I would have awarded 5* over all but for the fact that the bin is tricky to relocate. Suprisingly powerful suction and light enough for comfort even on staircases. Not so good at picking up debris from ceramic floor. Probably designed for laminate/wooden surfaces. Battery life is more than adequate for my five bedroomed house. I liked the free standing facility. I found it odd that the accessories site did not list replacement filters. But they look to be generic. I found the free standing facility useful. Recommended.

So I bought this instead of a Shark that the wife wanted and I believe it was a good idea still. However I do have some issues, it's very heavy, especially for my wife that has psoriatic arthritis in her joints especially in her hands. She's OK with it but I still find her using the old Gtech Air Ram a lot of the time. For me in my computer room it's a dream, the long pipe and attachments mean I can get into all the places I couldn't before but I would have loved to have a flexible hose attachment for it so I can get down the sides of the couches and recliner. The battery is one of the best things about this as long as you use the big Lithium one but that then adds to the weight which makes it worse for my wife. So it's definitely not quiet but for some reason the dog doesn't seem bothered as much about it as the old fairly quiet Gtech. Very strange. On a whole I'm happy with it but there needs to be a lot of improvement if I was to but one again in the future. 3.5 out of 5 from me and the wife.

I would rather lick my floors clean than spend my hard earned money on such a useless piece of equipment again. I have previously had a Bosch and Phillips stick vac and both were great but struggled to sustain enough battery to do my whole house. I purchased the Ryobi one as I loved the changeable battery idea. It sucks hair & dog hair fine... but if you want to see anything else get cleaned up... buy a different unit. It takes great delight in picking up everything larger than 2ml and spitting it directly behind you leaving a wake of rubbish confetti. I just love looking up my hallway and seeing what looks like the ants version of a festival clean up. This is the single most useless piece of equipment I own.

