Red Wing 875 6" Moc Toe Boots 7.5

Practically identical to the iconic 877, the 875 is simply a shorter iteration. It's six inches of premium Red Wing Oro Legacy leather combined with Goodyear welt construction, a Traction Tred rubber outsole and triple stitched quality. Red Wing's Classic Work boots were designed and built to withstand the daily rigors of the work day on the farm and in the factory. The lightweight crepe sole featured a minimal tread design to reduce the mud that would cling to a farmer's boots but still provide the underfoot comfort the work day required. Red Wing would brand the crepe sole as the Traction Tred sole. These classic boots featured a moc toe design. The name came from the word moccasin, the Algonquian Indian word for shoe. This combination of the u-shaped moc toe leather upper and the white crepe sole would become the iconic boot style for the Red Wing brand. It is one of the oldest Red Wing styles and a best-seller.

I purchased this pair of 8875s a month ago and I wanted to give my first impressions. I have owned Red Wings in the past and I can say that this pair of boots lives up to the quality standards that Red Wing is known for.So fo sizing; I originally ordered a half size down as recommended but I do have a rather wide foot so I exchanged them for the size that I normally wear in a boot or shoe and they fit snug but feel great.Construction: Unbelievably solid and well constructed for a boot of this price range. The leather insole and vamp lining is on par with boots of a much higher price range. The upper leather is struck-through and it seems to have a bit of pull-up but not as much as would be expected with an oil stuffed leather. There isn’t much that hasn’t been said about these boots at one point or another. Their reputation and status is well documented. So I will just repeat some of the main points that I feel are important when purchasing a pair.Try them on. Try multiple sizes on in store. Chances are your size won’t be the same as your sneakers, and blind buying footwear is never a good idea. I ended up a full size down from what I normally wear and have just the right amount of toe space without getting heel lift. A half size up and my foot would be bouncing around in the boot. That being said, they started out snug out of the box, but I never got any blisters during break in.A good fit should not be painful but could be mildly uncomfortable at the start, but it will only get ... MoreThere isn’t much that hasn’t been said about these boots at one point or another. These things continuously form to your feet the more you wear them. They just get better and better and better and…Don’t sweat the leather. Unless you want them to look like they just came out of the box forever, take basic care of the leather, keep it clean and hydrated, let them dry out if they get soaked, and don’t be afraid to wear em.If you think you want a pair of these, you definitely want a pair. They are phenomenal boots that will custom mold to your foot and your stride with time, will last years upon years with only the minimal responsible care that good leather requires, and, of course, they’re true American beauties.Stupid comfortable and iconically stylish. Just make sure you get the right size.TRY THEM ON BEFORE BUYING.

I bought my pair of classic Moc at the Austin TX Redwing store in 2013, and I still have them with a beautiful leather patina. Totally worth the investment. I might need to send them to repair service for a new pair of soles ;)Quality: Is top-notch, there are no more brands that build their shoes like this, high-quality leather with a strong build.Fit: They come a little larger so I had to go half a number down. And it takes time to break them in but once they are done are really comfortable. I might need to add that the insoles are sole separately.Care: I wash them with saddle soap once in a while and put in some Mink Oil and a Water-repellent cream they used to sell and they look as good as new (both creams from the brand).

Bad First Impression
27 May 2024

I got these boots in December of 2023 and I've put enough miles on them to break them in, but I hate wearing them for more than a couple of hours now. I forced myself to wear them for a week once and I could barely walk by the end of it. I went with the recommended size of 9D, which is normal for me, maybe a 9.5 in some brands, but these shoes fit in the worst possible way. They're too tight in the toe and too loose in the heel. I've tried insoles and they don't seem to help all that much. I wish I could've gotten a half size up and got a bigger sock to go with it! I won't say I can't recommend Red Wing Shoes, I have family and friends that love theirs (that's why I bought them) and the quality is great, but be very picky about the size or you'll have two stylish ... MoreI got these boots in December of 2023 and I've put enough miles on them to break them in, but I hate wearing them for more than a couple of hours now. So disappointed with this Red Wing boot. I’ve loved the look from afar for a while. I bought a different style men’s size 7 Red Wing boot 15 years ago and LOVED everything about them. They got better with wear. These women’s boots hurt my feet and ankles so much. I tried them inside for a few days with the thickest wool socks i own and the fit and feel got worse not better. They’re too long and narrow in the toe box.Not matter the price $20 or $320, shoes & boots should be comfortable! They’re not high heels. Am returning these.

Classic look with great comfort
23 September 2024

I went into my local Red Wing store and got fitted using their ultimate fit experience. My scan was perfect and I was fitted for size 9.5 (D). I also purchased one of the orthotics by superfeet since I have issues with flat arches. The inserts were a little snug for the first week or so but I found that these boots break in very quickly. I suggest wearing thick socks so the leather doesn't rub on your feet/ankles during break in. After a couple weeks, these already feel like they're molded to my feet and I absolutely love wearing them at work. I get tons of compliments on the color and can't wait to get a nice patina look.

My review is more on the service I received at a Redwing Store than the actual boot itself. I bought a pair of these after being told by a Redwing Store employee that they would fit exactly the same as my 1907s did. They seem like a solid boot but after wearing them for one day I thought they fit differently and later found out I was correct. The 1907's and the 875's are made on 2 completely different lasts. The 875's even at the widest width available don't fit my feet correctly. I now have a very expensive pair of boots I can't wear because I was given poor information from a Redwing Store employee. Overall Satisfied!
25 March 2024

Kept debating to get these moc toe red wings and finally pulled the trigger on them. Overall I am very satisfied with the boots they look amazing. The color on the 8875s is literally perfect! I gave 4/5 stars simply because they lack quality control as many other reviews say as well. There is some small imperfections on parts where they cut the leather/where it meets to other parts. And also there is minimal scuffing. All of that wouldnt be a big deal since they are boots they will get beat up overtime, its just the fact that they are $360.00..price would be fine if there wasnt any imperfections..but sadly it seems like most people have this same issue. Third times a charm.

For starters, I love these, and own a handful of RW heritage boots. The sizing process however, is wild! I listened to lots of reviews and decided to go into a store to get properly fitted. They said what size IR do you wear, you will be the same size. They also asked if I owned any wide footwear, and I told them no, but that I had been laser fitted for E2 ice hockey skates. They said I was close to a wide but should wear D. Got me a few wides to try on and insisted they looked sloppy. I told them my IR’s were 10D but did feel a little snug and they said it was because they were not yet broken in. I went with the 10D moc and after the break in my toes hit the end so I sold them for a 10.5D. I’m trying to sell those now and am currently wearing a 10E2 and they are much better. I don’t think I would need an E2 IR but would try an E if they made them. I just feel the mocs run really narrow and that the two different stores I went to cost me a lot of money by not knowing how the 875’s ran.

Would be great, if…
1 October 2024

I’ve had these for a few months now, wearing regularly. They would be my new favorite boots, if they were the same size. I mean they’re both size 10D, but the right boot is straight up just narrower. The toe box is visibly narrower, and has caused these boots to just not be comfortable. I was assured by the employee at the RW store that it would break in, so i stuck with them instead of returning them. The left boot fits like a dream. But the right boot cramps my toes together and the footbed also has weird pressure points/high spots where there should’nt be. Never had these issues with any other boots. I love red wing as a brand but i really wish they had a higher standard for quality control. $350 for some boots that will never fit like they should.
