I havenât had much time to use it, fitgolf keeps hassling me for a review. I am working myself to a single plane swing and am not to the point of actually hitting the ball yet but I do look forward to its uses when I do. The one time I did use it, the driving range was full, as it has a tendency to be when the weather becomes nice in Maine, and I saw consistency in the club head speed but the ball track would occasionally hit one of my neighbors ball. It took me a couple of minutes to figure that out. My phone died really quick and itâs tough to plug in an aux battery when using. I like the unit itself though, nice and compact with a great case.

I have now used the device multiple times on the range, and it does give decent data to manage your practice. It only records about 85-90% of the shots which isn't great. Battery goes low within 25 mins of use after a full charge. It also NEVER detects the club so you need to bend down to choose a different club every time you switch which is not convenient. Data is fairly accurate when it records the shots - but does not record any shot less than 20 yards, so for really short chips, you will have to rely on your judgement. Good reports and graphics to really zero in on your distances. Particularly helpful when trying new swing changes and being able to see if it worked - again about 10-15% of the shots are just missed by the device completely. Just got myself an upgraded set of golf equipment ready for retirement, of course, also need to improve the rusted golf swings. This launch monitor makes a lot of sense to me. I set up up in the garage with a net, and mat. According to menu, set up is so easy. Just turn it on, 6 feet behind the ball, and allow 8 feet ball flight into hitting net.Allow yourself to get use to it, and hit ten balls of each club in a session. There you go. Your club gapping is recorded, with swing speed, ball speed, launch angle, distance and few other data. It's already proved to me so much valuable feed back to my golf swings, contact and game.

I compared a Rapsodo with a launch monitor that just gives dataâŚno video feature. The Rapsodo has a link that you load on your phone. The app shows ball flight, ball speed, flight distance, launch angle, and stores up to 1000 swings on your phone. You can select which club you are hitting and the app will show the dispersion of all the shots you took with that club. My only complaint is with the users guide. It covers how to pair the app with the device to your phone, but many of the available features are hidden and not disclosed in the users manual. But I give it 5 stars because when I emailed the company with questions, the rep Kelli Walsh got back to me within an hour! I have used extensively on the driving range. It even finds my range and displays a satellite view with shot overlay/dispersion. I found this to be accurate. I think most don't understand that it display "carry" distance not overall distance. I dialed in my irons using this information and not only gained confidence on approach shots, but layup shots as well. I have not tried net mode yet, but hope to soon.Pros: accurate carry distance, shot tracking, and shot dispersion, price as I bought on sale at $350.Cons: If the sun is shining on the equipment, it gets hot and will stop working. I had to use my golf bag to provide shade, but depending upon sun angle it impacted the unit operation
Hit about 1000 balls through the Rapsodo, probably 60% net mode and 40% outdoor. Overall, I really do love it, itâs probably my most loved piece of training equipment at this point and always stays in my golf bag. Rapsodo has done a really good combo of both hardware and software, IMO.Pros:-Net mode is really accurate, compared 1:1 with super expensive simulators and itâs usually within 4-5 yards or less if the shot is relatively straight, without too much spin left or right. Apex and launch direction also is spot on.-Outdoor mode is even more accurate, really just tracks your shot well there, no questions asked.-Instant replay of your shots is huge. Itâs not the best angle, and thereâs challenges with the front camera (more on that), but itâs usually enough to catch my typical faults. Itâs like super practice. I love it.-Overall build quality is great, small enough to fit in your bag and take anywhere, sets up in seconds. The integration of your phone onto the physical device is really awesome, compared to other LMs. I hate having to setup a tripod if I also want video of my swing. This is quick and discreet, you can use it out on the course or range and not look like a tool, or take forever fumbling with a tripod and going back/forth to review shots.-The app is really awesome, the insights it generates are great, and having the ability to save 10k swings to the cloud with slo-mo replay is huge! You can sort through all of your data, then look back on every swing you took ever to see what you did right (or wrong) that day or sessionâŚvery valuable. The distance gapping has also began to take strokes off my game, particularly with approach shots.-The company seems to be really committed to constantly improving/adding features on the software end, I wouldnât be surprised if we see spin and maybe even simulator play in the near future. So itâs not like you buy it, then 6 months later itâs outdated and to get x feature you gotta buy the new device.Cons:-THIS IS THE BIGGEST ONE: It doesnât measure spin, so take shot direction with a grain of salt on net mode. So for slices or hooks, if yours launch relatively straight and then curve, the MLM canât really pick that up. I know my bad slices can still launch 1-2 degrees to the right, fly pretty straight and then wind up landing 50 yards to the right of my targetâŚthe MLM would say the shot is âstraightâ, but it definitely wasnât. Youâll eventually learn what launch directions are good or bad for you though, so you can better predict shots hit into a net. My âgoodâ shots usually launch either negative (to the left) or less than 1 degree to the right. Definitely gotta find what your sweet spot is, through outdoor tracking or using other simulators that track more metrics.-Camera angle is tough sometimes, if you donât have a ton of space behind you. Using the recommended 6ft behind indoors, and even 8ft behind outdoors usually doesnât pick up your whole body, especially with longer clubs. Hard to diagnose your swing really from that footage, but you can still pick up on some faults, so itâs not horrible.-The app is great, but still a little buggy. It freezes on occasion and I need to reset it sometimes to start working. Not a huge deal though, and to be expected with really anything that depends on your phone to work. Itâs not a standalone LM, your phone is doing a lot of the work, so obviously your phoneâs performance will affect the MLMâs performance.-I have never gotten club recognition to work, ever. Idk if itâs just how my clubs are printed or what, but I do need to manually switch my clubs in the app.-$99/yr for premium kinda sucks, considering you arenât getting a ton extraâŚBUT they put apex in there, so you pretty much have to buy it. The cloud storage/slo-mo etc is nice, but I wouldnât care about either if apex was left out of it. Coaching seems nice in theory, but idk how a coach could effectively improve your swing virtually with just the one angle and data the MLM gives them. I have hope that more useful features will be coming though to premium. All in all, solid LM and training tool. The Garmin approach may have it beat with added simulator play though, and the app that pairs with it is pretty much the same thing now (also $99/yr but that comes with simulator course). I might switch over eventually, provided Rapsodo doesnât add more featuresâŚbut for now, I still love it.
