Rain Bird 32SA Gear Drive Rotor

This professional grade Rain Bird 32SA rotor sprinkler features superior durability plus exceptional watering uniformity of patented Rain Curtain nozzle technology, resulting in a greener and more even lawn with reduced watering time. The rotor distributes larger water droplets that cover evenly throughout the pattern, also reducing wind-blown overspray. Nozzle micro ramps direct a portion of the spray near the head, adding gentle close-in coverage with reduced watering velocity that won't wash out new seed. Simple top adjustments for arc and distance help you keep water on the grass, not spraying on the house, sidewalk or driveway. The rotor also features a rugged dual-action, positive stop wiper seal that protects internals from debris and, together with a heavy duty stainless steel spring, assures positive retraction for leak-free performance. It installs on a standard 1/2 in. riser for simple replacement of older rotors.

I always hated these sprinklers, bust more than I ever got installed and working correctly, that is untill I found the video to set them up correctly initially. What a pieve o9f cake. Just installed 3 of these and they work perfectly (first shot too)What the videos. makes all the difference!!

I just replaced three of these sprinklers that I had for years. I did notice the spray pattern was a bit different from the originals. These seemed to be more of a stream and the older ones were more of a spray, but that may because of age. These new ones were easier to set the left edge which was a real plus as far as I was concerned. I will definitely buy these again.

Great for the price

I trialed several types of sprinkler heads, but these give the best coverage for my yard. The "spray curtain" doesn't really work when the sprinklers are set to max distance, which is the only disappointment I had. They are easy to install and adjust the arc and distance.

Don’t get your hopes up on the length of spray, it’s not accurate. The 19 foot spray they’re talking about must be DIAMETER at best. The water came out and went 10 feet. Other heads on our lawn reach 40 feet so it’s not a water pressure issue. We’ve had sprinkler heads replaced in the past by the company who takes care of our yard. I’ve watched how it’s done so decided to give it a try this time. Have someone who can get you good equipment for the same price supply them to you. It will save you some aggravation.

Left limit adjustment design could be improved
13 October 2022

If I could change one thing with the 32SA it would be the left limit adjustment design. You have to turn the entire body to adjust the left limit. My 32SA are on swing tubes I hate the thought of disturbing the swing tube elbow. My suggestion is to use the same design as the 42SA body.

Instructions not clear on setting throw distance. I learned how to set distance from a Hunter tutorial. The front screw head must drop into the stream to reduce the throw distance. Otherwise, the throw was going across the yard and into the house siding. Brown spots are already greening up.

We have a sprinkler system. We have replaced every head in our yard this summer 3-4 times each head. We’ve talked to lowes they said to call manufacturer. Never can get an answer. We have 39 heads so go figure. Very costly and no help

Perfect fit!
16 August 2018

This Rain Bird sprinkler head is built with great care and quality. I installed a new “DIY” Rain Bird sprinkler system a few months ago, and I am very surprised at how easy they are to install. (Minus the digging of the trench for the line). The sprinkler attaches easily to the elbow and water line. It pops up on time. The only issue I have, as I may have with all sprinklers in this category, is adjusting the spray pattern. This was timely as you will need a tiny screw driver to adjust (this was included in the kit).It works wonderfully and I would recommend the purchasing of this sprinkler head.

Rain Bird 1/2-in 19-ft-32-ft Adjustable Gear Drive
11 June 2019

I needed a replacement sprinkler head at the house I bought a couple years ago. I read some reviews on-line anddetermined that Rain Bird was probably a good choice. Lowe's had Rain Bird, as well as the original brand. I got theRain Bird. The results are great. Easy to set, and a repeatable coverage area. I have an underground well for the irrigation, andkeeping the iron-infused water off of the walkways and driveway is important. It was a good choice.

Rain Bird Vs Orbit
7 July 2016

Have 50 sprinkler heads that were originally all Rain Bird impulse units. These were first installed in 1980. Have 42 that are still functioning to this day. But as they start to fail one by one, rather than replacing the seal, I started replacing with Gear Driven Orbit units. WHAT A MISTAKE !!! Those Orbit's have now been replaced with the Rain Bird models again. From now on, I'll stick with the Rain Bird. Rain Bird, Hunter, and Toro have Orbit beat all together. I noticed that the Orbit units tended to fail at the ring that holds the head into the base,(split) and premature leakage at seal and at that very ring. They don't seem to hold up in the colder winter climate in Northern Weeki Wachee. I currently have 2 of these Rain Bird 4" units with a 1/2" inlet. The other Rain Bird gear drives are 6" because of the need for 3/4" inlet fittings that were already existing in the system. Stay away from the Orbit. Cheaper yes, in more ways then one. If you buy Orbit, you will be replacing them three to one at minimum. Also, I noticed that someone posted that they had a gear failure with their Rain Bird. Probably because someone in the store knew nothing about sprinklers, and while looking at them, WRENCED them back and forth. They do have limits. The only way to get away with this is to go with commercial units that don't have plastic gears. But, at a considerable cost difference. Nobody makes things like the did 20 or 30 years ago...
