Roland VH-10 V-Hi Hat

Roland s VH-10 V-Hi-Hat utilises a single-cymbal floating design which is able to be easily mounted and played up on a traditional acoustic hi-hat stand. It delivers a strikingly similar playing feel as an acoustic hi-hat, and features the same natural rebound feel and swinging motion of an acoustic hi-hat. The rate and depth at which you advance the pedal of the hi-hat stand smoothly, greatly varies the tone of the cymbal from open to closed, and it s possible to also use hi-hat techniques such as half-closed playing and foot-splash. Roland s VH-10 enables you to responsively express the tonal change which occurs when you hit the hi-hat in the closed state before immediately opening it. It s even possible to differentiate between strikes on the bow and edge of the VH-10 too!

The cymbal arrived well packaged. Its a nice upgrade from the CY-5 on the original TD-17KV. But remember you also need to purchase a High Hat stand. I brought a Pearl stand (beautifully built) from Rockshop as well. Let's see how these new additions are after a few months play.Mike O'Sullivan

I bought the Roland HV-10 Hi-Hat a few months Back. It was brand new and it looks like a great hi-Hat Pad. The reason I bought this was to replace my Other HV-10 Hi-Hat that came with kit VAD306 Kit. After owning it a few months after the released date. The Problem with this HV-10 Hi-Hat is I only had it for 3-4 months after replacing it with my previously one. It seems like Roland doesn't make those HV-10's good enough to last long. I'm a drummer and I play almost everyday, I enjoy all kinds of music. But When I play fast 16th notes on the Hi-Hat. I'm very disappointed after replacing this Hi-Hat twice and running into the same issues with it in a short period of time.

Great Hi-hats
10 March 2020

Bought with my TD-17 module and had no problem getting it calibrated. Much better then just using a cymbal pad that doesnt move like real hi-hats. And they work great when I use drum software on my laptop. Yes they are kind of expensive but its Roland and they will probably last a long time just like my other Roland cymbals.

Great hat for ekit

I was using a Roland cy14 with an FSR pedal boat trigger. Worked well but didn't have the feel or response I was looking for. Ordered the VH-10 over VH-11after quite a bit of research and have no regrets. Better articulation, response, and feel.

Not a hi-hat

Doesn't even come close to being anything like a real hi-hat. Better than the plain foot pedal, but I am not impressed. The worst thing about Roland V-Drums right here. Works - kind of.

Replaced the ATV 14" Hi-Hat
17 September 2021

I bought the VH-10 to replace my 14" ATV hi-hat.When purchasing my ATV EXS-5 drums, I immediately indicated to the shop that I wanted to exchange the ATV module for the Roland TD17 module. So I've been playing on the EXS 5 with TD17 module for about a year and a half now. The ATV hi-hat works well here, but in terms of calibration, that never went smoothly. So I've spent a lot of time on setting it up correctly several times. I also changed the screws of the hi-hat and put them both on top for example. That not only but especially the loud tapping sound (of about 87-88 Db (with the double cymbals)), made my wife complain sometimes. That made me decide to look for a better and quieter hi-hat. My eye soon fell on the VH-10. (Also because it's on my wish list). That made me decide to look for a better and quieter hi-hat. My eye soon fell on the VH-10. (Also because it's on my wish list). But of course also because I already used the Roland TD17. The VH-10 is often rated better by some, than the VH-11. For me, in terms of likely fine playability and a nice price, a wishful replacement. My first experiences are fine! I experience a softer tapping sound. Now of about 83-85 Db. This seems like little but in practice the VH-10 really sounds lighter in terms of ticking sound. So for my family members better to hear (in my opinion). But how does it play? In one word: GREAT! The calibration is fine. As a result, the playing feel is much better than the ATV hi-hat, as I experience. It's a cool hi-hat, slightly smaller than the 14" ATV, but that doesn't affect the playability at all. It just invites you to want to play this wicked hi-hat! So if you're in doubt, don't.By the way, I have bought the VH-10 set without original packaging but Drum-Tec supplied me with almost the same excellent packaging. So don't hesitate if you have any doubts about the VH-10.Just buy it. You really won't regret it.

first impressions .. .

This hi-hat came with the Roland TD-17 KVX kit I recently purchased. I got the DW 3000 2-legged hi-hat stand to put it on. You will most likely want a 2-legged hi-hat stand for the Roland TD-17 kits because the frame included is the new "compact " size, having an extra leg down there will NOT be to your advantage. The response and feel of the VH-10 will appear FAMILIAR, but hitting a rubberized hard plastic cymbal is obviously NOT the same experience as with a metal cymbal. The rebound is very close and the amplified sound you'll hear convincing, BUT, you'll have to learn WHERE you NEED to strike the cymbal to create a CLEAN tone - missing the sweet spots where the sensors are result in a muffled half-cymbal half clunky-plastic sound.I use 14" hi-hats on my ... MoreThis hi-hat came with the Roland TD-17 KVX kit I recently purchased. This is important because you WANT to keep the sensors lined up correctly in front of you or you get muffled strikes. You will be correcting THIS alignment a LOT !Overall, at THIS time, this hi-hat is the best thing going out there at this price point. I gave it 4 stars because we have NOT arrived at the point in Rock and Roll history when V-drums have perfected the cymbals. Until then you can enjoy these .. .
