Really useful tool, with design and quality up to the usual high Ryobi standard. But it's very top-heavy and unbalanced. You need to be strong to use it. The issue isn't just the weight, but also that it's supposed to be used at an angle, not vertically - holding it with most of the weight at the top of a 3m pole is really not easy, even when used with a harness. It would be fine in the hands of a young, fit, strong person, but none of those adjectives applies to me, so I had to return it, sadly.

Although the product remains in the packaging, for now, the price and quality of Ryobi tools and the service is outstanding. The discounted price of this tool was the main attraction but this was always guided by being fiercely loyal to Ryobi for cordless tools of high quality. I have now accumulated a wide variety of hand tools that are in constant use. Thanks Ryobi. Bud.

I am a 70Kg, 80 year old man and so found it a bit heavy to use it at arm's reach with the extension. But with the strap it works OK for me. Arrived well set up and lubricated plus a small top up bottle of chain oil. Blade was sharp and cuts well. Cutting head was small enough to get into tight places but also coped well with a couple of 3" limbs. Good addition to my other Ryobi tools.

This equipment was purchased is to remove numerous branches that are overhanging our garden from roadside trees. The work is not yet complete, but the performance of this "chainsaw on a pole" has been beyond expectations relating the its efficiency and the size of the branches it can tackle. My stable of Ryobi battery powered tools is growing ever bigger.

Excellent tool. But the pole whilst being stiff is let down by the screw joints. I think yourmetallic telescopic earlier version is a better solution. The rivets through the plastic will loosenover time and when using the extension will compromise the joint stiffness and be come loose.But impressed with its work rate and motor power. Quite impressed with this as I got it at a discounted price via a Ryobi deal and was weighing up a pricier competitor from a yellow brand. Actually, I am more than happy with this, it is right up there with the better value and more effective Ryobi products released in the 18v + range. Even at full price it would be good value and gets the job done. I've put it to work immediately on a big laurel and it copes with all branch thicknesses with ease and with a 4ah battery there was plenty of juice left. Recommended. Only gripe is it's quite hard to store without the oil leaking as the bar and chain oil cap doesn't seal 100% completely.

The pole saw is an effective tool but it is heavy and when combined with the 3m extension sections, cumbersome to use. The pole, at full length is pretty floppy and bends more when the saw is twisted on one side. A counter weight on the hand grip end of the tool would be helpful in offsetting the weight. It was good to be able to purchase the tool without a battery (as I already have two) but it would have been good to have an option to just by the saw head without the hand grip and extension pole (I already have these which came with the pole hedge trimmer that I own). That said, it does the job I need it for and is good value for money, I think.

Brilliant tool!

This is one of the best cordless power tools ever. I had borrowed one of these from a friend a while ago and used it to lop the crown out of a cherry tree that was getting a bit too tall. It cut through the branches like a knife through butter. It was also manageable enough to be able to use it whilst standing a few feet off the ground on a ladder, which enabled me to reach high enough up the tree to cut where I wanted. I was so impressed that I was determined to buy one on Ebay as soon as one popped up at a reasonable price.

Bought this for my son-in-law as the back of his garden fence is overrun with brambles. He absolutely loved it, so much that he didn’t want to stop when it started raining!You need reasonable strength to manage it as the mini chain saw is heavy especially when the pole was fully extended but it cut through some inch thick branches with ease and he finished his work in half the time! Definitely would recommend it!

This is a great addition to my Ryobi One+ collection. For the money it is a useful tool making light work of pruning my Magnolia tree. I have since pruned two more trees with ease. I topped up the oil reservoir with some general purpose lubricating oil I had in the garage as the little bottle provided is only enough for one filling. With the extension pole fitted it is quite heavy at the saw end but once rested on the branch to be cut helps with the cut. It's a bit tricky cutting vertical branches, especially high up, but easier once you get used to what it can do. Hardly any battery power was used. I have saved 100's on tree surgeons so a good buy.
