Best size cage, great value for money. We’ve added tunnels and all sorts to this too so lots to do for our hamster.Easy to clean out.We had this for our first hamster and current hamster. The wheel did snap off a week ago (after 2 years of use) so we brought a second cage and the design has been changed slightly so the wheel has been relocated and it attaches to the side of the cage through the bars and therefore removing the previous weak point that snapped before. Also, the new wheel is better and bigger! Nice and quiet too.

We got this cage 3 days ago for my daughter’s hamster and she has had him nearly 2 years. He has ESCAPED TWICE from it. The roof on the house only has to be lightly tapped from inside and it comes unclipped and opens. However, after putting something heavy on top of it to stop that happening, he somehow managed to escape AGAIN (we’re not sure how as I checked and the cage was secure). Only this time, we can’t find him and my daughter is devastated! also the water bottle leaks terribly and causes pools of water in the cage. The clips that hold the cage down to the base are not secure at all either they don’t clip down tightly so the cage can easily be lifted by a small child etc.

The cage size doesn’t meet the required floor space of 450sqm your hamster should have. Anyone with a Syrian hamster definitely shouldn’t use the provided wheel it’s far too small for the size of a fully grown hamster, it will cause the hamster back problems..I do however recommend an Ikea Detolf or even a second hand fish tank (20+ gallon). Or even some of the nature valley habitats. Please please don’t keep your hamster in this cage.I’ve adopted a pair of Campbell hamsters in which they came in this cage. I immediately upgraded them into an ikea detolf. If you need any advice on hamster care I recommend Victoria Raechel on Youtube.. she has some Great advice.Remember- the more space the better..

