Resident Evil 4 steps away from 1 through code veronica with the cinematic camera approach. Camera is now over the players shoulder. Nearly 1st person but not quite. Puzzles are still there, bosses and sub bosses etc. but quicker. not zombies this time more possessed rednecks from the balkans in europe. Going to your menu still stops the action (I think in Resident evil 5 this stopped.) I'd say for a first time player it offers around 20 hours game play if you take the time to work things out for yourself. It is more arcade and I still prefer the relaxed, shoes clicking in a deserted building or abandoned mansion and different keys for different doors etc. But this is still a milestone in gaming in terms of fluidity and flawlessness in design. After 4 I feel the franchise lost its way so enjoy

Four years ago and I still highly recommend this game to anyone if they're looking for action, horror, good plot and great characters all in one game!Leon S. Kennedy is now a secret government agent assigned to rescue the presidents daughter Ashley Graham. He then lands himself in Pueblo village and finds that there's more to this town that meets the eye. With previous characters from the past Resident Evil sequels and a new make-over with third person shooter perspective, cutting edge cut-scenes and new horrifying creatures that lurk not only in the night, but now also during the day. This game was by far the best adventure for me.Despite comments in recent years that it's not a "true" Resident Evil game because it doesn't contain anymore zombies...this was ... MoreFour years ago and I still highly recommend this game to anyone if they're looking for action, horror, good plot and great characters all in one game!Leon S. Also, it seperates itself from the other Resident Evil games because it was actually supposed to be for Devil May Cry 4 but the game developers changed it. Smartest move of their careers if you ask me!

This game is just another port which has been modifed a bit. Still a good overall game with better controls on the ps2. The main game is overall too easy as i clocked it on professional 4 times without a gameover once. So i ended up knifing all the villagers, which sure saves ammo.Trust me im a resident evil rookie and this is the easiest game of the resident evil series. The only hard things are the timed mode and the other mini games.

This game is great and from what I understand a real move away from what the RE series is all about. This is a gun and run, and sometimes freak out over noises/lack of ammo. For those still keen on PS2 like myself, this is a must have. You will play it again (I just did with my partner watching and she loved it), and all the extra missions with Ada just brings a whole new level of replayability, and insight into the overall story. Easily one of the top games of the PS2 generation
This is one of the greatest of the RE collection for me, it has it all action suspense and scraping by on ammo and green herbs to survive. I highly recommend this game to any Resident Evil fan.
Good value for money despite being few years old now
Ah Resident Evil 4, the first new Re game. I had heard a lot about it prior to release, mainly the videos, screenshots and Leon returning from Re2. Supposedly Leon had been infected by a virus whilst walking around an Umbrella esque mansion. Hmm intriguing. However upon playing the game this was not the case, the developers had decided to drop this in favour of the retail version of the game... Was this a good idea, hmmm maybe maybe not, It sold and still continues to sell well so from that perspective the game succeeded. But I was and still am an old school Re gamer, as you can well imagine my first impression of playing the game was really disappointing. But I was and still am an old school Re gamer, as you can well imagine my first impression of playing the game was really disappointing. The new shoulder camera was and still is something I despise, the aiming was and still is annoying and it seems like the game is designed more for action combat than actual survival horror. I suppose this is quite fun but it is one of the elements imo that makes it less of an Re game. Whilst it is true that Re3 started taking the series more in that direction, Re3 was still a lot more survival horror than this. This is supposed to be Resident Evil not Devil May Cry! Capcom did the same thing to Dino Crisis ugh.. You see I used to own a Gamecube and naturally having a copy of The Re remake; at the time exclusive, I decided to buy and give the new Re4 a go. As I mentioned before it was incredibly disappointing not to mention so frustrating to play, I feel like I constantly died not to mention, failed terribly every time the button pushing event occurred, it seemed like it never worked properly! As you can imagine, having constantly died and feeling frustrated, I hated every minute of playing this game and the extras unlocked were not even worth my time! I vowed never to play this awful thing again and sold it. Capcom did give me some hope with the likes of the Outbreak series and I found myself playing 1 and especially file 2 constantly, this was and still is the Re I miss. Sadly due to poor sales Outbreak was not continued with and the old style of Re was and still seems to be no more to this day.. A lot of people say Re4 is the best Re game ever, I don't agree with that at all, but is it the worst? well no.. I decided to re-buy it and give it another chance, this time for Ps2 since I had heard you unlock a lot more. Having played Re4 again I have changed my opinion on it somewhat. I played it with an open mind and found I enjoyed the experience more this time. For one thing the event buttons actually seemed to work a lot better in this version which helps! Also Ada's seperate ways is agreat addition and tells more about the story. One thing that annoyed me story wise on the GC version, was that you never got to find out what Ada was doing behind the scenes. Thankfully not the case here. Some people have said and still say Re4 is not an Re game, well it is and it isn't. I feel that far too much time is spent on action combat and not enough on puzzle solving, backtracking and exploration and of course the fixed camera angles. Fixed camera angles make the game more challenging and you never know what you will find in the next area. The stupid overshoulder view takes that aspect of Re away, which is a shame. There is an element of exploration in Re4 which was enjoyable, particularly the slower paced moments where you actually had some time alone to immerse yourself and explore the area, it felt like an Re game lol. Had there been more of this I would give the game a higher rating. The sound in this game is really well done, the soundtrack is very ambient and suits the scenarios very well. The Regenerator breathing is downright creepy and the enemy itself is just as creepy as Nemesis. Upon completing the apparently now definitive version of Re4, I will give this game a 6/10. Also I have given the ebay score a 4, because it is better than I remembered.
Fancied a bit of a nostalgia trip - didn't disappoint! Great gameplay, and in very good condition
I'm currently in the middle of playing the game, and I am up to the part where you kill the second boss creature. It's a very cinematic game, and cutscenes have been integrated into gameplay almost seamlessly, but the animation is noticeably better while the picture is slightly more blurry, but otherwise very well done.My only problem with this game is with the way the character moves in response to player input. If you move left, he rotates left, and right he rotates right. If you push forward he moves fowards, and if you push back he steps backwards but does not turn around.Perhaps this is because I was expecting totally freeform movement, but Resident Evil 4 sticks to the survival horror format, so people who have played a fair amount of survival horror will ... MoreI'm currently in the middle of playing the game, and I am up to the part where you kill the second boss creature. It's a very cinematic game, and cutscenes have been integrated into gameplay almost seamlessly, but the animation is noticeably better while the picture is slightly more blurry, but otherwise very well done.My only problem with this game is with the way the character moves in response to player input. Basically your sound options consist solo of selecting monoaural, stereo or Dolby Pro Logic II.Graphically, the horror setting is fantastic. The art style is fantastic. Technically the game is far from perfect, I've seen inside and through my own characters head and I have occupied the same screen space as the 'zombie' I was protecting myself from.Storyline pulls you in, you want to know more. The only thing I have noticed is that this game is more about suspenseful action than storytelling, that is to say the story is mainly told through what you see on-screen, and in cutscenes. Occasionally you make a cell-phone call to your base of operations, and sometimes you pick up notes left by the antagonists.
It's the best resident evil scary suspenseful action game i've ever played. The computer graphics looks realistic to me. The blurry atmosphere is quite irritating but it does made the game realistic and creepy. Unfortunately i can't finish the game on professional mode 'coz i find it difficult and still can't beat "Jack Krauser" to finish "assignment: ada mini game". Tips from anyone would be highly appreciated. But anyway, i'm glad for having this game.
