Rain-X Windshield Repair Kit helps you minimize the appearance and stop the spread of chips and cracks in your windshield. It removes air from the break, fills it with durable resin and makes it even stronger than before. For best results, repairs should be made as soon as possible after the damage occurs and before the break is contaminated by dirt or water. The kit works best on round damage not more than one inch in diameter, and cracks not longer than 12 inches. It will not repair damage to more than one layer of glass.

I had 2 small chips that were about 8 months old and 1 very recent chip. 2 of them were bulls eye and 1 was a star. All 3 chips were about the same of a dime or smaller. I don't like taking my car to one of the roadside pop up tents that do this repair since it's paperwork and takes too long. I also don't have full coverage insurance so this would be out of pocket for me.The instructions were easy to read, clearly labeled with good pictures to help guide you. I also watched a video online from a person reviewing this to see it in action before I started. The resin chamber stayed put on my window and the center piece fit great inside the chamber, no issues getting pieces lined up together. I didn't have too much excess resin to scrap off but the razor blade worked fine to remove what was there.I can still see my chips but it is noticeably better than before and I feel better believing that this will help prevent the crack from getting bigger.

Worked pretty darn good less than $12. I noticed a pea sized chip the other day on my way home from work. Upon contacting a well known glass repair company, I was quoted over $140 for them to come to my place and repair my windshield (as opposed to $120 for me to go to them). I saw that youtuber chrisfix made a video with this stuff and he had some pretty good results so I decided to give it a go. I'm very happy with the results! The instructions are clear as day and even have photo illustrations. I took my time with the process and took me about an hour to complete. Once I completed this task I pretty much followed the instructions to the T. Follow the instructions (including the working temperature) and you're good to go as long as you don't have a huge crack that is larger than the applicator which is about 1.5 inches.

I bought this last week and was a little sceptical of the ability of this to repair my 3 bullseye cracks because of reviews on many other sites. I very carefully studied the instructions before I started. In the end to make it perfect I had to do each chip twice but I can assure you that it definitely works but you must follow the instructions to the letter. I also found that the curing time was not sufficient for my repairs. I ended up leaving the clamp on for 20 minutes and the curing strips for 2 hours as there was not much natural UV light & I didn't have a UV light. If I were to do it again I would borrow a UV light as I'm sure the curing would be much faster.

