I grew up on this drink in Europe and now introducing it to my boys. It has become their favorite fruit juice. The recipe has changed over the years so it can't be considered exactly an enriched "health food" type of drink anymore, but it is a good alternative to sodas or other premixed drinks with lots of sugar. With Ribena you can dilute it down in water as much as you want. If you'd like the kids to drink more water, and not so much sugar, just mix watery drinks for them. It's also nice to drizzle some Ribena over vanilla ice cream for a home made sundae treat.

Both myself and my children love Ribena squash it’s a timeless classic with a fruity scent that takes you back to childhood. Bursting with blackcurrants which are harvested in Britain allowing Ribena to support and stand by British farmers and that makes me feel proud! The taste is simply delicious, with over 30% of real blackcurrant juice added, it’s bursting with fruity goodness, not overly sweet, rich in vitamin C and absolutely no artificial colours or flavors are added. For us, we keep ours in the fridge as Ribena is delicious when served cold. When my children have colds we also have warm Ribena and when the sun sines we make Ribena popsicles.I particularly love being able to pass along a firm childhood favorite to my own children who love Ribena just as ... MoreBoth myself and my children love Ribena squash it’s a timeless classic with a fruity scent that takes you back to childhood. My 92 year old father enjoys this diluted 4:1 per the instructions. I cant say if he notices the sweeteners. Im constantly annoyed by the on-brand bottle shape which doesnt want to fit in the fridge. (Did the old all sugar Ribena need the fridge?). The price per litre difference between the 1.5l and the 850ml bottle is ridiculous too.

Seems to taste as it used to, almost !!Was great until they "new and improved" the formula when the anti-sugar legislation was put in place, it tasted unpleasant !!We're buying it regularly again now the mixture appears to have been tweaked, again. If people wish artificial sweeteners there is the other version of Ribena. We prefer to drink less of the nicer mixture as a treat.
I have to say that I find the taste of this Ribena compared with the older version (phased out a couple of years ago) to be not noticeably different. I do agree that not everyone wants sweeteners in their drinks rather than sugar; if that is the case then go for 'Rocks Blackcurrant Cordial'. The children and I did a blind taste test at home with six different blackcurrant cordials and Ribena still came out top (and that included Rocks). What I want to know is why Kelloggs refuse to make Ricicles when it was the second most favourite cereal in the UK! BRING BACK RICICLES!! Kelloggs say it's because they are adhering to government policy. I say everything in moderation.
I have drunk Ribena all my life. So much so that it is always in the cupboard and has become part of the family. I find it quite nostalgic when I drink it reminding me drinking it as a kid with friends and family.I was delighted when they brought out the concentrated no sugar added version as at the time I was told I had to reduce my sugar intake and Ribena would have been one of the things to give up.Although the taste is the same I do find I have to use a little bit more to get the full blackcurrant flavour. It’s a great cool drink on a hot sunny day. Love it!
I have been drinking Ribena sugar / none sugar for 30 years.until today! I cant do it any longer. Its kept in the fridge (never had to before) and it still goes a shade of brown after 10-ish days. It smells funky as hell from the day its opened, tastes like off milk & has an aftertaste of poop. Not to mention the dry mouth & frequent migraines. Ribena was like a drug to me as a child & a drink Ive never found an alternative to as an adult but Id honestly rather drink water than put myself through this. The recipe change in 2018 was strange but ok, then the 2020 recipe bomb hit.wth! They should have just called it a day & stopped making it rather than change the ingredients to whatever is inside these bottles. My stock of six bottles is going in the bin
The big bottle is great for keeping families quenched for longer. Made from British blackcurrants, this has no added sugar and lots of flavour. You don't need to use much to get a refreshing fruity drink, and you could freeze it in moulds to make ice lollies. The bottle has a slightly blueish tint, possibly something to do with it being made from 100% recycled plastic, but the liquid it contains is the recognisable Ribena colour. Despite being such a large bottle, I found it easy enough to pour and the design of the top of the bottle makes it almost drip free.
Huge 1.5 litre bottle of Ribena’s iconic blackcurrant juice drink .Thick concentrate so only need a little to make a refreshing cold drink , equally as nice with some hot water to warm you up on a cold day .Very sweet , rich in vitamin C and great that it contains over 30% fruit juice from British blackcurrants.Great for kids and adults alike , still flavoursome and thirst quenching as it always has been .A hit in our house , and the bottle lasts a long time .
As a family we consistently buy squash to drink because it lasts quite a while depending on how strong you like your drink - I prefer it quite weak with just a hint of taste whereas other family members prefer it a tad stronger. Unfortunately this Ribena Concentrate is just way to sweet even if I just put a dash of it into a glass of water. I didn't even need to open the bottle first before that 'Ribena smell' set me in edge haha! You know that feeling where your teeth feel crumbly and gritty after consuming something sweet? That's the feeling I mean.As I said a bottle of squash for us can last week's sometimes because a little goes a long way and especially with a 1.5 litre bottle. So if you have quite a sweet tooth this product is for you, if not seek elsewhere.
