Just used it on my first run today and it over performed then what I expected of it. Its a hell of a lot lighter, not as noisy and smaller then the petrol ones. It dosnt fell like your using a battery powered scarifier either. It's quite strange Bunnings don't stock this regularly as it's only available via special order. I have no complaints whatsoever about this other then you need to wait to get it.

I've wanted one of these gems after reading the reviews here.We went into Bunnings in July this special order one as I heard they were hard to get. But as there were 5 on the shelves my partner bought me one.We had our lawn professionally dethatched last year so rather than spend the $450 to get it done again I thought I'd do it myself. I couldn't believe the amount of thatch this thing effortlessly pulled up. I did one pass on the highest setting, lowered it one level then did another pass. By then the 2 x 5ah batteries were drained so I recharged and went again, mowed it a few times with the electric victa and looks as good as a professional job. Filled up about 3 big wheelie bins of thatch. There are some points of advice. 1 - if you plan on using it ever ... MoreI've wanted one of these gems after reading the reviews here.We went into Bunnings in July this special order one as I heard they were hard to get. In that case lift the front wheels off the ground and ease it back down.Overall, very happy with this little beast.

Bought it yesterday and it’s rubbish. I have about 90 sq.m and my pair of 5Ah batteries barely gets through 10 sq.m of my yard. By the time I buy enough batteries to get the job done I’ll be out of pocket more than the cost of a decent petrol scarifier/de-thatcher! First Ryobi One+ that I’d like to return!

Fantastic little machine!
2 September 2022

I’ve been looking to get one of these for the past 12 months and finally my local Bunnings ordered a whole bunch of them so I had to grab 1 and wasn’t disappointed! I used 2 4.0ah batteries which I already had and seemed to work fine but I’d probably recommend using 2 6.0ah batteries but still a great product non the less and you’ll be amazed at how much grass comes off your lawn!

Goes hard!!
19 March 2022

I bought this to dethatch 200m2 of long wintergreen couch to prepare it for cylinder mowing. I did not have high expectations at all as I have never had ryobi tools and had always heard they were not the best quality but I was really impressed by how well this tool performs. I bought 2 x 6 AH batteries and did several passes over the lawn in different directions for about 35 minutes. The batteries still had about half charge left. The machine took 3 bin full of thatch out of the lawn without choking up even once. It actually performed better than my Honda mower. I would recommend this to any grass enthusiast who wants to dethatch a few times a year. It may not be trade quality but for a home owner with a few hundred square meters of grass it is a really awesome tool.

Great product

The scarifier offers great performace for domestic applications. It is surprisingly powerful. Even on 5amp batteries, it offers significant run time. It removes loads of thatch build up and shoots in straight into the catcher. Very impressive for the diy market

Impressed

Reluctant as to how well it would do the job when I assembled after I picked it up today. it today, could not have been more impressed on my front lawn with the amount of moss and dry grass it removed. Agree with other comments about the catcher, as useful as an ash tray on a motor cycle, does the job but fill too quickly, due to the efficiency of the machine. Photo is of 1/3 of the Grass it lifted from my small front lawn.

Overall a good unit
16 January 2023

I'm glad I read the other reviews before buying this tool. When I found the catcher filling too rapidly and ever too frequently I followed the other reviewers and left the catcher off. Raking up the material was a far better way to go. The blades are not sharp and buffalo grass strands tend to wind themselves around the blade mechanism and stop the machine working efficiently and sometimes stop it completely. This is also easy fixed by regularly checking the blades and unwiding any such buffalo grass strands. Don't let any of this put you off the machine as they really are only minor problems and are far outweighed by the outstanding job the unit does.

Ryobi scarifier

Brilliant machine and did a great job. After watching many reviews online, this made scarifying my lawns easy. The 50l catcher is too small and is really not worth using. The machine however is superb.

The Great Thatch Remover
27 March 2022

After 10 years I finally got around to doing my front lawn. Was scary at first as I had nice green grass, but way too much thatch, but by the end we had 3 x 240litre bins full as well as the trailer half full. Highly recommend getting 2 of the 6ah batteries. We did about 6 passes as it was so thick with thatch and the batteries lasted that whole time. It's been just over a week and the grass is already shooting back and about 3 inches of thickness gone. One recommendation is don't use the catcher as it is not big enough. Just do one pass then rake it into piles to put into bins. Alot quicker that way.I also only used the shortest setting with multiple passes.Did half of the backyard a few days later to see how that goes. Last pic shows just how much material ... MoreAfter 10 years I finally got around to doing my front lawn.
