💜For the past few weeks I have been trying out Redken’s color extend blonde shampoo and have to say I am loving the results. This shampoo is highly pigmented and smells almost like a masculine cologne. While the bottle instructed to use gloves for its application the purple staining on your hands is temporary and easily washes off. The label instructed to leave the shampoo on from anywhere to 5 minutes. Since my hair reacts really well to purple shampoo I have been leaving it on for about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes each time because I prefer to have a bright blonde look over an icy tone. However once I followed up next with the Redken matching blonde conditioner my hair felt nourished and healthy. I love that this shampoo did not strip the highlighted color out of my hair. I really loved these products! I was very pleasantly surprised how much I loved the shampoo and conditioner. I have very thick, long dirty blond hair and this shampoo and conditioner really cleaned my hair and left it soft and smooth. The color of the shampoo is a stunning deep purple and smells amazing. The conditioner is a lighter lavender color and also smells incredible. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has blond hair that they want to protect. I think the price point of the product is reasonable for such a good product that really makes your hair shine. I also liked the size of the bottles. They are a perfect size for a shower. A good quality purple shampoo is hard to come by. Many of them dry your hair out, don’t lather, or the color doesn’t last. The Redken purple shampoo became my new favorite since Amika was bought out and changed their formula and started turning my hair purple. I bought both the shampoo and conditioner to use together and I’m super happy with it. I left the shampoo on for about 3-4 min and condition for about 4-5 minutes. I’m super stoked about the color, but even more thrilled with the feel and manageability of my hair now. I get my highlights retouched every 4-6 months and Redken is doing a wonderful keeping my hair with a very nice and “fresh” color.

Second “wash” - I will sometimes do this test with purple shampoos/conditioners to see how strong they are. I applied the shampoo to my DRY hair and left it on for 5-10 mins. I rinsed it out and then applied the conditioner and left on for 5-10mins. Usually with a strong purple shampoo I will see a drastic lightening with some purple tones in it. It lightened my hair however wasn’t the drastic change that I would expect from applying to dry hair. Meaning, they sell their products on mainland China where it is the law for cosmetics to be tested on animals prior to use. For me personally, the price point is too high for the result. I have received better results from more affordable purple shampoos that have safer ingredients and no animal testing I will be using these products occasionally when I need to brighten a little but won’t be purchasing in the future

BEST for curly highlights!

I have naturally curly hair that I recently began to highlight. Tried a plethora of purple shampoo but have not found one as effective as Redkens. It contains SLS which is OKAY to use if you know how you're using it! I clarify with Redkens clarifying shampoo 1x every 2 weeks and alternate on the off week of clarifying with this purple shampoo. I often use silicones in my curl care products as I live in a humid climate. To avoid the "drying" effects of the SLS I follow with a hydrating mask for ~10 min. BEAUTIFUL volume from removing the silicones and BEAUTIFUL toning! I use a bit on my scalp only to clean, rinse, then follow with more product which I leave on for ~5min and get a really nice second lather after the buildup is removed the first time. My holy grail go-to purple shampoo!!

I have tired SOOO many purple shampoos in my days being a blonde and this one is my faaaave! I use it once a week. Don't leave it on for too long because it will turn your hair a faint shade of purple (I might or might not be speaking from experience, LOL). I use this shampoo first and follow it with my regular shampoo and conditioner. That has been my routine for years! I do not buy the purple conditioner (I never have but it's definitely up to your personal preference) I just buy the shampoo and get the results I want!Disclaimer: when you use this, it will look like you slung it all over your shower walls/curtain but it rinses off and doesn't stain the walls or anything so don't worry! The best yet !

I have been using this shampoo with the conditioner for awhile now. It's the best yet ! It's pricey, but so worth it ! If you want to keep your highlights looking good as new and not worry about the orange that can come along with it, buy this. You won't be disappointed. Also, leave both shampoo and conditioner on for at least 5-10 mins depending on how bright you want to go. It will not hurt your hair by leaving it on there for 5-10 mins. You can also use the shampoo on dry hair, leave it to soak a few mins, then raise of course. The smell is amazing! Highly recommend.

this is the best purple shampoo i've used

this shampoo really works. i use it once every other week to keep my blonde highlights toned. it is very messy. you will get purple spots all over the place no matter what. it lathers well, if you shampoo your hair first. I usually use my regular shampoo first, rinse, then use this purple shampoo and conditioner after. i've left it on too long before and it turned my hair slightly silver/purple for a couple days. it didn't look bad though so I wasn't upset. overall I like this product.