I've used this type of kit in the past and had good results but not this time and it's down the the double sided adhesive foam that was supplied in this kit. I was a little puzzled when I got the kit by the rubber O-rings as I've never seen them in these kits in the past but so-be-it I followed the instructions and used them - and then it became apparent that they had been included to try to solve the problem with the foam that had been supplied. The inclusion of the O-rings means that the supplier knows they've cocked up as they've made a half-assed attempt to fix it. So on to the problem - in a nutshell the self adhesive pads supplied are not closed cell foam which means that when you try to put the resin under a slight vacuum to draw any air out of the chip air ... MoreI've used this type of kit in the past and had good results but not this time and it's down the the double sided adhesive foam that was supplied in this kit. The inclusion of the O-rings means that the supplier knows they've cocked up as they've made a half-assed attempt to fix it. So on to the problem - in a nutshell the self adhesive pads supplied are not closed cell foam which means that when you try to put the resin under a slight vacuum to draw any air out of the chip air can be drawn from the edges of the foam and into the little chamber that you created around the chip. Just as bad when you then try to apply a little pressure the resin can be forced out through the foam. Yet again someone has copied a perfectly good idea and made it un-reliable by cheaping out on the materials used to make it. The result is that you won't know which kits to trust to do a good job and which will be the rubbish ones.
We have three vehicles and I tried this on all three. It took almost an hour and a half to do 3 chips, bullseyes, scratches on each vehicle. So a total of 9. So, right off the bat their "5 minute" estimate is about double.Dodge Ram - had to use a step ladder to reach the center of windshield. Applied it to 2 large bullseyes (about the size of dimes) and a chip. One of the bullseye and the chip appear slightly smaller.Jeep Cherokee - much easier to reach. Applied it to 3 chips. Only one appears slightly smaller.Infiniti Fx - again, much easier to reach. Applied it to a bullseye, a chip, and a scratch. The bullseye and scratch appear slightly smaller.I am giving two stars. Only one appears slightly smaller.Infiniti Fx - again, much easier to reach. Applied it to a bullseye, a chip, and a scratch. The bullseye and scratch appear slightly smaller.I am giving two stars. One is for the inventiveness of the little suction cup tool thing. In theory this idea is fantastic!! However, it is pretty cheaply made, which makes any functionality a little less effective. The rubber stopper end where the resin is dispersed started coming off the tool, and this only got worse with each chip I tried to repair. This then lead to resin dripping down the windshield, requiring additional cleanup to an already annoying process. It also allowed resin to leak into the suction cups, which then prohibited them from sticking as well. The second star is because SOME appeared slightly less, so I guess I cannot say it doesn't entirely not work, because it does slightly work. The process is to use the little tool, apply the resin (this is tedious to keep running in and out of the car to check from the inside that it is aligned and also dispersing to the chip or crack), then you remove the stopper, do it again to let out any last air from the cracks, remove the tool, and apply a curing sheet (like a little plastic flat business card sized piece). You then move your car to direct sun and let it "cure" for 5-10 minutes. When you pull the curing sheet off, the resin is dry and is white. You take the included razor blade and scrape the dried resin off. If the chip still is visible, you are supposed to reapply the curing strip and scrape some of the resin back into the chip, and then scrape again to smooth.I did all of the above for all 9 areas I worked to repair. As I said, it took almost an hour and a half. For the amount it slightly repaired or improved the areas, I definitely do not think it is worth the effort. Perhaps it works better on large spider web type cracks, but I don't have any of those to test on. For the ones I tested on, I will attach a pic. The left side are the "before" and the right side are the "after" of the same areas. As you can see, there is only minimal improvement. Most of the other areas I did look the same as before. I believe if they made their tool better quality, this idea would work much better. I can see where the thought process is, and it seems it would work, but the cheapness of the little stopper losing its rubber and not being able to suction on as it should doesn't allow the resin to get inside the crack as effectively as it should. Make that better and it'll work better!
This product works great. I have tried other brands before and got mediocre results. First off I suggest read the instructions completely and be familiar with all the components. So when you use the product you won't have to refer back to the instructions as often. Take your time and be very methodical. It will take a little longer than the instructions states but you will get much better results. It doesn't eliminate the crack completely but it made harder to notice and I feel more confident that the crack won't be growing.
It looked professional %26 can fix more than one crack. Seemed runnier than I expected but after doing treatments TWICE on two rock chips it made zero difference. Yes, I followed the instructions to a tee, did it in shade of garage in 70 degrees, put in the sun to cure. Did all the plunger as specified, 6 drops for 8 minutes, was very runny when I took the plunger off, had to wupe it off the windshield when it ran down. Not happy after doing each small chip so I did them again. Honestly can't see any difference in the chip or the bullseye. These were tiny pebble chips about the size of the plunger nozzle. Very disappointed wasted over an hour and a half (and also the cost of it). I didn't expect a "like new" but this came out "like before"
This product used to be high quality. I often have it stocked up for preventative purpose. The last one that I had was a disappointed one. The quality has gone down tremendously. It has become almost water like. It would form a thin layer that would only stick to the plastic film instead of the glass. And it peeled itself off easily. It didn't act like that before. It should stick to the glass and supposed to come off with the razer provided only while it would flatten out repairing the crack. Very disappointed. I will have to look for another brand.
Chip on windscreen less than 5mm dia, would’ve cost £40-75 to sort through insurance. The chip was right in line with the heads up display so very annoying. Cleaned the area, washed and used white spirits to be sure. Go very gently with the first tube against the chip or you could cause more of a crack and then followed the easy instructions to the letter. Don’t rush the drying, I let my repair dry for double the time then scraped it smooth with the supplied blade. I would say a 95% improvement from where I started, I was so impressed that I used it on any chip I could find. Very happy with this product.
I read a lot of the reviews before purchasing this and I was a little apprehensive because of the negative reviews so I did a lot of research watching how to videos and decided to give it a try. All points and instructions from the manufacturer aside the main ingredient is the resin. The resin is what performs the repair. The rest of what comes in the kit is just to facilitate getting the resin into the crack. So, lining this or that up, waiting X number of minutes, and all of the other things are extra to the process so I made my focus not only on following the directions but focusing on if the resin had penetrated the chip. So, here are the steps that I used to repair mine that go a little more extended over what the manufacturer recommends. I am NOT a professional with windshields or the repair thereof so use my suggestions at your own risk.1. After cleaning the area and scraping away any loose glass fragments identify the impact point. It is mostly likely NOT centered to the center of the chip itself. Once you find the impact point that is what should be dead center in the center ring tool when you put the center ring on the windshield and press down the suction cups to hold it in place. Else, if you put the center ring centered on the chip itself you may actually be only applying resin to the surface of the windshield and not even touching the actual crack(s).2. From this point I followed the manufacturer's instruction for attaching the resin chamber, adding drops of resin into it and screwing in the plunger. I let this sit for about 10 minutes.3. I then completely removed the plunger and from the inside of my windshield I "gently" tapped on the center of the chip to coax any air bubbles out of the crack(s) and then I added a couple more drops of resin and re-inserted the plunger (NOTE: Hold onto the resin chamber when unscrewing the plunger else the resin chamber will unscrew as well). I repeated this procedure about 3 times until I was satisfied that I had gotten most if not all the air bubbles out and that the resin had penetrated sufficiently. When this happens the chip will be almost invisible and you should only see "maybe" thin transparent lines where there were any cracks extend out from the point of impact.4. I then removed the tools according to the manufacturers instructions, applied a drop of resin to the impact point and covered it with a curing strip from the kit. Once I moved my car to direct sunlight I let it sit for 20 minutes. I touched the curing strip all around the point of impact and saw that no resin was still liquid under the strip, removed it, and scrapped off the excess with the razor blade.Just remember, ignore time frames making you think it will only take X minutes. Do this around mid day, take your time, and I think you will be satisfied.
