Step aside, mere mortals, for the Razer Huntsman keyboard has descended upon us! With its lightning-fast optical switches, it's like having Usain Bolt as your typing companion. This keyboard is so responsive, it could send an email before you even think of hitting "send." The satisfying clickety-clack of each keystroke is music to your ears, making you feel like a master pianist composing a symphony of memos. And let's not forget the RGB lighting that turns your desk into a disco party. Be warned, though: typing on the Huntsman may cause uncontrollable bouts of air-guitar playing and an overwhelming urge to shout, "I am the keyboard king!"

Great for typing and gaming, very solidly built

It is a wonderful experience to type on this keyboard. Very similar if not identical to Cherry MX Blue switches, clicky, tactile and extremely satisfying to type and game on. The lighting is crisp, bright and fully customizable.I've never been a huge fan of Razer's products because they are typically flashy, over branded and lack in subtly/elegance. This keyboard does not. It is sleek and low key for a "gaming keyboard" which is something I value. I find myself wanting to type more than usual due to the amazing feel of these keys. SOO satisfying!

This review is for Huntsman Elite Opto-Mechanical Clicky keyboard.I like the action of these keys; it is light with a good feel. The click is not too loud. I like a click sound but don't want it to be too obnoxious. I think this is a good middle ground.I have a couple nits to pick. The lighting is nice, except the shifted characters on the number row are not illuminated. If you are an experienced typist this probably isn't a big deal, but I find it annoying when needing a seldom used character and the room is dark. Why didn't they do like they did on the number pad, which I think is fine?My second nit is that when I first used it there were 3 keys that did not work. They didn't feel right, either, coming to a stop before traveling as far as the other keys. Now I need to buy a 2nd one
3 December 2021

I'm an engineer by trade so I spend a lot of time on computers doing programming and such. I was looking for a new keyboard for a setup at home. I bought this keyboard because it seemed to have the nicest response when I tried it compared to the other brands in store. I bought the purple "clicky" version.I've used mechanical gaming keyboards at work and home for years because the response and feel is just so much better than membrane. I hooked it up at work to test it out, in place of a mechanical keyboard that used similiar switches to cherry mx blue. I definitely prefer this keyboard over that one. It just feels so much smoother and not quite as loud. The keyboard I had been using at home used romer-G switches, which I liked. But the switches on the Razer seem to be the perfect combination of those and the blues. I would say this is the best keyboard I have used.I wasn't sure if I would like the wrist rest but so far it has been nice and comfortable. The lighting effects are pleasing to the eye and don't seem overdone. The build quality seems top notch. I could take or leave the volume control. I would normally use the volume control built into my headset but if I was using external speakers it may be more useful.

Old school but good at a reasonable price!
25 June 2023

I requested this keyboard as a gift for Xmas 2022. It was $100ish which I think is a great price for mechanical RGB keyboard. This is version 1 and they have newer versions of the Huntsman elite. The only thing I don't like is that the special characters like ! , @,# etc don't light up. But you can easily replace the keycaps with ones that do for like $10-$20. Also, if you can touch type without looking at the keys, doesn't matter anyway! But I read that the new one doesn't have RGB lights on the wrist rest. I'm all into RGB so that and the cheaper price, I thought this was the best deal at the time. Recommended. 5 stars.

Only good for sale
17 January 2023

So far it is a good keyboard. I did have a few concerns like if the wrist pad will wear out but there are replacements out there. I prefer not to get replacements but there are ways to remedy the issue. The keyboard is a little high for me without the wrist pad compared to other keyboards I have tried but it is not a deal breaker. Overall, it is good but only good on sale. It is not worth 200 bucks but I got it on black Friday for 100 bucks. If you buying MSRP then I recommend the hyperx alloy elite 2 keyboard with red switches. I tried both of them and ended with this keyboard and I was surprised that an extra 100 bucks did not improve the experience and had diminishing returns.

Superb Gaming keyboard
7 January 2023

Superb response, excellent clicky noise (if you're into that!), and nice RGB lighting. I only wish the software was a bit better. This is a superb gaming keyboard and it's easy to clean too. I recommend buying an electric duster for that. It's greatly responsive. The volume knob works great for me and it links up well.I just only have one complaint to Razer. Synapse could use some work. I think they need to modernize the program. Once or twice I had to reinstall because suddenly all my devices disappeared off it. I haven't had any issue since, but still, it could be a smaller more efficient program. I also wish they had one for Linux when I dual boot.Anyways, the keyboard itself is excellent. And the wrist pad is of excellent quality.

