I bought a pair of these to go with my Rode NT55 matched pair, and they work well. But also this windshield fits on my AudioTechnica AT4053b hypercardioid mic I use for indoor dialog on a boom, or mounted on my camera. I found that now I can take that mic outdoors, rather than use my much larger shotgun. The WS8 doesn't cut strong wind completely, but I took it outside in 15-20mph gusts, and it lowered the rumble considerably. For normal use in low - medium breeze it works great. Ans whatever rumble I got with high winds was easily removable in post. I am happy with this purchase.

Yes. Although I've yet to try it in very windy conditions.

These work well for the price range. Quick and simple to apply, fit my NT55s well. I've tested them during the mad weather we've had in the uk and they've put up a good fight. Wind still somewhat audible, but only in intense blasts. Even then, they stop the mics from clipping. They're also great in very light rain, no artefacts in recording and protect the mics for a little while. They're quite bulbous, with an internal foam bulb, so you'll have to accommodate for that if you're wanting to set up an xy stereo. I generally record with a wider angle stereo setup, so these work perfectly.

I bought this in hopes it would fit on my mic,a nd it fits like a glove. PERFECT! I use this mic for indoor interview audio and needed a bit of fur to help with breathe reduction.
It's hard to beat this windshield for the price. Blocks a ton of wind. I do wish there was a way to hold it on the mic a little tighter (I am using it on a Rode M5)
As usual with Rycote products the build quality is excellent and the materials very durable.I bought two of these WS8 windshields to use with a different, stereo mic - the Superlux S502 and although they are a little tight they fit well over the caspules. And better too tight that too loose.I'll be using them when I take my S502 outside for field recording purposes.
Given the reasonable price these do a great job. So far no wind has been bad enough to mess up my recordings. Very happy with these.
I frequently use my Rode NT5's outdoors, as I am a sound designer, and I'm often recording things that aren't easy or are outright impossible to do indoors, such as throwing things, recording vehicles, etc. Obviously, the foam windscreens the mics come with are not up to the task of outdoor recording. The WS8's do a very good job cutting down wind noise, and are very convenient in that they just slip right onto the mics, rather than having the foam and the fur as separate pieces, as with some other options. Also nice is that they have a rubber gasket at the base of them to keep wind from blowing in from behind. Another thing they are very useful for is keeping the microphones clean. If you're recording something messy, such as mud, or you're flinging snow around, they can help keep that off the mic itself. Now, these are, of course, not nearly as effective as any kind of blimp or zeppelin style of windscreen, but the WS8 is substantially cheaper than those. If you need the ultimate in wind protection, you're probably going to want something along the lines of a Rycote Baby Ball Gag, but if you simply need good wind protection, instead of extreme wind protection, and you don't want to spend a ton of money, these are perfect. On a side note, when I first received these, one of the two was fairly difficult to get onto the mic, as it was a VERY tight fit. However, as I have now used them a fair bit, it slips on just fine, while still being sufficiently snug to keep wind out. So if you get some and they're hard to get on at first, just allow them a little time to break-in before you think they are faulty.
This is a windscreen for a small amount of wind. If you need anymore of a reduction you'll need to go to a blimp and shotgun.
Used this on my MKH 8040's for some vehicle recordings. Provided reasonable wind protection (comparable to other fur setups, of course high speeds introduced some wind rumble up to ~250Hz), fit snugly on the 8040 without fear of sliding off, and kept nearly all the high-freq material.
