Purchased this to add to my growing ONE+ collection as currently using a Ryobi petrol trimmer. We don't have a lot of hedge trimming, just some smaller garden centre pieces and other medium shrubs we like to keep in shape. Whilst the petrol trimmer has been great I'm just developing an ever-increasing regard for the battery-powered tools. In particular the brushless models seem to perform better, with the added benefit of not wearing brushes, but of course at a relative price premium. The other benefit for me is the weight difference: the battery model is considerably lighter, meaning I can be far more dexterous in adjusting the angle of cut to get neater results. It is also less taxing on the arms, shoulders and back. Another benefit of the battery model over the petrol is that I don't have to continually regulate the motor (cutting) speed with a throttle: the electric version is either on or off. Haven't had it long enough to really comment on reliability, but the 6-year warranty gives pretty good peace of mind. All-up I would recommend this product.

Good all round. As advertised, light, powerful, cuts branches a little bit thicker than competing models, but without the inconvenient cord.Cuts through almost everything in one long smooth pass (like a light saber) which makes it easy to cut a flat surface with neat edges, curves or corners. If you want curves goïng in or detailed sculptures (I don't) you might want something smaller.Even though it is a little longer than most, you would still need a trimmer on a pole for higher up (don't use a trimmer on a ladder, ever).Priced a little higher than some other Ryobi models, but the smooth cutting motion you get with the brushless version is well worth it.

The Trimmer is as functional as id expect from Ryobi, I have several brushless 18volt products and up until now they have been a huge leap in performance over the regular product they have replaced. I haven't owned a normal hedge trimmer but this brushless trimmer doesn't feel like a powerhouse as the chainsaw or line trimmer does. That said it does everything id expected it to do and doesn't empty a battery as quickly as my other brushless gear.

I bought this hedge trimmer to complement the telescopic hedge trimmer I already own as it was getting awkward to use that on the lower bits of hedge. This Hedge trimmer is powerful and efficient, cutting the hedges like butter and giving a clean finish. Battery lasts a lot longer than expected with a 5 ah only using half its capacity. Easy to handle and operate.
This tool is quite amazing. We bought it to replace a corded Ryobi trimmer. It is lighter, more powerful and has a much wider cut. We especially picked it because it doesn't have a rotating handle - we feel they have been the source of trouble in previous hedgers that we owned. And it is so light, it's not hard to use sideways.
Bought this today, so you know as you do ripped it open to give it a try. Immediately noticed what I would call a "soft start", was kind of expecting it to just jump in to full life I assume this is how they are designed though. My old trimmer is full on soon as press button and can line it up with a specific (large) branch touch the button and it will clip it off-not this one 😢. At full speed it seemed pretty powerful and cut what ever I tried it on with relitive ease (only spindly plants). I may have to adjust my technique a bit. Aside from the initial dissapointment it seems sturdy will just have to see how it goes
What a super piece of equipment, so easy to use and with exceptional cutting power, to rip through the larger branches. For many years I have battled with corded hedgers and although there was the convenience of continuous power, the cord was forever getting tangled. With this new cordless it’s the best of both worlds plenty of power, thanks to the great batteries these days and no tangled cord to trip over. The additional benefit of the hedge sweep function takes away that hassle of having to stop and clear away what you have just cut. I am so impressed with this unit, I can’t wait for the hedges to grow back, so I can have the fun of using this tool to buzz away again and let my creative side loose to make some new designs in the hedges.
Overall a great tool I'd recommend to anyone needing to maintain several plants that need regular clipping. For me it's powerful enough to get through everything I expected it to cut & the long sweep arm makes it much easier to square up larger trees/bushes. I generally don't like gardening so anything that makes a regular job easier i'm pleased with and therefore can recommend this tool. The couple of down sides are that it's noisy, you'll want hearing protection when using it.On extended use you'll feel the strain in your arms as a decent weight at 2.5 kg without the battery.I've found that sometimes you have to release both the safety bar and the trigger and try starting it again, for some reason it occasionally won't start with both clicked on.
Really happy with this product. It cuts my hedges with ease in one swipe. Most of the time i wont need to go back and do it again, except if the branch is really thick. Love the sweeping arm attachment as well. It made the cleanup much easier after. For tree-type shrubs, you will need a smaller one though as this is quite heavy for detailed shaping. It is quite pricey as it is a brushless device, but i got it on sale.
I used a friend’s Ryobi brushcutter and was so impressed I decided to buy this heavier, longer one.I have an 18V Ryobi line trimmer, and have had an 18V Ryobi drill for years. (A gift from my husband). I’ve worked that little drill to death and it is still going strong. And, of course, the trimmer is excellent too. I vent confident in my purchase. My yard has large camellias on three sides, and this model brushcutter has NO trouble getting those monsters under control. The best part is that the blades cut cleanly and neatly; no gnawed-looking ends.My only regret is not buying it sooner. It’s brilliant! And it was a wise choice to choose this heavier-duty model which cuts thicker branches.I’m a fan of the brand because these tools, especially this brushcutter, are ... MoreI used a friend’s Ryobi brushcutter and was so impressed I decided to buy this heavier, longer one.I have an 18V Ryobi line trimmer, and have had an 18V Ryobi drill for years.
