Right out of the box the BlackShark V2 Pro headset for Xbox is ready to go and comes with everything you need. I was able to connect the headphones to my desktop, laptop, and cellphone via Bluetooth and to my Xbox via the included dongle. The microphone is easily adjustable to get it into a good location to pick up your voice and it’s also removable so you can just remove it and use the headphones if you want. I like the adjustment knob on the side of the left headphone because it makes it easy to find the volume adjustment. Most headphones just use buttons, and it can be hard finding the right button to adjust the right settings, but the knob makes it easy. You also get feedback on the screen (PC, no feedback on Xbox) to let you know what your volume setting is.Sound quality was excellent using the Sonic spatial headphone setting in Xbox. The headphones are not noise canceling, but they are closed back so they are able to keep a lot of environment noises out. The highs, mids, and lows are well balanced and provide a good soundstage. I was surprised how much more detail I could hear while wearing the headphones than listening to my speakers and the best part was that my wife wasn’t bothered by the sound. Mic quality was also very good, and I like the addition of the wind screen to help with plosives. I got no complaints from my friends about voice quality or not being able to hear me.Overall, I’m very pleased with the headphones and they easily beat out my last set in terms of sound quality and comfort. I’m also very happy that for the price I can use them on all my platforms, not just my Xbox.

I’m not sure if they will be very comfortable in longer gaming sessions but the ear pads and headband padding and soft, the ear pads don’t seem to effect my glasses and headband is soft enough to not cause me any head pain in the time I’ve used them.Sound quality: The sound quality of these is superb. I think that’s thanks to not only the pro drivers but the padding I mentioned above. Tweaking the EQ also helps to give that competitive edge. Mic-wise the people that I was in party with did notice that I sounded crisper and closer than I did previously and it made me more confident knowing I didn’t have to worry about “swallowing my mic” or being the “heavy breathing” guy in the party.Overall I think that these are definitely esports level gaming headphones. I would absolutely be recommending them to people with the caveat that there is a bit of a learning curve with the buttons for the knob control and in game monitoring vs game chat volume control. That’s the only thing stopping me from giving this Five stars. If you can handle that then consider it a five star review. Otherwise, it’s like four and 3/4!

The built-in EQ modes all sound good as well and are easily accessed with a button on the right headphone. The rest of the controls are simple and easy to use as well and the volume knob is nice and serves double duty as a game sound mixer. Another thing that impressed me is that even on my phone the volume knob made the on-screen volume slider appear and move up or down. These headphones are a very well made versatile set of do-it-all-over-the-ear headphones for a fair price of $200. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a set of over-the-ear headphones in this price range. They are very comfortable and can easily be worn for long periods of time and they are plenty big for people with large heads while still being able to fit smaller heads.

Since it is made out of plastic it makes the weight of the headphones very light and it can easily sit on the top of your head for hours without feeling any fatigue. I got the black version of this headset, and it looks very clean and minimalist. The branding is not too aggressive as it has the black Razer logo on each side of the ear cups and then they have the company name, Razer, etched out on the top of the headband. I think the stealth black looks good and the branding is not overly aggressive either. The microphone in this headset is detachable so it gives the headset a very sleek design if you ever plan on using it in public with its Bluetooth mode. Unfortunately, even with the sleek design, the headphones look very much like “gaming” headphones, so I cannot see myself wearing this headset in a public environment. One thing I wish that they would change on the appearance of the headset is the volume dial. It protrudes out of the left side of the headset aggressively making it stick out like a sore thumb when viewing from all angles. However, it does make the volume dial easy to find and use when wearing the headset. I would prefer it to be a lot smaller and put on the bottom of the headset instead so that the headset completes the minimalist aesthetic.The sound quality of these headphones out of the box is great for gamers. There are plenty of basic built-in EQ presets on the headset that sound great. The preset choices that come by default are custom, music, movie, and game. There is also another set of EQ modes called “Esports EQ” that are preloaded on the headset. The selection that comes default on the headset is between Apex Legends, CSGO, and Fortnite. I found that after testing out both the basic preset modes and the competitive preset modes I ended up sticking to the music preset as it provided the best sound stage for listening to music and playing games. Overall, the sound quality is excellent and made for an enjoyable experience playing games. I noticed that these headphones tend to lean more heavily on the low ends making the bass sound good. This helps in video games as it helps add to the emersion when there is an explosion nearby and you can feel it in your ears. These headphones also make footsteps easy to hear and locate as the directional audio works very well with the drivers. One thing I did notice was that as a tradeoff for having such good bass in a wireless headset, the high ends tended to sound a lot more compressed and sometimes even a bit muffled at some points. That can probably be tweaked in the setting if you install the Razer app on your phone or computer.The mic quality on this headset is by far the best-sounding mic that I have tested on a wireless headset to this date. I have used plenty of wireless headsets and an issue that I have had with all the headsets that I have used previously is that the mic quality is always super bad and borderline unbearable on most. When I used these headphones for the first time, I tested the mic, and I was shocked at how good it sounded right away. I was blown away by the quality of audio that I was hearing and when I played with my friends they didn’t even know that I was using the headset microphone until I told them.Even with a couple of niggles, I highly recommend this headset to anyone who wants a good-sounding headset with an excellent-sounding mic out of the box.