Synapse Software Ruins The Keyboard
26 April 2022

I bought this keyboard to use with my workstation. I do a lot of work in product design and prototyping, from 3D modeling, to graphic design and simple animations, to programming microcontrollers. I had completely worn out my 2013 Black Widow and decided to try the optical switch technology included in the Huntsman Elite. BUT, I absolutely have to have a lighted keyboard and need a single color displayed all of the time. My 2013 Black Widow used green LEDs and I was hoping I could get the Huntsman Elite to look similar. AND THEN I RAN INTO THE BRICK WALL OF THE RAZER SYNAPSE SOFTWARE! What a bloated, intrusive bunch of code that is! There is no way to set the color on the keyboard to a single color without using Synapse. I absolutely will not run that software on my workstation. After two days of trying to live with it I uninstalled it. Come on Razer, surely you can build a simple option that allows a user to set a single color and not have eight different sets of code running in the background! As far as the keyboard is concerned, out of the box it's pretty disappointing. The keys lack the type of lubrication they ought to have to allow them to function as well as they might. Look online and see what some of the keyboard hackers have done to make the keys perform to their potential. I don't have the time, or desire, to pull this thing apart and do what Razer should have done in the first place, especially when I can't get the lighting set the way I want it without the bloat and intrusion of Synapse. There are some open source work arounds that I could download and use to achieve the lighting that I want. And then I could run a small script at startup to boot a lighting profile developed with one of the open source methods. That would get the job done, maybe. But I am not impressed enough with the keyboard to go to that kind of trouble. I'll give this one away to someone who wants to tinker with it. I think I'll just pick up a Logitech 845 with blue cherry switches and be done with this one. The Huntsman Elite was a total disappointment for me.

The best keyboard I've ever used.
10 October 2021

I wasn't planning to get this keyboard; however it was on sale, and I can honestly say I've never had a keyboard this good before. It's ridiculously responsive, clicky-in-all-the-right ways (I get a tingle down my spine after typing some things), and yet it doesn't feel like I am hammering away at some old mechanical switches. It feels like typing on air, each key moving with the lightest touch, but not in a spongy way like some other keyboards. It's like the button moves down just enough to match your finger, and it knows just when you mean to click, and when you don't. At first it was a little oversensitive, but I've honestly adjusted super quickly because of how fantastic it is. Plus, again, the audio feedback is very nice. Lighting is gorgeous, vibrant, and easily tweaked in Razer Synapse. The only cons I can see are that some of the key symbols (like those accessed by hitting the shift key) are not backlit, which can make more complex typing difficult in low-light conditions. Also, there is no USB passthrough, which would be nice given that this takes two USB ports on your computer. All that said, it's a fantastic keyboard, and I love it to death.

Very Impressive Keyboard
3 February 2023

I was in the market for a new keyboard and mouse. I have owned quite a few over the years starting back in the commodore era. I had recently upgraded my box so it goes in line time to change the old KB and mouse as well. I generally spend a few hours looking over the products looking at reviews, quality, specifications and then narrowing down my choices. It came down to 3 choices and since I had the Razer Headset I decided on the Razer Huntsman Elite.. I required lighted keys due to being in the way over 50 club. The thing that caught my eye was the ability to program the keypads to different colors and motions. One more thing to play with. One extra bonus was a lot of the reviews wrote about how comfortable the wrist rest was. IT is not made of plastic but rather a padded leather/ faux leather that is VERY comfortable as I discovered after a few hours banging on the keys. The wrist rest has 6 metal pins that are magnetic and that passes power to the edge of the rest and it lights up in the profile you can either download or create your own. There are thousands of profiles and the work and creativity is impressive. The unit requires 2 USB 2.0 or higher connections. There is no USB Pass thru but for me that was not a deal breaker at all. You can always add a USB hub need be. I did upgrade the keycaps as I like the ability to see more clearly. I have added a couple photos to show you how this looks. A Great deal from Best Buy!
