The SC-4 does exactly what it says. There is no noticeable audio quality issues and it 100% works. The quality on the male and female end are also top notch. However, the build quality is an issue. The cable that runs between the male and female end is incredibly flimsy. For an idea, the SC4 cable with is less than the width of the cable that runs to one apple earpod. To be honest, I do not feel confident that it will take what a normal production would throw at it, and I would not be comfortable putting it in any sort of bag with other things for fear that something would damage it.I give it 3 stars because it works as advertised, but I can't recommend it because of its build quality. To be honest, I would look into basic iPhone splitters that separates a MIC ... MoreThe SC-4 does exactly what it says. There is no noticeable audio quality issues and it 100% works. I would hope they would consider making a better, more robust version.

Didn't work, no audio comes through this thing. The wire itself is super thin. I originally bought this for use in a situation where I would need an angled 10mm jack. When I needed it this thing just failed.Wouldn't reccomend at all.

Disappointed. Two B&H audio specialists told me this, plus the iphone lightening port audio adapter would allow connecting to my Sennheiser wireless system for audio recording with my SE2020 iPhone while recording video. Didn't happen! And I had to workaround with a separate digital PVM recorder while doing documentary in Europe. Will have a word with the store manager when I get back.

Exactly What IDK I Needed
28 April 2019

I was looking to send audio from the 3.5mm headphone jack on my Mac to the 3.5mm mic jack on my cell phone, because I had a professionally recorded voicemail message I wanted to use but my service provider only allowed live recorded messages. (I wasnt just going to hold my phone up to the speaker on my Mac, because it would ruin the quality.)I had a male-to-male 3.5mm cable I tried to use, with no luck. I was confused as to why it didnt work. I couldnt figure out how to do it and went to a few nearby stores looking for advice, but every sales person just looked at me with a confused look and had no idea how to help.Luckily I noticed B&H was around the corner from a job interview I had. Ive always wanted to go there, just never got around to it until that day, and boy am I glad I did. I spoke to a gentleman in the Pro Audio Dept and after about 10-15 minutes of carefully listening to my needs, and taking the time to understand what I wanted/needed he informed me I needed an attenuating cable because the voltage coming out of the headphone jack would have destroyed the mic jack on my phone. I was finally on my way, but then just as I was about the thank him for his help he exclaimed WAIT!! and informed me that the two jacks were configured differently, (the headphone jack was TRS, and the mic was TRRS) and I would have no luck with just the attenuating cable so he pulled up this item on his screen explained it would convert the connector to what I needed and sent the whole order to pick up. I purchased and picked up the two cables and excitedly went home to test out the items. They worked!!!tl;dr This item was exactly what I needed, and it did its job perfectly.

Gets the job done.

Pretty simple and to the point. It essentially lets you connect your mic to your iPhone's 3.5mm lightning adapter. Not 5 stars because of it's price and because the first one I purchased did not work with one mic, but did with the other. A simple no brand version worked with both mics. I called Rode and they had it replaced. Good customer service.

Inexpensive and does the trick!

I just needed an adapter to take the LINE OUT from my mixer (TRS) into my iPad’s external microphone jack (TRRS). I was thinking that I’d have to invest in an iRig product (and software) or a dedicated USB microphone plus adapter for the iPad. But I stumbled upon this simple and inexpensive adapter. It worked as expected out of the box...., although I had to adjust the output levels from my mixer to prevent the clipping that occurred initially. But that wouldn’t be the adapter’s issue by any means.Upon removing it From the box it came in, is that the cord looked and felt very thin and light, and I have doubts about it’s durability. But, the jury’s still out on that topic until later. But this adapter does the trick and inexpensively. There was another similar product that I saw on the internet that has a third jack to plug headphones into so that you can listen/monitor real-time. I should have bought that one instead only because I’ve found that I have to unplug this adapter from my iPad in order to hear the playback. I could listen from my mixer, but my levels have to be turned down so much that nothing comes through on the headphones.

Needed trimming
20 April 2017

It does the job perfectly. I had lost my expensive American connector and am so happy that this exists as it's smaller and lighter, just right for iPhone use. One small problem. I have my iPhone in a bumper naturally. It's not thick like some cases, a nice slim bumper. Even so, the adaptor doesn't fit into the hole because the "shoulder" is too wide. So I took a scalpel and trimmed it down and now it fits and everything works. But in my opinion it is a silly design. Everyone has their phone in a case, don't they? Such a device should be manufactured to allow for it. The American one certainly did.

Why the adaptor.
29 May 2021

With the adaptor it ended the chance of the headphone being accidentally hit and damaging the headphone and/or the device it was plugged into. Several of the devices i use do not theBluetooth option so direct connection is my only choice. With the adapter the chance this damage is eliminated.

Worked surprisingly ok for my unusual purposes
7 August 2017

In order to save money, I ordered this as recommended by an audio engineer at my local Guitar Center, in order to see if I could connect my Arturia Microbrute synthesizer to my Macbook Air's headphone jack, and record onto my computer WITHOUT AN AUDIO INTERFACE. With a little experimentation I was able to get the computer to recognize my synth as an external microphone, by plugging one end of a 3.5 mm patch cable (the kind typically used for CV) into the headphone port on the synth, and the other end into the TRS portion of this adaptor, which is then plugged into the computer's headphone jack. It's a very finicky setup, as I had to keep adjusting and twisting the cable just right until the computer could recognize the synth, and, even then, it didn't always work. It's a very finicky setup, as I had to keep adjusting and twisting the cable just right until the computer could recognize the synth, and, even then, it didn't always work. A couple times, my computer reacted in a weird way, like pausing and playing my iTunes whenever I pressed a key on the synth. When it did work, it worked pretty ok, and with decent quality. Because of the difficulties, however, I think it will be worth investing in a good audio interface in the near future! It's worth noting that the female TRS portion of this adaptor wasn't deep enough to fully and securely plug in a 3.5 mm cable, both for a normal TRS aux cable and the CV patch cable I used. Because of this, part of the metal conductor was exposed, and the cable could fall out of the adaptor more easily. For me, this wasn't a major problem, but was a little annoying.

This piece of hardware, for as little is asked of it, simply does not perform. Initial test performed with the 3.5mm junction on a laptop. The minispeaker, when connected directly, performed well. With the adapter in the circuit, there was no audible signal, no sound of any kind. Disappointing