I bought two of these approximately 3 months ago for my two Syrian hamsters. The bottle broke last week leaving a hamster shaped hole at the top of the cage. I covered it with tape but my hamster escaped. I eventually found him and returned him to the cage. Covered the hole with more tape and a heavy ceramic bowl but he escaped again, only this time I can’t find him at all. This cage is not fit for purpose and I can’t recommend as suitable. I shall invest in a better cage for our remaining hamster and throw both cages away. In the meantime I am trying to console my 8 year old son who’s hamster it was and hopefully convince him that Peanut Butter Hamster hasn't been eaten by one of our 3 cats.
I bought this tank for my daughter's syrian hamster. It's been in it over a month now and its so easy to clean. I do like it. The only complaint is when I got it brand new and set it up some of the ramps wouldnt attach on both sides and resulted in them falling down easily which was no good for the hamster. I think it was due to not being moulded properly when it was made. I bought a second cage, replaced all the faulty ramps making sure they attached properly and returned the faulty cage. It all works lovely now. My daughter age 7 can open and close the cage and get the hamster out of its bed without any help.I would recommend this cage as long as your ramps fit okay as it is lovely to view your hamster in and easy to clean.
I brought this just under a month ago for my sons hamster, who before then had just a basic square cage he found very boring and would constantly bite the bars out of boredom. Since being in his new home he no longer bites the bars, he was nervous to use the house sectiom at the top until recently, i kept placing him in there after his cage had been cleaned to get him familiar with it. I think because its so high and he had so many levels to entertIn him he didnt pay much attention to the top. Instead he liked to sleep in the bottom corner. He doesnt like the water bottle provided, im not sure if its the positinng or the actual bottle but he wont use it, i still need to keep it in though to prevent escapes. So far he hasnt escaped from this cage but it is very easy ... MoreI brought this just under a month ago for my sons hamster, who before then had just a basic square cage he found very boring and would constantly bite the bars out of boredom. So far he hasnt escaped from this cage but it is very easy for little children to open enabling him to escape, i have taught my children he is safest in his cage and if he escapes he may chew something he shouldnt or get hurt so hopefully they will refrain from doing that. All in all its a very good cage. Very tricky to clean but so long as you do it regularly it shouldnt be too much of an issue.
The value of this cage is exceptional given that a high street petstore chain sells the same product for more than double this cost. Top marks to Wilko for competitive best pricing! In terms of the product, it is great for the price. It can be quite tricky to install/set up. You might find it easier to instal the internal platforms by turning the wire cage upside down and starting from the highest platform (the one that would be at the top of the cage in the upright position) and working down. The parts are plastic so take care to be gently when connecting the ladders to not snap the connections. The house at the top should be firmly pressed down until you hear the click - if you cant unclip it with one finger then its secured properly - if you can - then clip it ... MoreThe value of this cage is exceptional given that a high street petstore chain sells the same product for more than double this cost. The house at the top should be firmly pressed down until you hear the click - if you cant unclip it with one finger then its secured properly - if you can - then clip it down or risk an escaped pet. Also the ladder to the house doesnt clip in at all and seems loose (designed this way) but hasnt come out in the 3 weeks we've had the cage so seems fine although we had doubts when we saw how loose it was. Some hamsters may not like some of the steep ladders to certain platforms but you can adjust/reposition the platform accordingly. Also - the side opening clips in on the wire frame itself so it means you have to bend the wire frame to clip/unclip - i think that could have been designed a bit more intuatively but the purpose of it is to be secure and it certainly is. Some hamsters may also find the water bottle sits too low to the platform to be useable but our hamster seems fine with it.
Can be fiddly to assemble. I changed the levels around so the two smaller floors together make one larger floor, hung the supplied water bottle on outside of the cage on lower blue floor, fitted a bottle top (drench works well) into the hole at the top, and added a bigger Pets at home 8in wheel on the lower level. Taped bedroom lid shut and hamsters seem ok. They haven't escaped yet. Also intended to replace ramp with tunnel from smaller pico cage, but doesn't seem necessary. Hard to stack one cage top of one another unless you put four small cups in each corner. It's a bit small considering the minimum recommended size is 80cm by 50cm, but sufficient to house a Syrian if you really need something secure until you upgrade to a much bigger one. Not too fiddly to clean, a solid blast from the shower head will be sufficient to get in all the nooks and crannies. Can add a few toys and hides, but not too many. Remove the smaller wheel supplied unless you're housing Russian dwarves. It's too small to be any use to a Syrian and generally not recommended. There have been a few feature issues, but they can be resolved easily. Just replace the features you can't use with ones you can. The pets at home medium sized 8in wheel is a good fit for the cage. They come in clear, blue and pink. The hamsters are OK with those. Just don't get them if your Syrian hamsters are longhaired. Get one without the spindle if you can for them. Amazon does a few.
I bought this for my daughter'so Syrian hamster. It is quite spacious given that it has 5 levels to explore. He manages the ramps well, this was a bit of a concern to me at first as to whether he would be OK getting up and down them and whether there was a risk to him falling from a height. Fortunately this has not been an issue. The water bottle, food dish etc were all included which was great, we have added a couple of wooden toys to give him something to chew on. The cage seems very sturdy and secure with no risk of him escaping. It's a bit fiddly to put together but not too bad. You need to be careful clipping the plastic parts in place, I have seen other reviews saying they snap easily so I just took my time putting it together. Good value for money considering ... MoreI bought this for my daughter'so Syrian hamster. It is quite spacious given that it has 5 levels to explore. this is far to small for any hamster, in the UK the bare minimum for a hamsters cage is 620 square centimeters and America 450 square centimeters. The base you are providing for the hamster is far to small as hamsters like to burrow to the minimum of 6feet. The wheel is far to small for any hamster as that will bend their backs and give them injuries. Also the cage might "look big" to some but in reality the taller the cage means nothing to hamsters, all it provides for them is enrichment which some hamsters dong even use. As they're getting older they wont even use the top levels as their mobility slows down with their years also meaning they do have the possibility of becoming dehydrated as the bottle is on the top floor. If you do want your hamster to live its life to the fullest with the proper care, i suggest you do your research and pick a suitable cage which this is not.
