Great if you own other Ryobi tools. I'm a professional landscaper, and cutting back on petrol fumes and the constant crank-starting of petrol powered ones are big advantages. A bit on the heavy side, I'm a pretty big bloke and can bench 70 at the gym, but this one gets the arms sore after a few hours. Would be good if Ryobi made these in different colours like red or a darker green to suit my truck, which is blue. Highly recommended.

I took a little time to do my homework, reading and reviewing the different types of battery powered trimmers on the market and for price, power and reliability. I’ve wasted money in the past on cheap rubbish! The Ryobi 36v trimmer ticked all the boxes. I use it for my lilly-pilly hedge and it does in no time at all with a good cut. The extra battery power makes the difference - effortless cutting!

Bought this as the electric trimmer was tiresome to operate. Smashed the electric trimmer out of the park. Light, cuts really well and a pleasure to use. Battery has good range
I have a large hedge line of approx 30m. This product had all the power I needed and cut through the hedge on all sides easily.I bought just the skin as I have a 2.0Ah battery already and it was more than enough to get the job down with plenty of power to spare.I have a stable of the Ryobi 36v range and cannot recommend it highly enough.
I bought this trimmer mid-march and for the first few months it worked as it should, wasn't the best but did the job, the sweeper attachment kept falling off so I never used it, the black plastic under the safety trigger was flimsy and fell off a few times. But what was annoying was the fact that as a gardener, having a trimmer that chews is impossible to use on any twig thicker than 2mm. Some species of hedges i can barely touch without it suddenly trying to snaw at it. My recommendation is to never use this professionally, domestic, sure. But if your someone with a lot of hedges, get a petrol trimmer.
After listening to my constipated neighbours whinging about my wife's crooked, curvey, arty smarty and accidental topiary hedge trimming with hedge clippers and secateurs...I decided it was time for a change. So my wife bought me this hedge trimmer. Hedge is cut to perfection 90 degree angles and straight lines!!! Neighbour are HAPPY. My wife is now fearful I may become more like my neighbours...and even offer to do some trimming for them.
This Ryobi hedge trimmer is an excellent product. It has enough grunt to cut cleanly through my hedge and the 36V 5Ah battery runs it for a long time. The angle adjustment is a very handy addition. The only draw back is that the big battery makes the trimmer a little on the heavy side and the battery is expensive.
Very impressed with this Trimmer . I'm a 58 year old lady , and this Trimmer does a professional job , and is so easy to use . It also has plenty of power to get the job done . Also love that you can change your cutting angles , something that you don't get on some other cheaper models . I'm so happy that I decided to buy this model , it may cost a little more , but it was worth it . I would definitely recommend this one .
I have most of the 36V Ryobi garden tools range but my existing hedge trimmer is the pole hedge trimer type that is an attachment to the powerhead that otherwise has my line trimmer connected semi permanently. That pole hedge trimmer is excellent for the high stuff but, being articulated (ie it bends to angles that can trim the flat top of hedges), it can be a bit heavy for regular trimming and also every time that I want to use it, I have to go through the process of unscrewing the line trimmer attachment and connecting the hedge trimmer attachment. Viz, it is very safe to use. That also means that the maximum height that you can reach is what you can reach whilst holding on to the machine with both hands. Therefore for really high hedges, such as I have, you either have to climb a ladder, or better and safer still, also have the pole trimmer just for the big stuff. I suspect that for most gardens, though, this will not be an issue.Battery life is a non issue. I trimmed a lot of hedges that were well overdue for a trim with the machine with barely any drain on the battery.As usual, the Ryobi warranty @ six years when registered online is very good.
