I have been using this mulch for years. I would describe the previous product as chucky. The five bags I have just bought are nothing but rubbish, most likely sweeping from the floor. Very little solid pine chips just a heap of dust and rubbish. Like a lot of other garden products Bunnings now sell the quality of this product has deteriorated to the point where I won't buy it again.

Ordered online for delivery. Two days later 15 bags arrived. Amazed at the size of the bags(70L) - huge yet light weight and easy for me to move around the yard where mulch was needed. The bags arrived fully sealed and undamaged. The mulch inside the bags was moist with a decent mix of large and small bark pieces. There was no foreign plastic or wire as some people have noted in other comments. Coverage of mulch is exceptional. I normally use eucalyptus fine mulch (40L) and have to redo every year but seriously this larger chip mulch is so much better. After 3 weeks there is still no weeds at all even after heavy rains. Gradually working my way along the garden beds and it looks so much neater as I put the mulch in. I love the fresh pine smell also. Finally I am ... MoreOrdered online for delivery. Good quality. Mixture of large pine chips and fibrous bits. Don't worry about the blue bits, they are probably just markings on the trees. More expensive than getting loose dropped off from local landscaper, but the bags are much more convenient and less labour intensive. You need a lot more than you think for a decent coverage.

I liked buying in bags. Their easier to move and spread myself. Some bags did come with a lot of rubbish e.g. rocks or extremely large pieces of rubbish bark which was very disappointing.Value wise got what I paid for and it suited the small job we had.
Got so sick of all the weeds coming up when using a finer eucy mulch. So I swapped to the Pine Bark Mulch. The mulch is course and excellent quality. NO foreign objects like nails, plastic or metals in the bags. Just make sure you get non damaged bags - why pay full price for half a bag. Love this mulch it goes a long way and actually does stop weeds a lot more effective than finer mulch is. Looks great in a dark red brown colour. Large bags 70 L are easy to pick up and move around the yard and my delivery orders are always new bags.
I bought 20 bags of the product and found it had uniform specs across the 20 bags. I was happy with the quality (probably 5 stars on quality). However, when you need a large quantity it works out far cheaper buying it in bulk from a landscape supplier - $74/cu metre as compared to $16.83 for 70 litres (there is a 1000 litres in a cu metre). I recommend the bags for small areas and convenience.
Have bought multiple bags over the last 12 months. All have blue metal rocks in them. The first time I purchased I was guessing it was accidentally contaminated but now I've purchased many bags over time it's clear that it is done on purpose. Very poor
I bought four bags from the Clyde North Store. This is the description of it:"Pine Bark Mulch is an attractive timber mulch for landscaping garden beds and pots. It is screened and graded to ensure consistent sized chips."...............excuse me but IT IS NOT screened and graded to ensure consistent sized chips. Have a look at my photos.
Ok, I made a mistake when I purchased this online without seeing it first. I got a large item delivered so added some bagged mulch and soil to the delivery. I've purchased this before in NSW and it was a chunkier mulch, so I was a little disappointed to open these bags to find a very fine, almost dust consistency mulch. If that's what you want you'll be very happy. It looks nice on the garden bed but it will break down very quickly and need topping up in no time at all.
I have been using Richgro Pinebark Mulch for some time now and previously I found it satisfactory, However, the last ten bags I purchased a couple of weeks before Christmas were disgusting. They must of been 'old' bags as they seem to have semi composted and were full of pine dust. I had to use them as I wanted my garden to look good for Christmas. I had to scrabble the bark through my fingers so the dust could fall through and the lumps of bark, a handful at a time, be put on my garden. This was a very laborious, time consuming activity. I couldn't take the bags back as there was no one to load them back into my car at the time and at 82 years of age I can drag them out onto a wheelbarrow, but can't lift them up. I have kept the last bag I used, it has about a ... MoreI have been using Richgro Pinebark Mulch for some time now and previously I found it satisfactory, However, the last ten bags I purchased a couple of weeks before Christmas were disgusting. I have kept the last bag I used, it has about a quarter full of bark dust left in the bottom and small pieces of what look s like wispy bits of bark (If Bunnings would like to see it). This is not the quality of the Richgro Pinebark I've used in the past.
