I had a 20 year old mechanical rainbird controller. Worked fine but with 3 residences I could only guess on the forecast and when I would leave this one. Either would set to much and water bill would be out the roof or to little and yard would look terrible. I have 10 zones and it runs 3 hours at this house. It was easy to install and setup. Cut water bill in half and the yard looks great because I can adjust the costume water schedule from any where based on the 3 day forecast. Sprinkler Warehouse was amazing as the product cost was almost half of everyone else, it shipped hours from when I placed the order and showed up a few days later. I thought I might get a repla-bird but it was the the real thing with the link. Strongly recommend!

So far so good, does what I was needing. Live out of state for part of the year and wanted to control watering remotely. Thought I could turn the controller on and off, but apparently not possible with Wi-Fi so the way to do this is with the ?rain delay?. I guess this is better as you could forget to turn the system back on. With the delay, it will go back on after the the delay period is up. Other than that was easy to set up and works as intended. Would have given 5 stars, I have only been able to use the app/controller on one device at a time. Loaded the app on my iPad and thought I could use iPhone as well, not so. Need to contact Rainbird to see if it is possible.

While our last Rain Bird controller was a little easier to program, these units are very well made and headache free. The instruction pamphlet was easy to follow. Our last unit was here when moved in 22 years ago, and was most likely here many years before that. We never had a problem with it until it decided to “retire.”I didn’t purchase the Wi-Fi module yet for the new unit, but probably will do so.

I purchased this unit to replace an older (still working at 20+ years) Rainbird controller, as I wanted the flexibility of a Wifi enabled unit. I live in SW Florida; during summer we get localized brief but hard rainfall, so I want to override the rain sensor and stop some events as the watering is not needed. Or test zones on the system. This unit works very well and the Android app is fine. I have used the app on my phone via my Wifi and cell data, works fine. Folks that have issues most likely have poor reception issues.Easy to install and setup; be advised, I am not an irrigation specialist, but I am technical by nature and vocation.
My original 12 zone Rain Bird I replaced after 21 years. It still worked as well as the day it was installed but but my son showed me the advantages of using the phone app. Since I have always worked on my own system (54 heads) it meant constant trips up and down stairs to the basement. I know the system will work great and now I control every zone from outside. Great unit and maybe some day I will learn all the other programing systems it offers.
It's a fairly intuitive replacement for old Rainbird controllers. I would prefer easier to read and brighter controls. Although I could find my way through it, I did need to refer to the manual to be certain I was getting it right. It's analogous to my 12 year old model, just not as clear to use. My installer with at least 20 years experience in these controllers couldn't get it right. So, there is room for improvement. I think omission of battery backup is a bad point. It couldn't have added more than pennies to the cost if the item. Also, the cost for a wifi module is exorbitant, almost as much as for the controller itself. I bought it anyway so I could cancel watering from bed if it rains unexpectedly overnight, or if I just don't want to go out at night or in ... MoreIt's a fairly intuitive replacement for old Rainbird controllers. But really, the wifi module shouldn't be that expensive, and should just be included in the controller in this day and age, with a reasonable upcharge.
This unit was very easy to install ... I just marked the wires from the old controller and then inserted them into this one. The app was easy to install, and met my hopes of allowing easy configuration of complex programs. It even allows programs to be identified by photos of my yard ... nice touch. My only concern is that when the app is on my home network, it's pretty snappy. There seem to be large delays in executing manual watering when I'm off the home network, which happens when I'm out in the yard. Hopefully, this is a backend issue and can be fixed without much trouble.
After a couple of years of evaluating different Wi-Fi-based irrigation controllers I purchased the Rain Bird ESP-TM2 8 station. It replaces a Rain Bird model CRC ? 8A. The old controller was still working although it had minor keypad issues but never failed. The goal was to have a Wi-Fi enabled controller.Installation was simple. Programming was simple. It was very similar with my old Rain Bird. That?s one of the reasons I chose Rain Bird because it was very similar to the old Rain Bird in wiring and programming. Of course now I have option of doing everything from my phone which was my goal. So far everything is working as advertised. I am learning a few tricks with the Rain Bird app on my phone and it seems to be working and behaving properly. I purchased the above listed controller to replace a Rainbird Controller (ESP-ME) which could not be made to be WiFi-enabled. My only complaint about the controller is it did not include any instructions on how to properly program the controller from the Rainbird mobile app. I had to call technical support three times because the irrigation system would come on at times other than times I had programmed. The third time I spoke with Technical Support, the tech was able to help resolve my issue. I looked at several YouTube videos trying to understand how to use the App. It turned out tbs issue was I was tapping the raindrop to advance to the PGM screen, which I discovered actually overrides the program. I looked at several YouTube videos trying to understand how to use the App. It turned out tbs issue was I was tapping the raindrop to advance to the PGM screen, which I discovered actually overrides the program. Then tbs tech explained how to delay watering is it was going to rain the same time/day you had the controller scheduled to activate you'd zones. If he had not told me that when I explained the sprinkler activating at times other than those programmed, I would have been wasting water instead of saving water. This is why Raunbird should consider publishing a owner’s manual for customers in how use and navigate through the App. I do appreciate appreciate the patience the Tech, Angel I believe is his name, and knowledge of your product enabled me to solve my issue. If you desire more information about this situation, do not hesitate to call it text me at (806) 671-8700. Thank you.Regards,Darnell AustinA now satisfied Rainbird Customer
I upgraded from an older Rainbird ESP6 Controller (with WR-2 Rain Sensor) to the Rain Bird ESP-TM2-6 Controller with the Link2 Wi-Fi Module. It was very easy to install. Th entire irrigation system works great. Very well integrated together with the WR-2 Rain Sensor. I especially like that I can Manually Control each zone from either the Controller or Cell Phone app. This was very useful during Spring start-up of my Irrigation System. In addition, I can see that the Daily Seasonal Adjust of the watering time based on the local weather forecast and soil type will save on water usage.
