The Resmed AirFit N20 Nasal Mask - Bonus Mask Cushion - EOFY Special is a mass production product and the materials seem quite flimsy. I am concerned it will not be as durable as the other masks I have personally previously purchased. If the mask was individually manufactured to suit the skeletal features of an individual then perhaps manufacturers may justify the substantial cost. I will be pleased to be proven incorrect as I’m certain there are a majority people who require CPAP intervention to maintain a minimum health standard and who struggle with the substantial costs of masks, pump machines and consumables.

I've had several different style masks (through a different supplier at the time), and I've only been using CPAP for about 2 years. I started out with a ResMed AirFit F20, then moved to the AirFit F30. After using each of those, I wanted to try the Nasal Pillows (AirFit P10, I think), but they irritated my nostrils. Finally, I thought I'd try the ResMed AirTouch N20, which arrived from The CPAP Shop yesterday (purchased 8/11/21 with free shipping). I'll admit I've only used it one night, but I can already tell this is the one. Definitely the best mask I've used. I forgot I was wearing it half the time. Easy to fit and adjust the headgear. I never had a big problem with the AirFit silicone, but the AirTouch cushion feels much better. Great price, too. If you're looking for something in between a full-face mask and nasal pillows, this is the mask for you. Only one confusing part: the box has an icon that reads "Device Setting" (for my AirSense 10 I assume), and underneath that it says "Pillows". That made no sense to me, so a quick live chat with The CPAP Shop agreed with me that a nasal mask should probably be set on my CPAP machine as "Nasal".

I was concerned about claustrophobia that has developed in recent years (probably due to choking at night for years without knowing it). The nasal cushion seemed less imposing than the full face mask. I thought if I got panicky I could breathe through my mouth. As it turned out, I found the nasal cushion to be very comfortable. The headgear i feel all night, but once the pressure turns up the nasal cushion barely touches my face. There is no breathing through the mouth option, as once the machine is moving air, if I open my mouth, air comes whistling out. They obviously send you this one N20 ( silicone seal, not memory foam)to start out with because it's the cheapest. But doesn't make much sense since most snorers are mouth breathers hence the stopped breathing, so why use a nose only mask. The silicone seal caused major irritation on the bridge of my nose.A full face mask makes more sense. But many of us have skin irritation and breakdown with the silicone seal options. The F30 was a good full face option but it only comes with a silicone seal option. My next to try is the memory foam seal F20.
I have tried several mask. For me, most have been bothersome, move while sleeping and cause skin irritation. My head is rather small, which limits me on mask. That combined with my nose size and shape makes it difficult to find a good fitting mask. This one fits nice and secure. Very little leakage or or movement while sleeping. Yes, at first it does seem like a lot is on your head. However, the feel and support is worth it. Another plus about the mask, is the soft foam fit of the cushion against your face and the easy care of cleaning it with a mask cleaning wipe after use. The only downside is the expense of replacing the cushion once a month. I have found that mask are a personal preference. What works for one person, may not work for you.
There were pros and cons to this mask for me. First of all, excellent scores for AHI--0.4 and 0.1. It was a comfortable mask and didn't produce the heavy chest pressure I have experienced with other masks. However, I have had cancer surgery on my nose and this left heavy red marks and indentation on the surgical site at the bridge of my nose. Additionally it left heavy mask marks on the side of my face where I had rested for the last half of the night. It did not keep my mouth from dropping open and left my mouth uncomfortably dry. This mask did not work for me, and I was grateful Lofta accepted it back with no questions.I have a female friend who is a longterm Cpap user, and she really likes this mask. I like the nasal masked and have been using Wisp for a long time but Apria did not have the one I wanted in stock so I bought this one. In comparison to the Wisp this is really loud because of the air outlet. I actually thought something was wrong but after consulting ResMed and online chat it appears this is just the way it is. Another nice thing about the Wisp compared to this is that on the wisp there is a loop at the top of the headgear that allows you to put the hose through. I think this helps keep the hose out of the way when you are sleeping. The resmed does not have this feature. Overall just a poor design and I'm stuck with the product because Apria does not do returns on open items.
I had the ResMed N10 and LOVED it. I was told it was replaced with new this similar product. That was a lie. Everything about this mask is inferior to the original. It is hard and uncomfortable. It's shape hits your face in all the wrong places. The soft tube is shorter now so you feel the connection to the CPAP tubing which is more firm while you try to sleep. The magnets are larger so you feel them more. WHY did you change a perfect product to make something that is unusable.
In reference to claims of "How can a nose only mask stop a mouth breather snoring" complaints please research and understood first how CPAP works. I use this product and it prevents my mouth breathing. Ergo no more snoring!I choose the foam over the pure silicone due to comfort / rash issues. Yes the seal isn't as good on the foam vs silicon but if comfort is an issue then a possible solution could be achieved. As to the discomfort / effectiveness some experience, your prescriber should have informed you that each person requires a different solution for effective reduction / elimination of sleep apnea.
