I wanted to love this jacket. It is an amazing jacket - high quality materials and fill, DWR, superbly crafted, great semi-long length, long arms, awesome hood with brim!, everything near perfection - I'd say the best built lightweight down jacket. However, it is simply too tight across the chest and back if you have a wider back / chest. As noted by many others, it cuts into the armpits and lat area. I sadly had to return it. If Rab could just make it one inch wider across the upper chest area it would be perfection. I don't know why but they make thier size Large for a 43 inch chest, whereas every other manufacturer seems to make Large fit a 44 inch chest. I have never had this problem with any other size L from any of the other major jacket makers. For context, ... MoreI wanted to love this jacket. I wear size L in all other tops & jackets, size 44 dress jacket, 16/34 in dress shirts. If you are looking at a size Large and have a 42" chest or smaller this is an amazing jacket and you'd be crazy not to get it. Be aware it does have zipper on the left which is semi-annoying.Sorry, Rab - I really wanted to keep this jacket & would've also ordered an Electron Pro had it fit. Please make your stuff an inch larger in upper back/chest!

Don't sleep on this jacket! It's a pretty solid price point for the kind of cozy armor you'll be sporting. Not to mention, it's outfitted with just about every bell and whistle imaginable, making it the swiss army knife of down garments. Size wise, I found it spot on for a 5'8 and 162 lb frame. While it doesn't grip your physique enough to win a bodybuilding contest, it's certainly not baggy enough to survive a grunge-era wardrobe either. It's a well-balanced fit that should appease most goldilocks out there. One of the biggest selling points, however, is that it uses 100% recycled down under a 100% recycled outer! Rab was really listening to the planet when they got all Dr. Frankenstein with this creation. It'll make you a star at the next environmental justice ... MoreDon't sleep on this jacket! I'm also super-stoked to see a company offer such a wide range of color options. It's impossible to please every eyeball preference out there, but Rab comes mighty close in my book. This badboy will satisfy both the burly-bearded adventurer and the laptop packing, city dweller. All in all, this jacket shines all on its own in a market where the majority just seem to flock together.

Have had this for a month now and so far and I have been impressed. I wore it in 1 degree temperature for a decent period of time (hour or so) and was pleased with how warm it is despite it being fairly thin and light in weight. I like that it is packable and light weight. It also has a nice slim visor with a moldable wire in the brim which I was skeptical about at first, but seems to be useful and not too obtrusive. Lots good points lead to the four stars. It would have got five stars if it had an inside pocket or two and if the fit was a bit less square (although I can imagine it is difficult to make a coat to fit several different body types). Love the Rab name brand!

