I needed to plane some wooden screen doors for a screen house we built back in the woods. We didn't use a generator. Everything was done with Ryobi 18v power tools and an assortment of batteries. Some of these tools are original Ryobi 18v tools and still work great after hard use and many years. The planner was a nice addition and made quick work of the doors. A great addition to my Ryobi collection.

Awesome cordless planer!

This has been an awesome addition to my tool roster! I bought it primarily for trimming down doors.. It is easy to use, has good power and the quick depth adjustment knob is very handy. It's also nice to choose which side is going to do the dust collecting, it makes life easier if you need to stand on one side or the other while planing without getting covered in saw dust.

Favorite power tool

I am building a small boat without plans. This plainer really takes the work out of truing up edges that have been cut with a Saber saw. I also use it to chamfer edges. It is so easy to change the depth of cut by just turning the labeled knob. Love this power tool!

Great Value

I had 11 doors to change in my home , and needed a electric planer. I have about 12 different Ryobi One tools now and the planer was an excellent addition. Great value and as long as you only use it for DIY should last me yearsDid the task perfectly

Great cordless electric planer as a DIYer

I use this puppy all the time for flattening and jointing boards. Helps to make a jig too. Planning to attach it to my workbench as a table jointer. Picked up in-store and no problems. Also showed up 2 days sooner than expected, bonus.

Great product

Great product. It’s easy to use and does a nice job. I used it to level deck joists prior to installing composite board decking. It made the job so much easier than it would have been otherwise. It seems to be made solidly and is not too heavy.

Handy

As a finish carpenter, Im all about acquiring tools. I have every ryobi 18v tool. This planer is a time saver! It has grunt it plows through material. For the money, I am happy with it!

I wish I had bought this years ago

I had a specific project that needed a planer, so I naturally checked Home Depot to see if Ryobi offered one. I have never used a planer before, so I was a bit concerned I might make a mess of the wood I was planing. But everything worked perfectly and I reduced the size just the right amount and left a silky smooth surface to boot. There have been many projects in the past that should have had the benefit of this amazing tool.

Not what I expected.

I bought this on April 22. spent 3 weeks waiting for it to ship, after that I decided I'm going to try to use this now. But first I run a small independent furniture making business. All my other tools are Ryobi because of the fact everything is pretty much cordless, which I love. But this cordless planer is just horrible. I used one fully charged 4.0 AMP battery and it lasted maybe 5 minutes? Also the chafe what came from it looked like I was using a belt sander.. Only reason why I gave this a 2 star rating is because if you need this once in a blue moon to plane the bevel on a door, yes it will be good for that. other then those quick 1 minute projects this tool is useless.

Ryobi Cordless Planer

So far it works pretty good. Getting used to the right amount of pressure on front/back when starting and finishing your push takes some practice to avoid grooving your board, definitely practice on scrap for a while.The only downside so far is the dust bag gets filled incredible quick. When attached to my shop vac the hose impedes smooth pushing--but I attribute this to the stiffness of the hose. A bigger bag would probably get in the way. Not sure what the solution is--maybe it's just me buying a less rigid hose!Depending on how much you need to plane keep a spare battery handy--it eats up the battery pretty quick.
