As a 6'5" tall rider, I am always in search of well-fitting gear, not to mention bikes. My height is mostly in my legs. I wear 36x36 jeans in Levis 511, which as far as I can tell are sized accurately, unlike many modern garmets which lie a little about the size of your waist. These pants fit me well in XL Tall with room to cinch the waist adjusters down about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way. Leg length is fine and the expander panels above the knees keep the cuffs from pulling up in the riding position. They do pull up a little on my 900SS, but I also look like a circus monkey on that bike, so it's no fault of the pants.These are true pants, not overpants. The zip-out liner and inner cuff material tend to bunch around the bottom of the cuff, I need to take the liner out to investigate what might be done there. It's not a deal killer, just a nitpick. As another reviewer mentioned, the velcro panels for cuff adjustment are silly. Just put one big patch of velcro down there, slap the cuff shut and go riding. That said, I haven't had any trouble with the velcro coming loose. I do appreciate the calf adjuster snaps, nice touch.Finally, the biggest oversight in my opinion is the placement of the male snap to hold the thigh vent panels open. On most of my bikes it's not a problem, but on sportier models the male snap can contact the fuel tank and mark the paint. Velcro would have done the job just as well and would be easier on the bike. I'll probably have a triangle of elastic installed to cover the snaps when not in use, but at this price, I shouldn't have to do that.Note that the zip-out Gore-Tex liner is the waterproofing component so the outer shell of these pants will still get saturated in the rain. Also, there is no removable insulated layer. That may seem like an oversight, but I appreciate a closer fitting garment that won't flap in the wind and these pants do the job well. I've never needed the insulated layer in previous riding pants, even in sub-freezing temperatures, and I do get cold fairly easily.

The pants fit well for my 6' 4" body at 200lbs. The problem is with the Gortex liner zipper at the pant bottom. It is a very small fragile zipper and both sides are completely crushed. The pants no longer zip at the bottom now that the zipper is broke. The problem is all the hard parts of the bike are down by the feet and over time the tiny zipper just gets trashed.My 15 year old BMW suit has two small loops and snaps at the pant bottom that work great. Within 6 months the Revit liner couldn't be zipped in due to this design flaw. Too bad for such nice pants otherwise.

Had these for less than a month. Definitely not waterproof. Rode through a decent rain which left my thighs, butt and between my legs wet. They hold water like crazy too. Initially these were listed as having a built in liner which was my reason for purchase, but after receiving them I reached out and they changed the description. The quality of the pant is great, and I felt very comfortable and protected. But I bought them primarily for the goretex waterproofing, which is 100% lacking. Revzilla let me return these for store credit, so 5 stars for customer service. Now to find a full goretex pant in the $700 range

I own the previous generation of Defender pants and jacket so I have a fair comparison to the new Defender Pro GTX.The new Defender pro is a bit more close fitting than the previous similar sizing, partially due to the elimination of the thermal liner. In my case dropping the thermal liner improved the utility for me since I use heated gear to manage body temperature at low riding temps.I have no problem with the new waist closure but still prefer the previous closure system.I really like the new back venting system in the pants. In my limited use of the venting it’s superior to previous single vent on the front. The new pants won’t be a concern.I realize the are expensive pants but they met all my needs for long distance riding kit.Overall, I really like both the new Defender PRO pants and jacket.
I wear jean 29-30x30 and the S size is perfect for me. I wore Sand 2 pants and Cayenne pro pats the same size. Compare with them Defender is slim fit. Gore-tex layer kept me dry in heavy rain, but it's hard to believe that a Gore-Tex pants doesn't have waterproof pockets. I wish it had cargo pocket too. The outer shell absorb water and you feel coldness but Gore-Tex layer keeps you dry. Air flow is good. I feel relax, (but I haven't worn it over 80 F) Protection is CE Level 2 same as Dominator and Cayenne pro, but the knee protection is 3 inches shorter and 2 inches narrower than Cayenne pro.! ( wearing and taking off the pants is easier). Also the knee guards are adjustable. I'll start off by saying I haven't wore these in the rain, I see other reviews that aren't impressed with the waterproof aspect. However the thermal liner does a great job at preventing windchill when it's cold out and on hotter days they're pretty breathable even before opening up the vents.

None would specify these components in a loaded area of a garment for any other reason.Rev-It are charging top dollar for the features they are offering. The predecessor to this pant included a thermal layer and cost less. The same can be said for the jacket. With this latest generation of product it appears cost cutting for higher profit margin at the expense of durability and functionality has become a priority.The problem: Two days and 900 miles into a 6500 mile trip, the waist adjustment anchor on one side of the pants tore out completely. This has resulted in my being unable to cinch the pants highly around my waist (6'3" 196 LBS 34" waist). This has resulted in an unsafe garment as they fall down easily standing let alone in a fall. This was not due to faulty construction. (I am involved in performance athletic product manufacturing professionally) The failure was due to a completely inappropriate component / design engineering decision that could only have been made to save money.The (far too thin, 1/3 the size of what Klim and other brands are using)) plastic "D" ring anchors that secure the waist adjustment straps are sewn into the pants with a plastic flange that is part of the "D" ring. When a sewing machine punches its needle through this thin plastic flange it is creating a stress riser, allowing the plastic to easily tear on the dotted line. Kim and just about every other brand I have seen stitch a fabric or webbing loop into the seam of their garments, with bar tack reinforcements, to hold their significantly larger diameter (and stronger) "D" rings. The jacket features similar components. I have no doubt hey too will fail over time. Well outside any warranty timeline.I will be returning the pants. Sadly, without having new stronger "D" rings installed (sewn into the pants) using webbing loops, the pants will fail and require replacement repeatedly.Two other issues that keep these from being fantastic pants:1) An unrealistic amount of velcro at the bottom cuff of each leg holds dirt, requires careful alignment and does not secure the cuff as effectively as a single wider rectangle of velcro.Older, far more simple Rev-It closures (with just one big rectangle of velcro) were far more effective at holding the cuff closed. Additionally the current use of multiple velcro strips looks silly. The money saved by eliminating a large portion of the unnecessary (costly) velcro would have afforded the "D" rings to be properly executed.2) The sewn in lining material (not the gore tex liner) n the cuff is not adequately secured inside the outer shell material. It is always hanging out of the bottom of the pants by 1/2" or more.Looks bad. PITA to put the pants on and take them off, gets the inside of the pants dirty.Get it together Rev-It. You do so well so much of the time.These failures make the product unusable or compromised.

I really wanted a Gore-tex outer but there are not many options and I compared these with the Poseidon and these offer more versatility and have better armor. Not good. It is the Gore-tex liner that gets pulled down as it zips far to close to the edge of the outer pant. It's a design flaw and I have not thought of a fix yet. It's not a big deal but it's annoying.Fit wise I am wearing a Large/regular which is a size up from my previous Rev-it pants. I've packed on a few but at 5'7" and 175 lbs and a 34 " waist the fit is perfect. Plenty of room in the waist and crotch area which is key as I ride an FJR which has a very wide saddle.

The hip armor is a nice touch, even if a bit awkward, as many don't offer. The liner easily zips in and out.Simply put you are getting a very high quality garment here that I feel will protect me well in the event of an off. Heavy 1000d cordura in high impact areas with the see soft level 2 Armor is very important to me as this will be do it all gear from touring, commutting and adventure/dirt.