Where to start ?The 1st one I took home had been previously used and had a dusty filter and a clogged head.... probably a sign from the stars to take it back and forget about it. But as I bought 2 extra batteries, I was embarrassed to return it. Well, form the 1st time at Bunnings I had to prove my point to a manager to get a replacement [by the way on the day after I had bought it]. Well, with a regular household use, the cord on the charger started breaking, betting the wires exposed, the 2 wheels on the head broke and got lost under the piano, or a heavy buffet, the filter was so awkwardly placed, that cleaning it was a total mess, and I am sure that a lot of dust was passing to the motor as there was always dust past the filter. The suction for anything larger than a small rock was so poor, that anything larger than a rice grain would spin around and around the head until it got spilled off eventually. I took me twice the time to vac the room compared to my cheap Aldi one. I finally had it....and after trying to convince 2 managers at Bunnings, I got a refund, as I said: this is a faulty product, I'm entitled to the 3 Rs; re-select, replace or refund. I wasn't leaving the store unsatisfied. BTW; reason for return; it didn't meet customer's satisfaction" . I'm not pick but I am not crazy to throw almost $600 away.RUN AWAY FAST FROM THIS PRODUTC.
I've purchased this vacuum once and am having replaced under warranty for a third time for the same reason. The brush motor head keeps burning out, rendering it useless.Overall:The vacuum has subpar suction if the brush is in place but not spinning.Removing the brush allows for much better suction on hard surfaces (which is great when the motor is dead)The dustbin is always clogged which means reduced suction and more frequent emptying. The unit is generally heavy to lug around. The attachments are loose fitting and fall out if you look at them wrong.Runtime varies between 20-40 minutes (with brush vs without)The warranty replacement is fantastic.I can't in good conscience recommend this product to anyone.
I own 10 Ryobi products and most of them perform well. This vacuum however is full of problems. I did return it and I'm buying something else.1. When the vacuum is switched off, you'll be left with a spoonful of bits that falls back out if the motorhead. This is the worst problem!2. Just moving the vacuum around the floor is jerky and hard to control versus other vacuums.3. The vacuum is heavy and the weight is not balanced so it's tiresome to use. You almost have to hold it on an angle which puts all the weight on your wrist.4. The battery charger is not like other Ryobi products. The charger is a wall mounted station that is gigantic and ugly.5. The hinge on the canister is a tiny, cheap little plastic tab that is guaranteed going to break.6. As a typically satisfied Ryobi user, I'm shocked at how awful this vacuum was designed and built.I would NOT recommend this vacuum at all! It really is a poor design from top to bottom.
I bought this vac based on fairly good reviews from Choice but I'm disappointed. I was looking for a new vac after having some issues with Dyson and wanted a longer battery and cheaper option. I'm frustrated as I threw the box out after one or two test runs but wish I could return it.Good points:+ Good on carpet+ Battery life is better than competitors+ Ability to have additional batteries and use with entire Ryobi range+ Seems heavier duty than others+ Cheaper than other competitorsBad points:- Top heavy, which makes it tiring to hold and after about 10 minutes and I find myself switching hands and getting frustrated. Not a good choice for larger areas, or someone older or with any sort of arm issues or injuries as I have none and still get tired.- It misses things. It tends to push larger particles around instead of catching them and I've noticed when moving backwards, it misses things. So essentially you always have to vacuum moving forwards which is annoying. I've noticed a similar issue with Dyson but more pronounced on this vac.- Poor performance getting to crevices and corners. The head is flexible but it's hard to manoeuvre and bulky.- No hard floor option compared to other competitors. Usually hard floor heads are much lighter and less bulky so the option to swap the head would be a significant improvement.- Loud to runOverall, my house doesn't stay clean using this vac as I'm unable to catch things in the corners and edges, so not for me. My home is mostly hard floors, so if Ryobi came out with a lightweight hard floor attachment it could make it worthwhile.
I was really hoping this stick vac would be at least "ok" for use in an apartment with a mix of hard tiles and laminated flooring, carpets and a shag rug. Alas, no; it just doesn't pick up dust and small particles well at all on the hard surfaces, fares better on the carpet but fails miserably on the shag rug. It's certainly not for want of trying - this thing makes a racket like it's about to take off, and the spinning "power head" looks like it should grab anything you pass it over. But the reality is it doesn't work well at all on hard flooring, leaving dust behind even after multiple passes. On the shag rug the power head usually jams up unless you pull it backwards only at juuust the right angle to avoid it grabbing the pile. Its only small success is on short-pile carpet where it does a passable job.I found the design to be fine - the accessories all seemed fit for purpose, the dust canister easy to remove, empty and clean, the head fairly easy to manoeuvre and it's not too heavy considering what needs to be in the body. All for nought, as it just doesn't suck.
I discovered mine at Bunnings and was stoked, we just started the Ryobi one collection with a drill, charger and 2 batteries, smaller one and a bigger one.The small battery fully charged is enough to go front to back of 3 bedroom home tiled floor, plus bedroom carpets.Lower the suction by push of button thats under power button for tiles, the head reacts fast to turning and can be kind of a mad dog but in a good way, I no longer have to fight to pull backwards out of an awkward corner etc.Spinning brush head complete with blades (in there somewhere not sure if on brush, need to check that before i detangle my hair from it,) BUT the box says the brush is easy to remove, which i will regularly, this will prolong the life of the whole setup, but i WILL be aware ... MoreI discovered mine at Bunnings and was stoked, we just started the Ryobi one collection with a drill, charger and 2 batteries, smaller one and a bigger one.The small battery fully charged is enough to go front to back of 3 bedroom home tiled floor, plus bedroom carpets.Lower the suction by push of button thats under power button for tiles, the head reacts fast to turning and can be kind of a mad dog but in a good way, I no longer have to fight to pull backwards out of an awkward corner etc.Spinning brush head complete with blades (in there somewhere not sure if on brush, need to check that before i detangle my hair from it,) BUT the box says the brush is easy to remove, which i will regularly, this will prolong the life of the whole setup, but i WILL be aware i'll come across the blades, or maybe they retract for safety, anyway the suction is strong (on that higher push button setting i mentioned earlier) and I've had clumps of grass, random things that can usually get stuck just blast past the blades and you can hear the impact and cutting from the blades, so most of it makes it to the dirt chamber (so soooo easy to remove, lightweight as, easy drop down release into bin, click back in and go again). The heavier the battery the more top heavy this is to push so can be a bit straining on your arm muscles if you've relied on your entire being, back, gut and leg strength into pushing older corded bagless vacs around.Standing up straight and gliding it along as it does, relieves my posture and my arm muscles will get stronger...kinda need that anyway.I'm allergic to dust, on high setting (so noticeably dusty edges you'll know you'll need that boost on that day for), it pulls dust in from sides as you go along the wall, suctions against my kickboards so much i can feel a slight extra pull is needed but in the smoothest way, it's just something that doesn't usually happen, so i love knowing the dust can't tuck itself away in the corners waiting to mess the floor up when mopped. Also I don't have to lean forward with my face above where the air blows out on all the others.Crouching down you can flatten it horizontally to the ground and with a handy and bright as led light bar, get under the couch (depending on height), coffee table, tv units etc easy as.Unclick the vac from the long rod and pop in brush attachment or crevice tool, and thats blinds, tracks, fly screens, cobwebs, above doordust, almost anything i can think of, whole car cleanout.Worth paying extra hundred for the one that comes with battery and charger, if you haven't already started with that ryobi range.I just love pushing around essentially a fast efficient powerful vac that makes me feel like im using power tools rather than vaccum a house.
Being part of the Ryobi One+ eco system, I decided to purchase this vacuum, even after I read the negative reviews.Don't be like me, avoid this product, I would have been better off to purchase a stand alone unit that this piece of garbage.Where to start with the issues, there are too many to list, but I have included two of the most frustrating ones.Firstly - the fracture you see (in the photo) is from normal use, the motor component of the unit is so heavy that if you apply any pressure during normal operation, its simply will fault and require special attention to be able to continue.Secondly - the pod that holds the dust and debris is shockingly designed.
