I bought this iron for the temperature colour change feature among others. At first I loved it the look and the features but as I began to use it more I found it to be quite heavy. While I wanted an iron with a bit of weight to it and not too flimsy this one however is giving me a workout every time I use it. The worst feature of it however is the placement of the temperature control button. Located right on the handle where one holds the iron. Found I was accidentally changing the temperature quite often.

This iron feels much heavier than previous irons we have owned. It does not glide over fabrics as easily as others. The heat control is a button on the handle rather than a dial. This button is easily bumped in the process of ironing and the heat setting consequently changes. The only indicator of the heat setting is different coloured lights which is not intuitive. Made to look modern without any real thought to ergonomics and practical use. On the plus side, it has a longer power cord than other irons which makes use easier.

Coming from Braun Texstyle 5 Pro Steam Iron, I feel a bit downgrade to be honest. Braun did not last enough per brand expectation, but ironing was super smooth (great steam shots as well). The plate had a nice glide and never caught fabric when iron is pulled back in reverse. In contrast, this current iron, Russel hob’s, catches the surface of clothes and is sometimes annoying. Trick is to slightly lift the iron away from clothes when pulling backwards. It does have flashy indications, distinct colours representing different heat settings and sole reason to buy was a better steam/g output as compared to other brands currently available. Price was also in the mid mark after discount. Little heavier than Braun as well.
Stylish iron but for me has some faults. It's heavier than other irons we've purchased so don't find that helpful. The temperature control button has been placed poorly as it is constantly knocked as it's in an awkward place on the handle where you need to hold it. Impractical to have it where it is. I have fairly small hands and it doesn't allow enough room away from the button. It's noisy, gurgles loudly when stood up while you reposition what you're ironing.Have purchased Russell Hobbs irons for many years but this one dissappoints.Despite these glitches it irons very well but is not so user friendly so wouldn't purchase this model and am considering returning it.
I loved it, I even learnt something new with the self clean mode. I actually read the instruction manual and discovered my previous iron has a self clean button- which I had been using as a steam burst- on White School Shirts. I was very impressed with the look of the iron- it feels stylish, simple but elegant. The blue colour of the iron against the rose gold tones really sets it off. I like that the iron has the colored lights that represent the level of heat being released. I can definitely tell the kids (5&8yrs) if iron has pretty lights glowing- Iron is HOT, as well as the fact I can just have a quick glance down, see the lit up colour and know instantly what approximate temperature the oven is up to.
I'm really not enjoying my new iron. I bought it based on the reviews, however it's not suitable for my needs. Firstly, I knew it was large, my previous iron was - so I didn't want a small one. But it's even bigger than I thought. And it's too heavy for me (40 yrs) to do much ironing in a row. It's almost like the iron is trying to be too electronic - both my husband and I were confused with the temperature gauge ( I realise I'm making us sound like grandparents in this review!). I just want to turn it up and down, not work out what colour the appropriate temp is and then press the button to get to that colour. I don't know if it's because it's new, but it's also quite sticky on my clothing. Looks good has lots of features BUT... As soon as I lifted it I noticed how heavy it was. Sure enough after a bit of ironing I found my hand, wrist and forearm hurting. So I have gone back to a much lighter model and have put the new iron away while my hand and arm heals. I will keep it in the cupboard and maybe give it to someone but cant help but think that it will end up going in the rubbish because I dont want to give anyone else the problem. Very disappointed as I bought it because it had the coloured lights to indicate temp. which I find very helpful. I have learnt a valuable lesson about buying things online without having a look at them!!!

The temperature control system is quite unique to me but makes a lot of sense once you start using it as is obviously designed to prevent burning through certain fabrics etc. I've given 4 stars as I've simply not used it more than a few times so can't be overly critical (positively or negatively) but so far, it's been actually a delight to use. I tried it on denim and it pretty much ironed through both legs and with minimal effort, used it on cotton and other materials and all so easy to iron. Changing the temperature settings is also so easy and one handed unlike those dials that you have to put the iron down hold it and then change. This iron you can easily change the temperature between garments and it only takes a couple is seconds for it to reach required temp. I didn’t even need to use the steam function as it worked amazingly without it. It’s so easy to manoeuvre and glides over the clothes. I’ve never loved to iron but this will make it so much more pleasurable and save soooo much time.
