Bought this after having a cheap Ozito plug in blower vac serve me well for years. Figured as this was twice as much and a known brand it would be great. It’s not. Extremely loud, heavy and so big that it’s difficult to use. After a few months of use the blow function is almost useless while the vacuum mode works for small leaves but gets stopped by anything resembling a stick.Complete crap.

Many use these for the vacuum with leaves. I had an ozito and this fixes everything wrong with the ozito. No need for a “milk bottle” hack. Bag is much more sturdy. Doesn’t block at the bag discharge as often - didn’t for me at all where the ozito did. The nozzle comes off easily for quick clearing if you suck up something you shouldn’t. Suction is good compared to ozito - easily picks up small sticks in with leaves where the other wouldn’t. It won’t pick up many rocks etc which is actually a plus with a plastic turbine/fan. The ozito were all plastic as well when I saw them. The mulching is much better so fewer trips to empty the bag.

Having a vac and a blower in one device sounds great on paper but this device is not it. After several uses in vac mode mulch and grass clogged a plastic shutter that switches modes (by directing airflow) and the shutter stopped closing all the way so that blower and vac now work both at half power at the same time rendering both modes useless! What happens after is that the grass gradually clogs blower outlet which has a plastic griddle inside and blower stops working altogether. And since there's no way to easily disassemble and clean it, maintenance becomes a very big chore. This is a very poor design all around.

Bought for my wife to make courtyard cleanup easier than a dustpan and broom. Have a number of Ryobi tools, but unfortunately my performance expectations were not met. Sucks up small leaves, but struggles with bigger eucalyptus leaves and does not handle twigs at all. The "L" shaped spout from the tool to the bag gets easily clogged, which appears to be a design flaw. May be satisfactory for small jobs, like a verandah, and small size leaves, but would not recommend where there is frequent leaf litter from Australian natives.
I have owned mine for a year now & if I knew now back when I brought I would have brought something else.Blower function is good usually. But not if you have a stack of leave with bits of branches on. Ie after hedge trimming.Vacuum/shredding function as I was told when I brought it. Again good if it’s strictly leaves, no twiggy bits, otherwise it blocks up, and the blade goes blunt. I end up having to hold up vertically while keeping the function going to get it to suck it up, or having to stop it and use my arm to pull it out to start again.Weight, while not super heavy. Being that both attachments are usually used, it can get super heavy for a female especially.I brought this to help when I trim my hedge. As I say the plastic rotary shredder mechanism is now blunt and not replaceable.Maybe I was let astray by the sales person, who told me it would shred the hedge trimmings. But after a year, it’s blunt and I spend more time emptying the shoot manually than I do actually vacuuming stuff up.
This is a nice powerful blower/vac at a reasonable price. It was easy to assemble and appears to be of durable build quality. I bought this to replace a 10 year old Ryobi blower/vac that had a broken impeller. After using it a few times I found that there are a couple of downsides that could be improved upon. 1. The mouth of the vacuum is slightly too small and struggles with large leaves like Magnolia. 2. The inside surface of the vacuum tube is not completely smooth, so when vacuuming damp leaves, a buildup of debris occurs at any of the projections within the tube, which eventually results in a blockage requiring the tube to be removed for cleaning. 3. The support wheels at the front of the tube are too small or set too far back, there is a tendency for the ... MoreThis is a nice powerful blower/vac at a reasonable price. The support wheels at the front of the tube are too small or set too far back, there is a tendency for the fabric bag to drag on the ground unnecessarily. 4. The fabric bag soaks up and retains moisture far too easily resulting in the the damp leaf grinds sticking to the inside of the bag which is difficult to remove. Hydrophobic fabric should have been utilised. My old Ryobi blower/vac had none of these problems and just a few minor changes to the design would fix all these problems.
I gave this product one star, only because I couldn't give it any less.I purchased one of these to replace an older, cheaper one which had served me well for many years. My reasons for making this choice were for convenience, efficiency, the dual purpose feature, and ease of use.Sadly it had none of these virtues.I found it heavy, cumbersome, very noisy, clumsy, feeble and more. Using this device turned a simple half hour job into a curse-filled 90 minute debacle. I found that to get maximum efficiency out of it was to pre rake the leaves into piles, then scoop them into a wheelbarrow and dispose, then, finish off with the blower, thus rather defeating the object....To get maximum blowing action, I've had to dismantle the suction tube which enables me to get ... MoreI gave this product one star, only because I couldn't give it any less.I purchased one of these to replace an older, cheaper one which had served me well for many years. I found that to get maximum efficiency out of it was to pre rake the leaves into piles, then scoop them into a wheelbarrow and dispose, then, finish off with the blower, thus rather defeating the object....To get maximum blowing action, I've had to dismantle the suction tube which enables me to get the blowing tube closer to the ground, however, to achieve this, I must bend over double, and I'm not that tall. In addition to removing the suction tube, I've also taken off the collection bag, which conveniently is around the same level as my thighs and easy to get entangled with.Since purchasing the blower, It's been dismantled and reboxed. I can't return it to the shop as it's used, and strictly speaking not faulty, so it's going on the verge for someone to collect. I hope they have more fun than I did.In conclusion: Avoid. Save your money, purchase something that serves it's purpose, even if it means paying more for a quality product. Finally, as a blower it sucked, and as a sucker it blew.
I purchased the Blower Vac in November 2018 from Bunnings. The first bag fell apart at the seam the first time I used it. Took back to Bunnings and received a replacement bag. This bag lasted 2 sessions and came undone at the zip. Took back to Bunnings and received a replacement bag. Third bag lasted about 2 sessions and came undone at the zip. The bag always spits out leaves and dust as you turn off which defeats the purpose of a vacuum process. I have an older Ryobi Ultra Light Plus Garden Blower Vac RESV-1202A which works great except the wheels have worn away and can not be wheeled anymore. Therefore reason to purchase this current RYOBI. The bag on current blower vac has an inferior bag quality in respect to sowing on seams and zip as compared to older blower vac.
This product is real junk. It is just not powerful enough as a blower or a vacuum. Even small pieces of leaves or yellow grass it has trouble sucking in or blowing away. It is very heavy. Just want to smash it with a hammer.
I bought one of these 6 months ago, and o don't know what it actually does.Anything sucked up gets mildly mulched, but then stays in the tube, without getting to the bag. Therefore, the suction tube continually clogs with leaves (dried gum leaves) and needs to be emptied - by holding it over a garden bed,Very disappointed in this product and it's design, so will never by Ryobi again.
