The second iteration of the RODECaster Pro is a winner! There are tons of improvements from the original, making it easier to use and easier to integrate into various workflows. The only gripe, which isn't really fair, is that the device is so new that there aren't enough materials (from RODE or third-parties) on setup techniques. For example, there are some differences when integrating this with an Adobe Audition workflow. This isn't a dealbreaker, but it made things go a little slower when injecting it into our current setup. That small nuance aside, the RODECaster Pro II is a winner!

This machine is absolutely beautiful, intuitive, and powerful! Everything I could ever possibly want and then some. Whatever your plans are this thing is overkill. So I use it to stream vinyl on TikTok. I have my stereo hooked up through the 1/4 line inputs, assign the 2 inputs to work as stereo and I have a beautiful stereo signal broadcasting out. Easy peasy. I'm also using a rode mic to talk between songs. This thing is so much fun to use, so easy to use and everything I could ask for and more. If you're on the fence, stop hesitating and just get it!

As a proud owner of the Rodecaster Pro I, I wasn't sure if I would need this upgrade. I've used it for live-streaming over the past year and typically only used a single mic source, so I was even considering downgrading to a single microphone audio interface to suit my needs. However, with the upgrade to the Rodecaster Pro II, I can now bring in a multitude of different media sources to add color to my live-streaming while being able to output to multiple audio tracks in my PC. This solve so many challenges that I was facing and allows me a lot more creative flexibility to exact my vision. I would highly recommend this versatile tool to any creative out there, whether it's for live-streaming, creating music, podcasting, etc.

