A year later and still going strong

We bought this harness for our 2 husky mixes about a year ago. We live in rural Alaska and our hikes can be in the woods with tangly bushes and blowdowns, on beaches with sands and rocks, involve rivers and streams or lots of rain. These harnesses have done great. And the handle is so useful! Because our puppers are a mix of very active breeds our average walk is 3 miles and we do that about 5 times a week. We have never had a problem and after a few times of slipping out of other brand harnesses when they were puppies, these were a relief to our worried minds. Because of our location we can't run to the store if something breaks. Everything has to be ordered and flown in so we don't try out new companies unless they come highly recommended. I love this harness. I haven't used it for the reason I bought it yet, (to be used on my dog while paddle boarding), but I have discovered it's amazing ability to thwart my dog's whale like antics to throw herself backward, going limp, and melt right out of the harness like a cooked noodle when she doesn't want to go or leave somewhere. My dog is a 55lb Golden Retriever / Border Collie, she's a big heavy noodle.I used to own the Rabitgo dog harness which was nice for her to wear while we biked, however within 3mo she learned how to pinch her shoulders together and melt out of the harness. She would also (mostly at the dog park) go stiff leg when we would leave and then rear up and throw herself backward ( like a whale jumping out of the ocean )so she was sprawled ... MoreI love this harness. Your only option was to literally drag her from the park. She is 4yrs old now and is an amazing whale flopper.. she can slip out of anything... until now. I can literally just hold her in the air by my side while she tries to wiggle and squirm out of the harness to no avail with this RuffWear harness. For that reason alone this harness is worth every penny to me, whether or not it works in the water. As far as fitting goes, I bought the large. Her neck is 19inches. Behind the front legs 31inches. In front of the back legs 25 inches. From base of neck to the start of the tail is 27 inches in length. It seems to fit her well. The components are well built the D ring is sturdy the buckles are heavy duty and it's well stitched. I think the only thing that could make this harness better would be having another D ring in the front. I know they have other harnesses with this feature, but multiple attachments is just handy when it comes to dogs.Overall, I would recommend this harness and I won't be going back to my previous harness.

I love that the harnesses have a handle for the moment when I want to hold my dog and collar use isn't appropriate, like quickly lifting them over something or stabilizing myself for a second when hiking. The bright orange color is wonderful. It allows me and others to spot the dogs quickly and easily. The dogs are so well camouflaged naturally with their brindle coloring, the bright orange harnesses are a great safety feature, not only so I can quickly glance and see where they are, but also so other people can also. Fully secure (so far!)

I have a dachshund mix who's an escape artist. Whatever the mix is, she's much larger than purebred dachshunds, but still very long - so we have a hard time finding harnesses that fit her. We had the front range harness previously and loved it, but she managed to back out of it. With this harness, the third strap prevents backing out (so far, at least!) and the fact that it's longer means a more secure fit for my weirdly shaped dog. :)The only things I don't love about it are that there isn't much padding in the chest area and there's no front leash attachment, which are both things I liked about the front range. It would also be nice to have some of the colors from the front range harness. It's definitely up to the quality standards I expect from ruffwear! Great harness for Houdini dogs!
4 January 2023

This harness has been great for keeping our pup safe from her own nefariousness. She figured out how to slip her front range harness and soon began slipping it or trying to slip it (so we'd have to be ultra vigilant) as often as she wanted to go off on her own adventure. We're in an urban area so that's of course not safe. This harness is comfortable for her, relatively easy to put on (you do have to pull the right leg through after slipping it over their head, but it's flexible), and I like that there are only 2 buckles to fasten instead of potentially 4. She absolutely cannot slip it and this is especially important when I'm walking my dogs together, in case I have to focus on my other dog/pick up poop/etc., I don't have to worry about her trying to slip her ... MoreThis harness has been great for keeping our pup safe from her own nefariousness. I'd give this 5 stars if this harness had 2 other details that were thought of:1: The attachment for the light is right behind the leash attachment which means the leash gets snagged on the light quite often. Not a deal breaker but not thought through. If the light attachment were closer to the dog's neck it'd be better.2: I'd have loved to see a pocket for ID tags like the Front Range harness has - my dogs' tags get stuck on plants all the time and I prefer not to have them on their collars. This doesn't have that little pocket so if we're at the dog park I have to make sure to carry her tags, while my dog who wears the Front Range just has his in the velcro pocket