Razer replaced it under a "one time exception" to their warranty policy, but it took 2 months all told to get the replacement back from them between back-and-forth debates on "defect in manufacture" and "user abuse" and apparently the replacement request getting lost in several stages of warehousing.I will partially own up to the second incident, though - I put ... I wouldn't call myself an audiophile, but the sound quality is fantastic, especially when you're plugged in to a PC for THX support.Overall, I'd *cautiously* recommend this headset if you're willing to treat it like it's made of eggshells, and if you get an accidental protection plan from the seller rather than the manufacturer (can't give Razer customer support many points, unfortunately). The headset delivers a wide frequency response and immersive sound. The sound profile is well-balanced, making it suitable for various gaming genres. I found the preset sound profiles to work very well, but you can also use custom audio settings if none of the presets are to your liking. Also with having access to the Razer Xbox app you don’t have to mess with any of the settings on your phone as it can all just be done on the Xbox itself.Microphone: the microphone voice clarity may not be the biggest draw to a gaming headset, but the microphone on this headset is the best I have ever used by far! The only drawback here is that I wish there was an option to mute the mic without having to press the mute button, such as pushing the mic up.Extra Features: the various audio profiles are not the only standout feature here that I have to mention. The addition to this version that allows you to change the voice versus game volume is a game changer that brings this in line with other high end gaming headsets. With these features and the superb sound quality it does not hinder the battery life because after a week of use I have still yet to charge the headset as I can definitely see it lasting the full 48 hours as advertised.Overall, this headset from Razer hits on every key element you look for in a gaming headset from the superior build quality and comfort to the sound and microphone quality. The various sound profiles and options coupled with the long lasting battery only further builds on the reasons to put this headset as one of the best to which I would not hesitate recommending this headset to anyone in the market for their next gaming headset!

I not only game for several hours but I work from home most days with an average of 2-3 meetings every single day so I typically find myself using this headset for at least 7-8 hours each day. To get something better you're going to be spending well over $200 and more than likely into the $350+ price point. My only complaint is the mute button, It's quite sensitive and it sits right next to the power button which you need to hold for a few seconds to turn on. This causes me to accidently mute myself when attempting to turn on the headset. Its a minor annoyance but I would have moved the mute button to the other ear or at least away from the power button. Overall this headset has been great, If you're looking for an affordable gaming headset that sounds great and has the battery life to run all day & longer then I absolutely recommend the Blackshark V2.