I have to be clear on this point. The construction of the RCPII is a clear setback compared to the RCPI. The RCPII is completely plastic, but, it's not cheap or soft plastic, it feels great to the touch. The only thing I don't really like is the on/off button, the RCPI one is much better. But where the RCPII shines is in all the possibilities offered by its new firmware (based on Linux), which makes it a very versatile and customizable device. You can tailor everything to your workflow, you don't have to get stuck with Faders you won't use, and there's a jump in quality to the filters and mic effects, on top of the 76dB gain of the preamps.I love it, and with each update it improves and adds new features. It's worth it
I'm not an audio guru, so getting something easy-on-the-brain was a major selling point for me when looking to start a podcast. I watched a load of Tom Buck videos on YouTube talking about the RodeCaster Pro II, and then purchased this package from B&H. The RCP II really IS easy-on-the-brain, the Shure SM7B sounds amazing, and the headphones are pretty comfortable and sound good. The Auray mic arm is decent. If you can upgrade to the Rode PSA1+, it's worth the money. I haven't jumped into the hosting part of it yet. This is a great package, though. No hesitation to buy it. Strongly recommend. recommended.
I was using the Rodecaster Pro initially, but the improvements on this new board had me upgrading to the PROII. Great for recording my podcasts and the enhanced tech, features and efx are amazing. I use the touchpads frequently, and the new versatility is welcomed. The only improvement I can see right now is the addition of a countdown clock for those touchpad sounds. Right now, it's a pie chart that gets smaller as time runs out, so you don't have an exact time cue - just a smaller piece of the pie. I obviously know when a bed is going to run out, but not sure why you can't toggle a graphic vs. time countdown. Perhaps in a future release.
I've owned both the original and this newer updated version. If you're reading this and wondering if you should by the RCPII or the original, read through the negative feedback.I've had this II edition arrived with a loose panel, and it eventually stopped working altogether within a span of a couple of days upon arrival. I returned this and repurchased the real deal. The RCP I is stable. It works. It is a solid podcast and broadcast audio console. The RCP II is an inferior computer system made to emulate a broadcast audio console. They did this to make it friendly for gamers and other types that are not into podcast or broadcasting. It's broken. But the RCP I instead.
Even after reading and watching many reviews and tutorials, I discovered the following only after setting it up myself:PROS:Brightness for Screen and buttons can be manually adjusted and can dim when not used for a set time. The headphone output is much more powerful than expected and can be dangerously loud. Thankfully theres a setting for high sensitivity headphones which can lower the maximum output. An undocumented secret feature is to hold down the EQ level knobs to then adjust the Q to change the width of the bell.Bluetooth input and output sound excellent when connected to my 1Mii Bluetooth transmitter/receiver.HARDWARE CONS:Crosstalk from a high-Z (line/instrument) channel can be heard on neighboring microphone channels. That could be especially bad for microphones that need lots of gain. With only 4 analog inputs, if using a stereo pair at line level, only one microphone input will be clean from crosstalk.Mic pres arent as quiet as expected. I haven't actually used it in a performance yet so maybe the pre-amp noise isn't so bad in a real world scenario.SOFTWARE CONS, HOPEFULLY FIXED IN FIRMWARE UPDATES:No effects available for the Bluetooth channel. No processing or effects available for Sounds from SMART PadBluetooth, Computer and Stereo-linked inputs cannot utilize the Pitch Shifter, Robot, Megaphone or Voice Disguise effects. I expected Voice Disguise to be available for Bluetooth phone calls. The initial screen brightness hurt my eyes, and I couldn't lower it until initial setup options were all set.Even the Flat preset has lots of processing enabled, giving me a poor first impression when listening to prerecorded music through the mixer (which already has processing done to it). I had to create my own Neutral preset to have all processing disabled.Effects parameters show dials without numerical values, so a camera should be used to document parameter levels.Bluetooth output from mixer, when connected to a Mac or PC, connects in a highly compressed low quality mode optimized for phone calls via headsets. I was unsuccessful forcing APTX or AAC codecs via Terminal on Mac or with using the Bluetooth Tweaker application for Windows.FYI:[CODEC supported by device] CODEC Type: SBC, Sampling Frequency: 16/32/44.1/48kHz, Channel Mode: Mono/Dual Channel/Stereo/Joint Stereo, Block Length: 4/8/12/16, Subbands: 4/8, Allocation Method: SNR/Loudness, Min/Max Bitpool: 2/250[CODEC selected by Windows] CODEC Type: SBC, Sampling Frequency: 44.1kHz, Channel Mode: Joint Stereo, Block Length: 16, Subbands: 8, Allocation Method: Loudness, Min/Max Bitpool: 2/53IN SUMMARY :This mixer is optimized for podcasting, and it excels for that. The workflow and lack of a graphic equalizer is a little cumbersome to use as a live back-of-house mixer, and the cross talk and preamp noise hinders music production and critical listening.I will be using it for karaoke and have programmed the Pitch Shifter on one bank of SMART pads to key change down 1-4 semitones (keys), and another bank up 1-4 semitones. That is a great feature, but unfortunately I have to use two pads for each key, one for the left channel and one for the right, since the effects cannot be applied to a stereo linked pair yet.Overall I like it very much and will keep it, especially after observing how responsive Rode is to listen to customer feedback and implement improvements with firmware updates.Again there are many great features not mentioned here, as they can be learned from many other reviews and tutorials. I'm not aware of any other mixer on the market so compact or reasonably priced with a comparable feature set, including the built in multi-track recorder, so I give it 4.5 of 5 stars.Cheers!~Andrew
If you use audio for podcasting or live streaming, this is the unit for you. Now in the spirit of full disclosure, this is the third unit I've had in this model. The reason being is since this is a brand new product the launch had quite a few stumbling blocks, not any retailer's fault. This was the manufacturers fault. However, this one seems to be functioning fully, and without any major software/hardware issues at this time. I think it's been out long enough now that maybe they finally got their production issues resolved at Rode.I am a long time user of their products and have the first generation of this product, which still is in use in our studio, but this one takes everything to the next level, and I mean everything as far as sound quality, functionality, ... If you are coming from the Rodecaster Pro to this, you won’t be disappointed! If you have the money to get this, then this a wise investment (if you are able to afford it). The Rodecaster Pro 2 is, and will be (with future updates) the gold standard for home studios, and a magnificent centerpiece for your home studio. On a petty note, when I received my Rodecaster Pro 2 box via delivery, it was missing the outer sleeve to the Rodecaster Box. The box was very dusty and scratched, and I was concerned that there could be some contents missing, but it was all there! Other than that, Best Buy delivered, and the Rodecaster Pro 2 is magnificent!
