My hair is thin and fine and to my horror I began losing massive amounts of hair in the shower and when brushing my hair. I was mortified! I have never had something like this happen to me before. A month to 6 weeks after I stopped using this shampoo and conditioner, I had baby hairs spiking all over my head. While I am happy they're growing back I am so sad I waited so long to stop using this. My hair looks wild now with regrowth poking straight up in the air, I have fairly long hair so I am embarking on a long journey of patience here. This shampoo may be great for some people, but be cautious because for me, it was the worst!!

I used to love Redken, I took a long break from it to try new products (like a 5 year break) because their formulas switched. I tried this out again recently because my stylist recommended it and within only a weeks worth of washing (I wash my hair every 2-3 days, so 2-3 washes total) I noticed that my hair began "shedding" more than usual. After 2 weeks of washes and changing nearly everything else in my routine to compensate, I realized that it was this shampoo that was making my hair fall out! And before anyone assumes I'm being "dramatic," IT WAS CLUMPS! I am 24 years old, healthy, and take great care of my hair. When that much hair is falling from the root, its a major problem and it isn't me. I am immediately returning and switching.

I recently dyed my hair purple. I got this shampoo and conditioner after seeing so many positive reviews on it. After buying this product, I used the shampoo and conditioner on my hair and it caused my hair to clump up, left it streaky and dry. When I went to comb my hair, my hair was falling out in clumps and my scalp was itching. I am returning this product and would recommend it. (I have very thin hair, so maybe that could be it as well, but after one use...I do not recommend this product)Also prior to washing my hair, my hair was still very soft, silky, and smooth despite it getting bleached and dyed at the salon. After using this shampoo and conditioner, my friend also inspected my hair and noticed my hair was getting blotches...

Life changing!

I have naturally very dark hair, which I had black box dye on. I recently went to a new stylist (absolutely love her) and she transformed my hair into the perfect dimensional "bronde" that truly is stunning and suits me perfectly. She did an amazing job of preserving my hair health all things considered, and I did not lose any length other than a quick trim and fixing up my layers but I had noticed that my hair was just a little more dry and tangly than it usually is, and I was using the Redken Extreme Length set, which is still amazing but after using the color magnetic I am HOOKED. First of all, this smells absolutely amazing, like if they made a perfume of this scent I would buy it in a heartbeat. Secondly, this cleans my hair without stripping it, I am able to detangle my hair in the shower just using a wet brush while the conditioner sits in it and there is no pain or breakage, and when my hair dries it is so soft, shiny, not weighed down, and honestly just glows. And it doesn't irritate my sensitive scalp!! All in all this is amazing! I use the Color magnetics shampoo, conditioner, and One United leave in with the olaplex #7 bonding oil and I have truly never been happier! BUY IT!!!

My Experience After 1Year Use
9 October 2022

I switched from Pureology hydrate shampoo/conditioner to Redken Color Extend Magnetics because the Pureology was "too hydrating" for me in the summer. I would need to wash my hair every day and it still felt heavy by the end of the day. Like many folks who color & highlight, my hair is much dryer at the ends. With Redken I only need to wash hair every 3 days. I apply a bit of Bb hairdresser's oil from mid-shaft to ends and I have the perfect level of cleaning/hydration.I have had no problem with hair loss, but I have thick medium texture straight hair, so it would take a lot of loss before I noticed. No problem with hair tangling either as some others have posted, as long as I use the conditioner in generous amounts. As far as lathering, yes I found the first shampoo doesn't lather much but it lathers much more with second shampoo. Also noticed that lather increases greatly at some hotels, so I'm thinking water hardness is probably a factor in how much/little lather you get.Overall my experience has been positive and I will continue to use this shampoo/conditioner combo until my hair get's "used to it"; like all other products I've used, eventually the products seem to not remove sufficient oil and I have to switch to a different brand for awhile to get back to status quo. Maybe it is slow build up that I experience - don't know.

