Remy Martin XO Cognac 700ml

A blend of up to 400 different eaux-de-vie. The art of blending allows Remy Martin to express the full aromatic complexity of this XO Cognac Fine Champagne. Produced since 1981, Remy Martin XO has excellent texture, complexity and richness. Remy Martin set out to create something special when producing this- sourcing resources only from what are considered to be the Top 2 sub regions of Cognac, Grande and Petite Champagne. There is a wide spectrum of aromas of late summer fruit, combined with rich floral notes of white flowers such as jasmine. To say that Remy Martin has been around for a while is something of an under statement. Their roots stretch as far back as 1724 when the business was first established. Another key date comes much later in 1948 when Remy Martin decided to source their grapes from only 2 of the 6 regions within Cognac- Grande and Petit Champagne. This can be seen as a very strong quality statement as these two regions are generally considered to provide the best grapes in the region. The velvet texture, the myriad of aromas of jasmine, iris, fig and cinnamon, the memorable taste that lingers longer on the palate.

I was at a rooftop hotel bar in Williamsburg with a few friends when a lovely older lady suddenly came up and joined us. We made friends immediately and she was the epitome of class, chichness, and had an idgaf attitude. We talked honestly and openly about all kinds of things and she shared her wisdom and secrets with us. I asked her what she was drinking and it was . She let me try it (this was pre-covid) and it was lovely. To this day, I enjoy cognac when I want to have a drink. This product is smooth and goes down easy. I wasn’t a dark liquor person until I tried this. It doesn’t take much, just an oz or 2 to feel relaxed and lovely. Much better imo instead of going through several cans of hard seltzer or beer. I love that my experience with this has a story ... MoreI was at a rooftop hotel bar in Williamsburg with a few friends when a lovely older lady suddenly came up and joined us. A Casual Look Into Remy Martin’s XO

This is the first XO cognac I have tried and I certainly do not have the palate to enjoy all the subtle nuances it has to offer. That being said, even as an inexperienced drinker I can tell you the average person can quite easily determine this cognac is meticulously crafted and a quality liquor. Flavor notes, the nose initially included a very uni blanc grape smell present with an ethanol smell. After letting it sit I was taken back by the change in smell from the spirit oxidizing. After about 5-7 mins the smell evolved into a more thick, sweet, caramel. Now the taste, first off the most prominent taste is the uni blanc grape, it is so strong it almost has a sort of “pop” to it, almost carbonation like. I have tried only one other XO since this one, Courvoisier XO. I must mention the differences between these two to conclude this “review”. In short the Courvoisier was much more smooth but didn’t have as much character as the Remy Martin. The first thing I noticed when trying Courvoisier was massive lack in tasting an uni blanc grape that was at the forefront of the Remy Martin. In short I would recommend Remy Martin to anyone who is trying to explore the more complex aspects fine spirits have to offer, while it may be a bit more harsh than other XOs it has a very definable and distinct flavor profile (probably because most of the grapes were sourced from the Grande Champagne region) . Those attributes made it most likely easier for me, a casual drinker, to appreciate the many layers in this cognac.

This cognac is tasty and wonderful. I've never bought a Remy before, but I made a great decision with this one. It was simple to decide because Total Wine in my neighborhood had it for $139. I now realize that the bottle I own contains some caramel (burnt brown sugar), but the complexity and nuances were excellent. With a lengthy finish, it also has fruity, fig, grape, and some floral notes. Great Work!

I shouldn't have had high expectations for a 10-year-old.
28 November 2022

Definitely not my fave; I had great hopes instead, spend your cash on 1738 By the way, I have a lot of expertise with fine brandies, and this is obviously just my viewpoint. When looking for brandy, age really important. Although it was quite lovely on the scent, the taste was alcohol-heavy and had some rough edges. The juice gets sweeter as the berries get older, and Hennessy VSOP is more smoother than Remy Martin XO, to name just two examples. If you appreciate tasting, you must try it to decide for yourself, but I wasn't impressed.

Nice, but not reliable.
28 November 2022

Over the past many years, I've consumed a number of bottles of this XO. It appears that at least one bottle is given away on every birthday and holiday. Having stated that.... Some of the bottles, in my opinion, were fantastic, while others were only passable. Why is this XO so inconsistent? I don't understand. But when you find a fantastic bottle, it's like winning the lottery!

Poor and offensive
28 November 2022

I used to drink Remy Martin frequently when it was among the smoothest cognacs on the market, but in the early 1980s, when it wanted to compete with Courvoisier, to which it was losing market share, RM chose to lower the quality of its cognac. The grand fine still offered the smooth, vintage RM, but the standard RM had turned fairly harsh. The fact that good cognac shouldn't burn your mouth when you sip it is among its most essential characteristics. Unfortunately, this XO reminds me of the old rotten gut cognac. RM Centaure has been my beverage of choice, and I've been given the XO as a gift. How disappointing! The Centaure is a vast improvement. Spending money on this is a waste.

Provides a very distinct taste each time the glass is risen for the lips to sip in a small quantity. As the liquid flows through the throat and into your body. An an amazing slow warmth generates from the centre and slow moves outward. Flowed by a keen sense of amazement to asking yourself what is this feeling?

I only ever drink cognac like this! Not for the faint of heart, REMY XO! One of the best brands of cognac available is this one! It demands a particular palate that appreciates the finer things in life! I like to gamble, and I often spend $35 when I visit a casino. ready for a try! I won't consume the free drinks offered by casinos. I keep an extra bottle of REMY XO in the cupboard because it can be difficult to find during the Chinese New Year. Give REMY XO a try when you have that special occasion; you won't regret it! Price is fair.

XO by Remy Martin: A Passive Exam

I've never tried an XO cognac before, and I definitely don't have the palette to appreciate all the delicate flavors it has to offer. Having said that, I can tell you that even as a novice drinker, the average person can find out rather quickly that this cognac is expertly made and a fine spirit. When it comes to flavor notes, the nose first had a strong mono blanc grape scent combined with an ethanol scent. I was surprised by the fragrance shift caused by the spirit oxidizing after letting it sit for a while. The fragrance changed into a thicker, sweeter caramel after 5-7 minutes. The uni blanc grape has the most pronounced flavor right now. It is so intense that it nearly has a "pop" or carbonation-like quality to it. The uni blanc grape has the most pronounced flavor right now. It is so intense that it nearly has a "pop" or carbonation-like quality to it. The grape flavor develops into a more flowery flavor, which is followed by a taste that is more leathery and/or woody. For the next two to three minutes, this evolution is quite observable. To end my "review," I must note the differences between Courvoisier XO and the other XO that I have tried since this one. In summary, the Remy Martin ha d more personality than the Courvoisier, which tasted much smoother. When I first tried Courvoisier, I was struck by the stark absence of the mono white grape flavor that was so prominent in the Remy Martin. Remy Martin has a very distinct flavor profile and, although being a little harsher than other XOs (perhaps because the majority of the grapes were obtained from the Grande Champagne region), I would recommend it to anyone looking to explore the more intricate facets of fine spirits. These qualities perhaps made it simpler for me, a casual drinker, to appreciate the cognac's numerous layers.