I recently adopted a 3 legged Labrador. I had concerns on which harness product was best but after lots of research I was recommended Ruffwear webmaster.I mainly bought this as I wanted a harness that wouldn’t slip around whilst my dog walked (as not secured by both front legs) and also to help with stairs in our house - which she hasn’t needed, as she ran up and down them straight away!!She is missing her front right leg, so it’s an easy slip over the head and buckle up. If some one is reading this with a front LEFT leg missing, then you would need to lift their right leg into the harness which would make them unbalanced. Thumbs up for the sturdy, well-designed Web Master harness! It was easy to fit properly and our chosen color of day-glo orange looks great on my dog’s black and white coat. More importantly id vastly increases his visibility for hiking, biking and trail rides, particularly when riding our country roads. The pleasing contrast of the grey straps influenced our color choice. On a long bike ride yesterday, which happened to follow a 4 mile trail ride just the previous day, my 12-year-old border collie began to limp a bit. I checked first for harness rubbing but found none, then checked his paws too, but knew the limp was most likely due to a flare up of arthritis. I’d forgotten to bring along a leash, but by looping some baling twine I’d found along the road through the aluminum ring on the back of the harness—and thanks to its padded straps that don’t dig into his lipomas—I was able to comfortably support my dog’s weight a bit as we walked back home. Happily, half a Rimadyl and some rest had him feeling better in short order. I was sure glad however, to have coincidentally dressed him in his new, supportive Web Master harness. Concerning heat—I feel the bright orange color and light, insulative padding of this harness may provide some protection for my black dog from our high-altitude sun’s rays. There are also thoughtfully designed channels on the padded underside of the harness to provide air circulation and help with longitudinal flexibility so the harness will more readily mold around the dog’s body (it is a bit stiff at first, so am storing it with a rubber band around it till it’s broken in). I don’t plan to use this harness in hot weather however, and will opt instead for an older, lighter-weight, orange Ruffwear vest when our concern is visibility, or use a lighter-weight harness for leashed walks in town. When it’s cool out though, you can bet we’ll be sporting the Web Master look wherever it makes sense.

This harness bought me a hundred extra adventures with my old dog
30 May 2023

I bought this harness in April of 2020 because our aging Golden Retriever (then 12) had been diagnosed with neuropathy that was slowly weakening his back legs. He didn't need it quite yet at the time, but I wanted to get it early to acclimate him to it.Well, I got almost three bonus years of hikes with him, largely because of this harness. He lost some weight as he got older, and it was adjustable enough that the three-point support continued to allow me to get him in and out of the car, over obstacles, and toward the end, just straight on the trail instead of stumbling off to the side.Without a "suitcase" handle on him, I wouldn't have risked bringing him on some of those adventures in the last couple of years. But I did, because I knew I could help him over those logs when his rear legs got weak or down those hills when his sense of fun outpaced his coordination. One of my favorite memories of him is jogging downhill on a trail next to him, holding the handle so he wouldn't fall, and saying "you're so fast still, bud!"So thanks, from the bottom of my heart, for designing a product that gave us walk after walk and sunrise after sunrise together, literally two years after he started seriously getting weaker. I kept saying, "it's ok if this is the last one, buddy," and he kept saying, "at least one more."He died at fifteen years old, only a month or two after our last hike together. I credit at least some of that extra old age time to the fact that I could keep him adventuring with this harness as a safety net. So thank you, thank you, thank you.Brian & Comet

First off I’m a huge RuffWear fan. I used this harness for 14 years with my 60 lb border collie and it still looks new. I bought the easy on harness for our adopted pocket pittie, which is our daily walker. However we needed the harness to lift her in and out of the plane, and in and out of taxis and cars on a recent trip and my older harness is too large. It worked great. It’s secure, she’ll never get out of it, not too bulky and trustworthy. I felt confident lifting her and she looked great. I also used it to secure her to a seatbelt in the plan and in the car. Only advice I have is to measure carefully or try on in a store. All three harness I have are all size small but held next to each other vary a lot. That said, I find the design and size options fit most dogs (we’ve used them with a variety of fosters). This is my go-to brand for harnesses and backpacks and have a number of other products that are all great. Highly recommend. For sizing, Betty is 40 pounds, 19 inches tall, 23 inch girth with some possible growing ahead. She wears a small and has 3.5 inches to expand in each strap if needed