It is hard to find the perfect down jacket. I know because I bought 3 or 4 different ones before settling on this one. I am a big Outdoor Research guy and my go-to option in this price range was the Helium. I really liked the features and tougher material on that jacket but the fit was just so odd for me. The medium fit perfect from the torso up but the waist was squeezing me when zipped and was very short. The large was gigantic on me. Tried some Mountain Hardwear - medium fit too loose and boxy and the large was a trash sack on me.Then I got to this Rab! The cut and fit of these is so well thought out. I actually could not decide between the medium or large because they both fit decently and would both work in different situations (layers under or over). I actually could not decide between the medium or large because they both fit decently and would both work in different situations (layers under or over). I settled on the medium and it is just perfect. It is every-so slightly tight in the armpit/shoulder area which is further motivation to lose the excess 15 pounds I've been carrying on me for the last couple of years. The length is what makes this stand out for me. It fits snug in the torso but also has a slight tail that is sure to keep your waist and belly covered when reaching or bending over. I also love the stitching layout for the neck area when it is zipped all the way.As far as performance goes, I have taken it out for a couple of hikes and a couple of bike rides in drizzly/misting conditions at around 40 degrees. It is no surprise that it is plenty warm for 40 degree weather, but it also stands up well to the wet and even moving quickly on a bike on an open road the wind doesn't make it through to the skin at all. About 80% of the jacket has shed the moisture and only a few spots where water hung on soaked through, but I certainly never felt like the insulation was losing any of its performance. The stuff sack is a little weird when everything else on the market can stuff into a pocket, but I actually really like it because the shape it stuffs into is nicer than the usual pocket-shaped thing. I just keep it in the chest pocket so its out of the way of my hands and it isn't even noticeable because the stuff sack material is so light and soft.My final note is the feel of the jacket. Compared to the other brands I have tried, I would say this has an extra level of "plushness" to it. The outer and inner material is just really soft and less stiff or rigid than some down jackets.
I bought this jacket a few months ago from Snow + Rock. I find the fit very good and the wind stopping performance is excellent. It also performs well in a light rain shower, water beads on the fabric surface and is easily shaken off. More heavy rain will eventually soak in and saturate the filling. However, on closer inspection of the labels inside the jacket it clearly states the filling is 80% recycled down and 20% waterfowl feather. As others have said a lot of the feathers (and some down) work their way out through the stitching, especially inside. My navy blue fleece was covered in feathers and down when taking the jacket off. It has settled now after a few months though. It’s just my opinion but I think a down jacket should be 100% down filling.
Absolutely love this jacket, I spent three months hiking Langtang, Annapurna and Everest regions in Nepal and it performed exactly how I needed it to. It is super light, packs really well and the level of insulation is perfect, especially when we experienced down to -16C. Works really well with the Rab Geon Pullover fleece underneath. Has an internal chest pocket to keep electricals warm, two zip chords around the waist to trap the warm air and the hood has a peak which keeps it nice and stiff over your head. Also has a single layer Pertex protection for water repellent but not fully waterproof. Can't fault the jacket even though its a bit pricey, but worth the investment as I will be using it for years to come. Next price level up you can expect gortex protection
This is my second Rab Micro Alpine jacket. The first is bright orange and I use it for backcountry skiing and snowshoeing. I bought a second in a navy color and wear it to work in cool to mildly cold days. When not moving, I’d say it’s good around the freezing mark to about -5C. You can get away with colder temps to about -10C or more of moving. It lights and packs down fairly small so it’s easy to bring it along in a pack. I’d say it’s true to size, you can’t get away with more than a light ish mid layer underneath. You’re not going to be able to already a heavy sweater or you have to upsize. The fit is athletic. It’s zips high and the hood fits nicely. Sometimes, I wish it had pit zips but that is the only thing I think this jacket is missing. I bought the black version of this jacket from Cotswold Outdoor in Manchester and as soon as I bought it, down was leaking out from all the stitching between the baffles. I left it a couple of months as I know this is normal in the first couple of months and should settle down. I had enough of all the down leaking it was ending up everywhere and getting worse so I decided to take if back to Cotswold in Manchester. They exchanged it straight away and send me a new jacket to my house. The new jacket ended up doing the same but thus time it was even worse. I left it 3 months this time to give it a chance to settle but never did. I then took it back to Cotswold in Manchester who then sent it back to Rab for investigation. I was therefore left without a jacket until they had investigated the jacket which they said would take 4-8 weeks. This, to me is unreasonable as I had some trips planned where I needed a down jacket. I made Rab aware of this and they just told Cotswold Outdoors to give me a refund.I still don't know exactly what the issue was with the two jackets I had but they must have been from the same bad batch perhaps. I wish Rab would update me on this as I have lost all hope in the Rab brand. I've had plenty of Rab products including down jackets over the years and never had an issue but the way they handled this issue certainly wasn't a customer focused approach.I have now decided to buy an Arc'teryx jacket to replace this one. Its a shame as I did love the Rab brand.
I was very excited about purchasing the Infinity microlight jacket. It took me a month of research to finally chose what I thought was the best jacket for me and the mild weather here in Victoria BC Canada. Man was i disappointed !This jacket is definitely not windproof. It does not keep you warm during colder winter temperatures. Victoria BC Canada this winter was anywhere from -2 to 5 degrees. Maybe I got a faulty jacket or this particular one slipped through the cracks during quality control. But either way I now have a jacket I cannot use until late spring early summer. And it also leaks down everywhere !!! I wear a black dress shirt to work and if I put this jacket on go to work and then take it off it looks like I have been rolling around in feathers lolI don't like to complain and I was very excited to finally be able to afford and order a Rab jacket but the Infinity micro light jacket is not a good purchase.