The supporting roles include the microphone, with its position-sensitive connector, the USB-C dongle that allows use of the headphones with Razer’s HyperSpeed wireless connection with an Xbox or a device with a USB connection (via a selector switch), the charging cable with USB-C to USB-A connectors and finally, an adapter cable with a female USB-C connector to a USB-A connector.The controls are interesting, as there are a few twists and turns involved, such as the multi-purposed rotary control knob that most obviously controls the headset volume, but also controls the game/chat balance. There are also controls for microphone muting, power and selecting the equalization presets.There are selectable eq profiles for “Game”, “Movie”, “Music”, and “Custom”. Within the “Game” settings are some game-specific profiles for Apex Legends, Call of Duty and Fortnite. The “Movie” setting’s sound is characterized by some very low bass, “Music” has a pretty neutral balance (minus some low bass), “Game” is a bit restricted sounding on both the highs and lows, and “Custom” is by its nature, variable. You can employ the Razer Audio Setup app to control these settings.HyperSpeed wireless is a feature-moniker of this headphone that describes the increased speed that the USB dongle-connected device allows compared to the slower Bluetooth connection, making it all the more possible to play or work via the fastest speed with these headphones.Pros and consJust a few items were less than ideal. One is that the physical size of the cups combined with the externalized cup locating positioning rods are a bit uncomfortable against the upper chest/sternum and neck if positioned on the neck for taking a break to talk to a meal provider about dinner or trying to dissuade the fireman from separating you from your game for an “emergency”. I wish there was some sort of padding on the rods or a beveled surface on the ends. Also, I never realized that font sizes came in negative numbers as used in several locations on the instructional flyer. I think even babies with their young eyes would have trouble reading some of those tiny, 1/32” tall characters.The sound for me was very good with only the higher frequencies a bit lacking when compared to high-end, high-fidelity headphones. The silver lining to that minor cloud is that the fatigue factor will be much lower for all-day use as a result. Also, the microphone sound was reported as being clear and well-articulated.I think that the maker is perhaps not taking full advantage of the versatility of these headphones by advocating (limiting?) their use for only gaming. I understand that that is the primary designed purpose, but as you start using these, you will find yourself widening your utilization in ways you hadn’t anticipated. Tellingly, I had a hard time reviewing these headphones due to family members constantly wanting to use them!
This Razer BlackShark V2 Pro is a real-deal top-tier wireless gaming headset and I love it. This was designed specifically for high-end, competitive console gaming on PlayStation and Xbox. I use this primarily with my Xbox but I have also connected it and used with PC and Nintendo switch and it works flawlessly with them all. This headset is specifically aimed at and does a great job of providing excellent spatial audio – this undoubtedly improves my gaming experience, allowing me to pinpoint enemy movements and other critical sound cues in games where spatial audio is key for locating enemy players.Microphone: This BlackShark V2 Pro is equipped with Razer's HyperClear Super Wideband Mic, offering stunning high-definition voice quality for game chat. The name says it all “HyperClear”….. The mic is awesome, captures a wide range of frequencies to promote clear and natural communication with teammates. There’s nothing worse than a fuzzy mic that picks up every little background noise in the room. This mic does a great job of filtering the noise out of the pertinent chat.Battery Life: Phenomenal battery life in a still notably lightweight unit. This is a standout feature of the BlackShark V2 Pro. Claims to offer up to 70 hours of use on a single charge when used with PC, and around 48 hours when paired with a console. Once these lifespans start getting up past the ~6ish hour range I’m good. I would never survive playing this long non-stop and I’ve always been an advocate for plugging my peripherals in when not in use so this is a “nice, but overkill” feature for me. That being said, it must be noted that battery life is superb on this headset.Connectivity and Controls: This headset supports connectivity via the Razer HyperSpeed Wireless (2.4 GHz) dongle and/or Bluetooth, although it cannot use both simultaneously. Connection is quick and simple. If you can plug in a USB dongle or have ever connected a Bluetooth anything then you can do this. Connection was equally as simple on all 3 platforms I tested, piece of cake. This headset also includes built-in EQ presets tailored for specific esports games, designed in collaboration with professional gamers in order to provide optimal sound settings for different games. Only a handful of games so far but hopefully more titles will continue to be added.Conclusion: This Razer BlackShark V2 Pro is awesome. An asset for competitive gamers looking for a comfortable, high-quality wireless headset with excellent audio performance and extra-long battery life. Overall design, quality, and performance make it a strong contender in the gaming headset market