Here's the perfect example of what happens when you assume something. It's hard to believe that in this day and age, a company would go to market with an app that only works on iOS. Do they know that globally, Android has over 72% market share? My guess is that this is a prototype that they have released for the small minority of Apple users to beta test for them.I hope that once this becomes a full fledged product and is available for use on Android devices I will be able to actually use this for something other than a $500 paper weight.
I have a set up in my outside garage where I can take a full swing with any club hitting into a net approximately 8 to 10 feet away. I set the Rapsodo unit behind my tee area (6 to 8 feet) on the same level as my tee mat. At first the unit was not picking up a number of my shots. I put higher wattage bulbs into my ceiling lights which helped a little but not to where it was picking up all my shots. I ended up purchasing a set of construction LED lights on a tripod ($25.00) and placed this behind the Rapsodo unit shinning the lights at the tee mat and net area. That solved the problem. The unit reads just about every shot with much better accuracy. I have only used the net option of the practice mode so far. I want to establish base lines for all of my clubs. Once established (launch angle, carry distance and ball speed), I will work on improving my stats going forward. I am very pleased with the Rapsodo unit and the immediate feedback it verbally gives after each shot. I may migrate to a large iPad other than my iPhone to use with the unit for a larger readout. My eyes aren't what they used to be! By the way, my garage ceiling height is 9'4" which is plenty for me and my friends. If all works out and I end up using this set up many times, I may opt for a simulator next fall!!
Truly not worth it. Extremely disappointed in this product. Very very inconsistent and only picks up the ball here and there.Multiple issues.1) will cause phone to get hot and shut down camera feature.2) the net option basically stops working after about 20 - 30 swings, and itâs inconsistent during that time3) loses connection between device and phone quite regularly.4) doesnât really seem to be very accurate with its distances when compared to range finder or other known distance markings. This device reads a lot shorter from my experience.5) several practice âsessionsâ didnât even show up and are nowhere to be found. When using the net practice feature, you do have to be so far from the ball (6 feet, at least) with the device to the ball, and at least ... MoreTruly not worth it. So basically 14 feet minimum. I measured out where the device sits and where the net is, multiple times, and have the area marked where to place the ball every time. It will start out just fine and then it just quits taking readings. But if I move forward or back or to one side or the other, it will read again, then stop. This is very frustrating. Way to many issues. If it stayed consistent and worked every single swing, this would actually be a good product. My decision to buy the rapsodo was based on multiple reviews from various âgolf professionalsâ or âgolf influencersâ and what is suppose to be reputable golf review sites claiming that the rapsodo is the most accurate, affordable personal launch monitor. I would have to disagree and will be looking into either the flightscope mevo or Ernest, possibly the swing caddie launch monitor.
Received the MLM in Jan 2021 and as of Feb 2021, Iâve only used the MLM in net mode and so my feedback is for ânet mode-onlyâ. My understanding is that net mode functionality may be relatively new. Initially, I was very impressed with the simplicity of use and the resulting data and information. However, I experienced frequent unregistered shots. Rapsodo even contacted me about it, unsolicited. (Caution: they can âseeâ your video. Itâs not clear whether itâs just the recordings or the live feed.) Rapsodo support has been decent although inconsistent. Seems like they might be a smaller company and/or perhaps having growing pains. Seems like they might be a smaller company and/or perhaps having growing pains. The set-up instructions that were provided with the product and subsequently emailed to me when I signed-up for the app are no longer accurate per Rapsodo support. They emailed me additional that helped improve the unregistered shots but required me to address quite a bit, mainly lighting and backdrop. Shortly after I started using it, there was an update to the app. Since then Iâve noticed a lot of bugs in the app, nothing major, mainly navigation and viewing. Iâm not confident in the distance results as, even with the short clubs, the distances seem a little short. However, the results seems consistent. In summary, I think itâll be a great product once they workout all the kinks. BTW, beware of the coach feature. I signed-up and paid for a video analysis and have yet to be contacted nor I have been able to contact anyone about using it after several days. Rapsodo support is looking into it.
