Camo makes a gorgeous afghan!

I used the Lily of the Valley stitch on 3 full size afghans (Camo yarn) and then added a black Red Heart yarn border. They will be Christmas gifts for my son and his friends. They are gorgeous and I absolutely love with with this yarn! No knots, easy center pull always when bought from Joann and no splitting while I’m crocheting! I do wash in cold water and use fabric softener before giving away my afghans just because I have 3 dogs in my home. This yarn is always perfect! Easy to work with. A great price through Joann and super fast shipping!

I purchased several colors. The light raspberry is much thinner than the other colors. And it has a silky feel and keeps splitting. This yarn is ruining my amigurumi project. Very disappointed in the quantity and inconsistency of this yarn.

For the price it's really good! I just started learning how to crochet and it glides easily while the piece is building up. I learned that washing it after it's done *really* softens it up. The color selection is nice too. I just wish the yardage of the skeins matched online. I purchased 3 skeins and 2 of them were larger than what it called for and 1 on them was smaller. All in all I'm excited to purchase more as I learn!

Feels like sandpit and is very hard to work with!
16 December 2022

I've used this yarn off and on for many years and when a friend ordered and shipped the yarn to me, I was happy to crochet a couple of bed runners for her. The first skeins of yarn (purchased elsewhere) were exactly as I remembered the yarn to be. However I didn't have enough to complete her project, so she purchased additional skeins through Joanne's, and the yarn literally feels like sandpaper! It is hard and stiff, as if something was spilled on it and then it dried. How can one skein yarn from the same manufacturer, be so crappy when purchased from another vendor? That is just mind boggling. I get color and lot variations, but this is entirely a different story!

Great inexpensive yarn good quality
25 April 2024

I have been using this paired with neon stripes to make my neice and blanket and I absolutely love the way they go together perfectly. I love that it isn't itchy and rough. I love that it is so easy to work with. I haven't had any issues so far. I have bought 6 of each skeins. I recommend this yarn brand. I am fairly new to crocheting. This is my 5th blanket in the past 2 weeks since I started. I love going to Joann's.

Huge Disappointment
12 May 2020

Haute Pooling and Christmas Pooling yarn colors are inconsistent, low quality, and "splotched." The result is that the finished product is messy-looking. The planned pooling lengths are inconsistent and result in an inferior product. The first two pictures show the Christmas pillow red, white, and green colors. There are dark splotches on the red and green; the "white" is filled with red and green splotches. Added to that, the white portion of the yarn measures 8 5/8"; the green measures 28"; the red measures 31 1/2". The directions simply state to watch the Marly Bird videos and offer no new directions for the very weird lengths of yarn. The Christmas pillow yarn was to be paired with a solid green back. The directions simply state to watch the Marly Bird videos and offer no new directions for the very weird lengths of yarn. The Christmas pillow yarn was to be paired with a solid green back. Good luck! Both yarns are supposed to be the same weight and ply -- not so! The solid green was thicker and heavier. If I had used it, it would have been too chunky for the extremely thin pooling yarn. I'm now using the Christmas pillow pattern in straight crochet -- I'll probably put it into the dog's bed -- I would be embarrassed to use it for anything else. The Haute Pooling yarn is much the same story. The third picture shows that the gray, black, and red colors overlap with the white creating measures of color that vary between 11" and 11 3/4" -- each color is to measure 12"! Again, the texture of this yarn is very thin and, adding to the problem, the white portion is chunkier.I'm an experienced and very finicky crocheter. Having to change tension, crochet hooks, and stitches (Marly Bird recommends half double crochet to "use up" yarn at the ends) results in a project that lacks even edges and that has loads of different tensions throughout. The pattern that forms is "cute" but the piece itself is not something I would ever give as a gift or use for myself. So based on the lack of quality of the pooling yarn, lack of specific directions for the pillow, and the unevenness of the finished product, I would neither purchase any more pooling yarns nor recommend the yarns to anyone else.

More intense than image
15 August 2024

Thought this would be the perfect baby color yarn, but it's more intense color than the image shows. The colors are a lot stronger. Not so much rainbow as they are 1960's bright. I wanted something more pastel. Something stronger than angel print, but not this intense. Disappointed that the image is not exactly true to color. If you order, please know the color is more intense.

Really wanted to like it
26 April 2024

I made one huge order to use for amigurumi. I wanted to love this yarn so much but it is so rough. The yarn I did use felt like it was rubbing my fingers raw. They do have great colors and a great price point though. I can't imagine using this to make something to wear or a blanket.

Yarn color, texture, thickness not consistent
12 March 2023

Let me start with color. I could see in the store that Aran was not consistent in color. I bought several of the shade I liked better. Those skeins were very stiff and the thickness was very inconsistent. At color change to buff/beige the buff was very very soft, almost silky. Thickness was consistent but way thinner than the Aran. Since this is a gift I decided to just start all over. At this point I should have just changed brand but couldn’t find colors I wanted. Tried my best to match manufacturer dates since there no longer dye lot numbers. Finding that even matching manufacture dates do not match in consistency. The current skein of buff I’m using is stiffer and thicker than the first one that is soft and thin.Lesson learned. I’ll never use red heart again. ... MoreLet me start with color. be mindful - they may send 5oz instead of 7oz...
20 January 2024

I bought 12 of these in 4 different colors. The Heather Gray came at 5oz instead of the advertized 7oz. I tried to exchange in store and they said that THIS was what the article number was - - so apparently the website is giving you 5oz and saying it's 7oz. The store was able to let me return it, but I couldn't get the same color in the full 7oz, and had to purchase a substitute color (to get the 7oz... I'm working from a pattern and need to follow rules like that)... and it ended up charging me more. I was disappointed in the cost, and in the website and mostly in the time it took to make the return/repurchase.
