Be careful. The amount of pressure to squeeze this tiny vile may take getting used to. When you snap the end off, the open end is sharp. Be careful not to touch your eye accidentally. It’s hard to tell if you are over the eye, so the drop goes in the eye. Like I said you have to squeeze it pretty hard to get the drop out. I hate them. But I’ll work with them and not waste the high price I paid. 🫤

These are great when on accutane and came recommended by my eye doctor. For those who experience blurred vision, I think a common confusion with dry eyes is that all dry eyes are the same. This isn’t true. Dry eyes are most often caused by a lack of tear production and/or lack of tear quality to coat your cornea! Tears consist of water, mucus, and oil… For those of us on accutane, the medication reduces oil secretion… including that of your eyes. So, you can produce tears all you want (which you will if you have normal tear ducts), but your eyes will remain dry without that oil and keep watering to try to fix it… often times, you will get a watery runny nose during treatment because of these tears. This eye drop is super special because it has this oil component for those who need it. Sure, if you have no issues with your meibomian oil glands, you probably won’t realize the difference… and might experience mild blurring similar to gel drops. Treating your dry eyes is more than just finding artificial tears… and this eye drop specializes in just that. And honestly, I really wish it wasn’t so expensive either because they are so helpful (ooo a gel drop version of this would be so nice) but it’s worth it compared to others when you have oil gland dysfunction. Finally, I did experience some ‘burning’ - not real burning, but very mild discomfort when first using this drop… but I experienced this same feeling with other non-gel based eye drops. And from my personal experience, it is my eyes way of showing that they have been dry for too long… it’s literally just a wake-up call to your eyes showing them what they’ve been missing. The faux dryness goes away after a few days, but you will have to use a couple of vials those days to help your eyes heal up a bit and get accustomed to feeling a bit closer to normal. I’d just figure out the cause of your dry eyes (whether that be crusting from mucus, too little tears, oil blockages/dysfunction, etc.) before finding the best drop for you.

I used Systane Ultra PF as well as this. The Systane Ultra PF worked well for me immediately after LASIK surgery, but months later, I wanted something that lasts longer. Refresh Optive Mega-3 does cause initial blurriness just like any other heavy duty drop/gel (if you've used overnight gels, you know exactly what I'm talking about). The initial blurriness indicates these drops are higher viscosity. And, before you freak out about "OMG OILS!" natural tears have lipids as well. I just close my eyes, roll them a bit, and blink...the blurriness dissipates and I find these drops last longer throughout the day for me. YMMV but don't freak out about initial blurriness or the presence of oils.

This is my second repurchase of the refresh eyedrops. I feel like they help with my dry eyes and redness in my eyes. It provides a comfort sensation to my eyes when I use them. It does not have a cooling sensation, which I enjoy, which that seems to irritate my eyes. They are a bit pricey, but I think it is worth it for the money and will continue to re-purchase this since I am at my computer for long hours due to work.
I don’t see where it’s any better than Genteal ointment or gel. But the doctor wants you to use it due to the flaxseed oil. Then I check the ingredients, and no flaxseed is mentioned. None! Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium (0.5%) 1 lb powder in Amazon is $19.99) can you imagine how much that makes? Glycerin (1%) less than $30 for 10 lbs. container Amazon — again these teeny vials — just a drop is in them) Polysorbate 80 (0.5%) 16 Oz is $5 - (again a drop would be used)The above are all retail not even wholesale prices. And yet they are charging anywhere between $20 for 30 indivial vials and up. I guess it’s the cardboard box, the distilled water and the plastic vial that’s costing the money. For the price — it should at least have some. How do they get ... MoreI don’t see where it’s any better than Genteal ointment or gel. But the doctor wants you to use it due to the flaxseed oil. For the price — it should at least have some. How do they get this through FDA and lots of eye doctors without any flax seed. Why is it that everything we need for our health — they try to gouge us on prices. Not one of these ingredients is expensive to buy and you can buy enough of all 3 to take care of your neighborhood for months. $55 for months and months or doses and doses vs their $20+ for 1/2 month for one person. We need at least 2 per day. —
My ophthalmologist recommended this brand after I had cataract surgery. I recently consulted with a second opthalmologist and she also recommended the Mega-3 eye drops. These drops really help with dryness, especially during pollen season when my dry eyes seem drier.I noticed one review mentioned something about it taking strength to snap off the top of the individual doses. I am in my late 60s and was very surprised to read that someone would make that comment. But if you have severe arthritis, as that reviewer apparently did, then that might be something you would want to consider.
Im not thrilled with these drops and how long they last either. I got them after reviewing what would be best for extreme dry eyes. It recommended a lubricant drop with Omega 3 so I thought why not try this? The Refresh Optive Mega-3 Lubricant Drops promised all of this.Well, I have been quite disappointed. They are supposed to be lubricating but they do not keep your eyes lubricated for very long at all. I’ve gotten maybe 30 minutes to a hour from one tube that I use twice. The top of the tube does pop back on but you don’t want to keep it that way and use it for more than the day. Individual tubes normally do not have preservatives which is one star that I did add. Some of us react to preservatives in eye drops.I do like being able to grab an few individuals ... Very frustrated… and in pain
I have been looking forever for drops that would help my little girls eyes! She is 9 years old and has been suffering from allergies and dry eye. These drops have helped her eyes SO MUCH! Her doctor recommended Restasis, but after some research we decided it wasn't for our little girl. We are so happy to have found these amazing Refresh drops! 💗
I love this! I have meibomian gland dysfunction, which means that the natural oils struggle to get through the glands and into my eyes where they belong. I love that this has flaxseed oil in it and helps with the water-oil balance. My eyes feel really good after using this. I try to keep a regular schedule so that my eyes are never starved for the oil and water they need to be comfortable and healthy. I would highly recommend this product to fellow MGD sufferers.
I've tried everything on the market. Not generally a fan of Refresh products. They make my eyes feel dryer for a short time after use. BUT, I read castor oil is very good for you eyes. I googled which products had it and this does. I use it three to four times a day, the same vial (I keep it in the fridge) and my eyes feel better then they have in a very long time. I went a step further and purchased on Amazon, castor oil eye drops for nighttime. Been a game changer for me!! I would recommend a try for sure. Everyone is different so hope it works for you like it did for me.
