The Rapala Countdown series of minnow-style lures has been around for years. They are a lure that can be trolled, cast and slowly retrieved, or cast and allowed to sink to the required depth that the fish may be holding. So whether the fish are suspending at certain depths near the weed tops, or on bottom structure, the Countdown can get you to them consistently. They have a working depth of between 0.3 to 3.9 metres. There are a number of different techniques that you can try when using this balsa-made sinking lure. Cast the lure and allow it to sink to the bottom. While it's sinking you should count how long it takes. Next time count one less, and you will then start the retrieve and the lure will stay just off the bottom. Or you can work out where the fish are holding, and count down until you are in amongst the school, and start a stop-start retrieve to entice the fish to bite the lure. Ideal for shallow or deep water, and for trout and bream, the Coundown is a must for any angler in the salt or freshwater.

This lure is perfect for catching finicky fish of all sizes. I have caught a variety of species on it and the sinking model is great for "counting down" so you can reach those deeper fish that are holding tight to structure.
Amazing bait for rivers and streams. It sinks despite the current pushing it. I replace the hooks with owner single placement hooks to prevent snagging.
I'm using this type of Rapala lures for over 30 years and I'm very successful with catching many species of trout and salmon. One of the best lures on the market. The only problem with them now is the high price.
been spending time in the high sierras . great lures for big rainbow's & brown's back in nov. 1st cast hooked ,but lost a monster brown . that's fishin
Love this lure - I use it on a river for trout and it consistently outfishes everything else in my tackle box!
Great lure that caught a lot of trout! I couldn’t believe the price at Scheel’s compared to other places both online and in-store!
I purchased the cd05-tr specifically for catching Brown Trout. Never used a better lure for these fish no matter where i fish. AMAZING!
