The Rode PG2-R Pistol Grip Shockmount works with either this Pro Cable or a longer, standard XLR cable. A standard XLR cable can quickly be run from your microphone, pasted through a strain relief pinch point and then through grooves on either side of the handle. If you are using the pistol grip connected to a field mixer/recorder a single cable works well to connect mic and mixer. When using a boom pole with an internal cable, the PG2-R Pro Cable is a short cable that can stay with the pistol grip when removed from the boom, providing a single connection point at the base of the pistol grip. The male XLR connector has a groove that matches a ring in the PG2-R Pistol Grip to further secure the connector in the pistol grip.

This cable is the ideal length and stiffness. The junction where the large part of the cable meets the smaller cable is ideal for any kind of custom bracket one might make. Just the ticket for putting on my camera and keeping the cable from dangling in the way of things.

This is a specific cable for my Rode blimp. I never disconnect it from the blimp. It makes connecting and disconnecting an XLR cable much simpler than routing the cable from the inside to the outside of the blimp. Only real downside is the cost, but it works well.
