I was looking for an ABY switch pedal in order for me to play Rocksmith through my Spark amp so that I would be able to hear my guitar without turning the song down in the game. I was considering another brand but then came across the Big Shot and decided on it mainly due to the price being about $50 less than the other brand. The Big Shot also features a ground lift switch that the other brand didn't have, this features reduces the amount of feed back received when having both A&B amps on. Hooked the pedal to my Spark, PS4 and guitar and everything worked just as hoped it would. I've had this for about 3 weeks now and glad I chose the Big Shot by Radial.

I bought this to switch my Firebird between a Fender Blues Deluxe and a Peavey Heritage VTX (as an experiment for gigs), both tube driven but completely different sounds. When I first plugged it in, the B channel had so much buzzing I almost sent it back...but then I tried a novel approach: I read the instruction manual. Duh. Works perfectly. No noticeable difference in sound when using this box or going direct into the amp. It is well built, metal body, heavy duty switches, and does exactly what it is supposed to do (read the instructions first...haha ) I'd buy another in a heartbeat. The only downside? Now I have to carry two amps to gigs so I can use the ABY switch and get great sounds from both amps and give a little something extra to the gigs... but the Peavey ... MoreI bought this to switch my Firebird between a Fender Blues Deluxe and a Peavey Heritage VTX (as an experiment for gigs), both tube driven but completely different sounds. Excellent value on a well-built product. I bought mine to run two amps.Take time to read the entire manual before you use it. Very informative. Not only explains what each feature does but even explains why the issues that the ground lift, polarity, and ISO switches occur. The earlier reviews suggesting LED indicators would be a nice addition refer to the older version. This current version has LED indicators. The power supply is not included but it is a non-issue if you are using the BigShot ABY with the Both switch engaged as I do. Bigshot ABY switcher works as described
13 April 2023

I was looking at a few options for making the job of comparing two amps or guitars on the fly easier. My Sweetwater rep, Jed, recommended the Bigshot and I took his advice. I'm very pleased with the result. Simple to understand, easy to operate, and no noise related to the switcher. In short, I like it and would recommend it.

Dont buy into the audiophile hype
19 January 2018

Very well built and quality ABY. However, I fell for the the audiophile hype thst s non buffered ABY doesnt change youre tone. Thats true, but it also cuts the volume on the second output. I retuned it for a switchbone v2 and coulnt be happier. I debated the twin city, but went for the switchbone for the additional boost functions and am glad I did.Radial makes a great sturdy durable product, so if you truely need a powerless situation, this will work. Otw, go with the powered buffered pedals

Finally fixed my extremely loud buzzing!!!
20 April 2022

I play Rocksmith 2014 on PC with my bass amp. No matter what I tried, I was unable to remove the extremely loud and unpleasant buzzing that was always present when powered on. Tried this and when I guessed the right combination of switches, I was stunned.... Such glorious silence! Sounds so clear!

Great, simple ABY switch, actually works!!

I bought this as a ABY switch for my 2 amps, a Boss katana 50W and a Laney cub 12R, to use them as a stereo rig. With stereo rig's its always a bit tricky, some amps just harmonize perfectly together, no humming, no weird noises, others are going bunkers used together if there are not certain things like grounding issues and beeing of phase to each other are addressed.Well, turns out, my two amps did not need any of the capabilities of the ABY switch. I could havejust bought any adapter for a few bucks and accomplish the same thing, of course then without the possibility for switching forth and back between the two amps quickly versus stompbox , which would have sucked. So, i hooked up the Boss and a Blackstar id :core 10 for a trial. Oh, boy, there was loud humming and pulsing noises, just the opposite. It would have been impossible to pair the two. So, played with the 3 switches on there, and it almost completely removed all of it, there was just a very faint pulsing noise audible, but absolutely playable. The not included power supply is a little bit of a bummer, but its not needed since this is a passive switch and the power only used for the LED's, so one knows in what mode it is operating.Since its a passive switch and now there are additional cable length added, one should try to keep the cables short because of higher resistance and loss of upper frequencies. This of course can be treated with any stompbox that amplifies the signal slightly and cures that problemSo if you are planning on a stereo rig and you dont want to run into nasty surprises, this is it.

Love This Pedal
3 December 2019

I've had the older (all black) version of this pedal (without the LCD lights) for almost 10 years now and man do I love it. I use it for switching live between acoustic (to a PA) and electric (to my amp) without needing a second tuner or two separate pedal setups. This thing allows me to do that simply and quietly and is awesome because it works flawlessly, is very rugged and can take a beating, and has never failed. As others have said, it really does have true bypass (I've never noticed any drop in level between the two) and the switches on the front really do ensure whatever two inputs you're switching between will always cooperate. This will be the last AB box you ever buy. Worth a little extra for that certainty...it's perhaps the least exciting, yet most ... MoreI've had the older (all black) version of this pedal (without the LCD lights) for almost 10 years now and man do I love it. Love this Box so much
27 August 2021

I really love this box because it solved my problem and as a result has been maybe the most important part of my live setup for over a decade...while the switching between amps is the most obvious use, I was trying to find a way to switch between electric (to my amp) and acoustic (to the PA) while still having access to one pedal chain (most for the tuner for acoustic obviously). This box does the job perfectly. And because it's true bypass, it simply switches with no issue; no hiss, no noise, etc. If for some reason you do run into any ground issues or anything of the link, the switches on the front take care of it. I have the older black face model with no LEDs (therefore no power needed), and really can't recommend this box enough. Far and away the BEST AB box ... MoreI really love this box because it solved my problem and as a result has been maybe the most important part of my live setup for over a decade...while the switching between amps is the most obvious use, I was trying to find a way to switch between electric (to my amp) and acoustic (to the PA) while still having access to one pedal chain (most for the tuner for acoustic obviously). Radial Big Shot ABY passive switch.

Very pleased with the durability. This switch does exactly as described. It would have been nice to have LED indicators (especially to remember the last state when toggling the "BOTH" switch). In other words, the proposed LED indicators would remember if you are using the A or were using the B channel prior to enabling both. This way when disabling both (i.e. back to A or B) you know where you were when returning. If perhaps the switches were DPDT (double pole double throw), the LED circuit is separate from the audio signal, and would not affect tone. But, the LED circuit would need DC power from either a battery or a DC power adapter, which would add to the cost. A person can always add the LED indicator modification if they want on their own. When using the ... MoreVery pleased with the durability. This switch does exactly as described. Not a problem, because you can boost your highs up a bit on the amp(s) and compensate for it. Also, the phase inverter switch only works when using the isolation transformer and phase inverter switch together. This is normal (as it states this in the manual). Just mentioning this because if you forget about using them together, and just use the phase inverter switch by itself, it may appear that the inverter switch doesn't work (which is not the case, because it's being used incorrectly). In my opinion, this ABY switch is very functional and usable especially having these options:A) Ground lift optionB) Phase inverter optionC) Isolation transformer option the inductively couples the audio. These features are the sole reason and justification as to why I purchased this product.Nice job Radial Engineering !!!-Customer-User of this product
