I adore Redken Frizz Dismiss Instant Deflate hair serum! I have very long, fine hair that is dry, brittle on the ends, and prone to breakage from many years of coloring (every 3 weeks due to gray roots). Wow, I was shocked by this. I got the shade light for my light/med skin. Legit took me 2 seconds to blend. I don't hunk I've ever used a cream bronzer that blends that fast. And it looks beautiful on the face. It's a perfect undertone, and not too yellow or red so it just looks absolutely gorgeous. However while I absolutely LOVE the scent, it has a pretty strong pina colada sweet coconuty scent. And it's pretty strong. I smelled it while applying and could smell it in my brush. I personally love the scent but if you don't... maybe not for you! (Product is so good though)!

The formula is fabulous. Not even just for the price, but in general. Formula-wise, it is basically ideal. However, the shades are atrocious. Neither shades 'light' nor 'medium' are remotely workable for my light-medium olive skin. Shade 'light' is so yellow, it doesn't look like a bronzer. It hardly shows up and just makes my face look extra yellow! I don't even have a tan atm and it still doesn't show up on me. It gives zero definition. Shade Medium, on the other hand, gives TOO MUCH definition and shows up WAAYY too intensely. It's muddy in tone, super unflattering. Makes me look unnatural and unwell. It's not often that a shade range can so successfully upend the positive effects of an otherwise fantastic formula. Beware of the undertones!

This product was recommended by an Ulta consultant. I like to have my long hair (about eight inches past my shoulders) smooth and straight. It is like hay and very frizzy even when it's not humid. When I worked in Florida and other parts of the south and lived on the coast in California I never found a product that would tame my hair. This product works for me. I have used it during the Arizona monsoons, on a boat excursion in San Francisco and in Ft. Bragg where it is very humid and damp. I don't use it per the instructions on the container. I wash my hair, blow it out with a brush (at this point it is still very frizzy), then use a flat iron (before the humidity gets to it, this is what it should look like), then I immediately spray some in my hands and run them ... This product works great on my 2a/2b curls and waves. It has a great smell (confused about reviews saying it stinks), leaves my hair healthy and shiny, and controls frizz. I work it through mid to ends, otherwise it may flatten the top to mid of your hair. The nozzle can get clogged with product, so I always rinse the sprayer off in warm water after use. In extremely humid weather, I'll add the Instant Deflate oil for control. Using too much product can make your hair limp ... a little goes a long way. Redden products are fabulous.

But for summer I'm probably only going to use Medium. The light is definitely warmer and the medium is definitely more neutral. I apply this with a stippling type brush and it applies very smoothly. It sets down and wears very well. My summertime routine tends to be just sunscreen with powder to take down the glow and set it. My face is a lot lighter than my body so it needs warming up. I then apply this bronzer over top of the powder and it works great. I don't have young skin. I'm close to 60 and cream products tend to work well. The medium looks dark but it sheets out in ... This stuff is absolutely amazing. I cannot say enough about this product. First off, I have brown hair but I have it lighten every 8 weeks. That's a lot to put your hair through and often my hair feels dry and easily tangles. Because it tangles, it breaks a lot. However, two weeks ago I started using this product and everything has changed. My hair feels silky soft, it doesn't tangle as easily and thus isn't breaking easily. I use exclusively Redken products the purple shampoos and conditioners, and the blow out heat protectant. My hair style easiers, holds blow-outs longer, and overall just looks better. Give it a try if you are thinking about it.
I will say the undertone is cooler toned (Greenish-grey) which I've never seen before in a contour. However, this is marketed as a bronzer- therefore the undertone makes no sense. I do like it as a contour for my yellow undertone. The next problem is how hard this is to blend. This is a lot of work. You have to warm it up on your hand first then go in with a brush. Any other way and it will be a patchy, unblendable mess. I just think this product is more trouble than it's worth.
I use this product if I shower in the morning and am running to work or out with my friends. I naturally have wavy hair and it's extra frizzy in the summer humidity. This is the BEST product for bringing out more of my natural waves/curls while also getting rid of all my frizzy baby hairs that like to poke out. I spray this on the top of my head, underneath on both sides, and the outer portion of both sides of my head. I scrunch my hair with my hands to make sure all my hairs are coated while giving my hair the help it needs to create the waves I want. After that I don't touch my hair and let it dry as it wants to. I NEVER let this product get below 1/5 remaining before I go and purchase more. Although, this product lasts me such a long time I probably only purchase ... I love cream products and am always looking for a bargain gem. The issue for me with many cream bronzers is their texture. Either too dry or too oily and thin. This one hits that sweet spot of highly blendable, thin formulation with plenty of pigmentation that doesn't go patchy. I got the medium shade because the light shade looked a bit warm. Unfortunately, the medium is pretty dark and I don't think I'll be able to wear it at my palest winter skin tone. Right now I can with a light hand. It's much more pigmented than I anticipated. But it blends so well and last well all day. No patchiness, minimal fading, and a natural skin finish. Very nice bronzer, and at a bargain price!