Too Darn Good

So I recently dyeing my hair red (since I have dark brown hair it's like a burgundy color), I always wondered why my color was fading quickly. I realized that I wasn't using color shampoo/conditioner. I wanted my color to pop and last longer, so I did my research and saw Ulta was having a sale. I normally don't buy salon products due to the price tag, but I said try this out you might like it.Now this is coming from a person with curly (3B), fine, high porosity type hair. This was really good. The lather of the shampoo was really nice and smooth, made my hair clean, and the smell was pleasant. I washed my hair twice because of whatever left of dye I had. When I blew out my hair I saw a big difference in sheen and in the color. It looked brighter, it no longer looked dull, and my red had popped out more.I'd say give this duo a try, especially if you have curly, coily. We tend to need more TLC.

i didn't like this shampoo the first 2 times i tried it because of the top two complaints: greasy roots and hair feels tangled after shampooing in the showergrease: this is to be expected with an acidic shampoo. chemically, it just cannot remove as much oil as a conventional alkaline or neutral pH shampoo. my shortish fringe bangs would be noticeably greasy by the second day, and i prefer to shampoo my hair every 3-4 days. i just shampoo only my bangs a second time in the shower and bam, no more greasy bangs. over time, my scalp has adjusted and the only time my bangs are noticeably greasy by day 2 is after trimming them shorter.tangled: in the shower, immediately post-shampoo, my hair feels a little tangled, but that's what conditioner is for. once my hair is ... Morei didn't like this shampoo the first 2 times i tried it because of the top two complaints: greasy roots and hair feels tangled after shampooing in the showergrease: this is to be expected with an acidic shampoo. chemically, it just cannot remove as much oil as a conventional alkaline or neutral pH shampoo. my shortish fringe bangs would be noticeably greasy by the second day, and i prefer to shampoo my hair every 3-4 days. i just shampoo only my bangs a second time in the shower and bam, no more greasy bangs. over time, my scalp has adjusted and the only time my bangs are noticeably greasy by day 2 is after trimming them shorter.tangled: in the shower, immediately post-shampoo, my hair feels a little tangled, but that's what conditioner is for. once my hair is conditioned and dry, it's soft, shiny, bouncy, and the natural wave is very defined. i do not use any other products or heat style my hair.i dye the top, or outermost, layer of my hair with demi-permanent dark brown dye and the under layer is bleached and dyed teal/green with arctic fox dye. this acidic shampoo does a great job keeping the cuticle closed and preventing color fading of both dyes. it makes the bleached and dyed hair soft, even the ends.if you want to preserve your hair color, lengthen the time between dye touch-ups, and also enhance your natural wave or curl, give this shampoo more than just 1-2 tries before you write it off.

Im one of those people that too lazy to write reviews but i had to with this. Im on my third wash with this brand and i cannot say enough about it. Ive tried so many different shampoos and conditioner combos but this one got me. 1. hair feels stronger 2. Hair is not weighed down at all 3. Hair retains color for way longer than i even expected. You need very little of the product so you really get your monies worth. Worth every penny on this purchase. I may just buy the mask too :)

so i never really write reviews, but i want to warn others about this product. in the beginning i loved this shampoo and it left my hair feeling very clean while also keeping it soft. i colored my hair in September 2021 and used this since. while it kept the color great with touch ups in between it is now June 2022 and i have noticed major hair loss. i am now showering and having clumps of hair fall out of my head to then brushing my hair after the shower and the same thing happening. this is unusual for me. the prior months i noticed some hair loss but it now has gotten even worse. i just switched to Pantene Sulfate Free and am hoping it fixes this problem and allows my hair to grow back. don't waste your time on Redken anymore because their products are expensive ... Moreso i never really write reviews, but i want to warn others about this product. in the beginning i loved this shampoo and it left my hair feeling very clean while also keeping it soft. i colored my hair in September 2021 and used this since. while it kept the color great with touch ups in between it is now June 2022 and i have noticed major hair loss. i am now showering and having clumps of hair fall out of my head to then brushing my hair after the shower and the same thing happening. this is unusual for me. the prior months i noticed some hair loss but it now has gotten even worse. i just switched to Pantene Sulfate Free and am hoping it fixes this problem and allows my hair to grow back. don't waste your time on Redken anymore because their products are expensive and cause more harm than good!!!
