A good pipe cutter, very accurate and cuts to the line without taking more off than expected. Easy to use ratchet handle and slides out quickly with a press of the toggle. The deburring knife is also sharp and easy to use.But the pipe cutter it is fairly chunky and heavy, making small pipe cuts a bit difficult. The only other problem is the slight wobbliness of the ratchet handle which needs adjusting when lining the mark to cut on the copper pipe. This can be a problem if accuracy is needed to the millimeter and it could sometimes cause threading when incorrectly positioned at an angle due to the slight wobbly nature of the ratchet handle.

Great product. Used to cut a lot of 1/2” copper pipe. Saved my wrist a lot of work. Biggest nuisance was an unsteady track when repeating cuts. For example, when you cinch the blade towards the pipe, it tends to wobble a bit. Sometimes I’d have to screw and unscrew the knob a few times to get the blade centered.

I bought this pipe cutter to cut 2-3/8" Steel pipe used for a chain link fence. I was skeptical at first, but it performed flawlessly cutting 16 gauge steel pipe. I used the default copper cutting wheel that came on the unit. The spring release is a great feature. The wheel tracked very well and when I rotated around the pipe it fell right back into the channel it had started.I believe the key is to not turn the knob in too much at the start. Take your time and don't over tighten the knob. Took about 5 minutes to cut through the steel pipe. Left a nice, clean cut all the way around. There were some burrs on the inside but that's easy to fix.I cut 11 steel pipes and the blade wheel looks brand new still. No dings or nicks in the blade at all. I had some 2 inch diameter emt tubing I needed to cut down, and I asked my internet friends and the top responses was this manual tube cutter, and not some sort of power tool. At 60 ish dollars I could have gotten a cheap power tool. Also I didn't believe a manual tool whose sole power was through tightening a screw and scoring would cut through this thick metal. Pvc and copper, sure. But I gave it a go, and color me surprised, it worked.

I used this to cut a section of a 3 inch OD stainless steel exhaust. It made a clean and straight cut. I had to remove the exhaust system since there was no room for me to turn the tool 360 degrees around the pipe. Please make sure when buying a pipe cutter that you are buying one that is made to cut steel pipes. Some are made with cutting wheels that are dedicated for plastic, multi layer steel or corrugated stainless steel tube.Cutting wheels can be bought for your particular needs but to avoid delays, make sure you are buying a pipe cutter with the right cutting wheel the first time.

If you cut any amount of tubing, then you want a professional grade cutter. This swing cutter is one. Yes, you have to order it, but compared most 'DIY' grade cutters hanging on the rack, the performance is incomparable. Four rollers to support the tube in the cut will keep your cuts running true and the cutting wheel lasts quite a while and is quite sharp out of the box for fast cuts. I have had excellent performance from all of the RIDGID tubing cutters and pipe wrenches. The non pro grade brands, not so much. They work for a short while, but soon enough they will 'thread' your cut for you. Quality costs in the short run, but is inexpensive in the long haul.

My first copper cutters were a close quarter rigid cutter. I have had it for years and hasn't had any issues besides the blade having to get changed out, But that's a given. So with that said it's a no brainer I get the big brother to the baby cutter. Just like anything rigid it works great and last a long time. No need to spend hard earned money on cheap tools that don't last.

This Ridgid 31642 Model 152 tubing cutter was indispensable to me as I had to replace a few sections of top rail on my badly damaged chain link fence; I had to work alone, and I could not have done it without this tool. It cut through the damaged sections of 1 3/8 inch galvanized top rail very quickly, and though it is a very powerful cutting tool, it is compact enough so that I could "spin" it around the rails without having to disconnect them completely from the fence fabric thereby enabling me to install the new top rails and then re-connect the fabric to the new rails. I also have the super heavy duty Ridgid 32820 Model 2-A I/8 to 2 inch pipe cutter, but it was too big and heavy for me to try to use alone, although it is an awesome tool .

What I liked... nice compact form factor. Feels light yet solid. Easy to handle and use. What I didnt like... yes made in the US but almost twice as much as another major brand I was looking at and three times more than random generic brands. The cutter also has a little play since its part of the adjustable knob rather than fixed on the other side. You just have to be careful that your first turn is straight. Maybe due to this I felt it did not cut as smoothly as a bulkier cutter I also tried out. Too bad I couldnt find one that had the best of both.
