Incredibly lightweight, yet still has all essential functions including GPS location function.Came with clear and easy instructions on how to register its use in Australia.Hopefully never actually have to use it for a rescue but reassuring to know it will function well, if need be.

Amazingly light and compact

Compared with my original PLB brick (0.5 kg) with no GPS and the older frequency, this one is a GT Mini-Minor. When my recent 406 MHz unit reached its battery life and needed replacement, I considered just replacing the battery. Not worth it; a review of units available impressed me with how much PLBs had advanced. This was my pick, and I recommended it to our bushwalking Club.

Lightweight PLB

Got this PLB after reading good reviews about it online. Hope I won't be needing it while hiking.I agree with the other reviews here, the instructions for testing are confusing especially for testing the battery. I actually contacted Snowys warranty support team to asked about the battery issue and they've been very helpful to clarify the confusion.

Yea it’s more expensive, yes the battery life is shorter, but you cannot beat the size.Lets face it, no one wants to carry anymore than they have to and you don’t want to make excuses not to carry your beacon, so the smallest and lightest is the best as far as I’m concerned, I take this everywhere, even on day runs in the hills behind home, it fits snuggling in my running vest where I can easily reach it and it won’t be lost or separated from me. The whole point of a beacon is to have it on you, so the size of this one means I can also fit it in a jacket pocket, rather than my pack when tramping. Having your beacon in your pack is no good to you when you loose your pack in a river crossing gone wrong or when you fall down a bank and can’t move at the bottom. PLB1

Great compact design.Aerial is able to be re-wound after testing how it pulls out.Flotation pouch seam-stitching makes the pouch unnecessarily bulky, a shame considering compactness of the plb itself. Only a consideration because I cram it into a life-jacket pocket when kayaking. PLB & pouch are well attached to each other, but the separate string for attaching the plb to me (in my life-jacket) risks tangling .

PLB1

Thanks for rapid delivery. The smallest, lightest PLB with GPS, and bombproof. This is my second PLB1 - the first has travelled with me on many remote adventures, and survived the distance, until the regulation time to be replaced. I wouldn't travel without it.

Personal Satellite EPIRB Pocket size security!!

RescueME PLB1 - Personal Locator Beacon

Purchased the PLB1 to carry with me on fishing trips in isolated regions of the Snowy. The unit is small and fits into the fishing vest without issue. Registration was simple , 10 mins on the Beacon website and its done.The service from Tom's was as usual quick and efficent

Small and lightweight

Hopefully will never have to use this device but I am impressed by how small it is. I plan to use it while kayaking and hiking. It fits easily into my lifejacket pocket. It is much lighter than my previous PLB so will help keep the weight down in my pack for overnight hikes too. Instructions for testing are slightly confusing and after reading a couple of reviews where customers had received ones with poor batteries i wanted to be sure i was interpreting the results correctly. I found a few YouTube demos to be sure of what i was doing. Not sure this is a multi-use device as Snowys video states. The manual states that the battery must be replaced immediately if it has been activated.

tiny security

This unit is absolutely tiny, I had another plb previously and this is probably 1/4 of the size. I had an issue with the testing of the battery on reciept- but snowys responded quickly and clarified the instructions and meaning of the indications- user error (completely misunderstood the manual). The only issues I have with the product relate to the design of the floatation pouch, where the fabric closure strip / trim may partially obscure the LED strobe, also (unless I am missing something), in order to remove the floatation pouch and utilise the clip in mount you have to cut the lanyard which appears to be held to the unit by the use of a knot which is concealed within the unit itself, I am not sure if there is a way to remove the top cover to access this knot or ... MoreThis unit is absolutely tiny, I had another plb previously and this is probably 1/4 of the size.
