Found it ideal for sanding my stairs down, quick, easy leaves very smooth professional finish. Going back to carpet runner with rods, so will be painting staining treads & risers, so needed something that left it smooth as a silk.B&Q had it in stock for me to conveniently pick up after work, ( click & collect) staff at branch always excellent on customer service.

My partner was so looking forward to sanding back her bedside drawers with this, and having the One+ range already, we decided on this. Within 10mins, after hard work and some result, it stalled and started to smoke. After letting it cool down we tried again but it was obvious it was struggling. We've learned from some of the items available in the One+ range, and found that some of them are basically toys, and not even good toys. Avoid this one don't even try. We have replaced it with the Ryobi 300W Random Orbital Sander, cheaper and 75% more efficient.

Palm sander is light and simple to use. Easy to get into corners. Simple to change sandpaper pads. Great for a non tradesman worried about their own abilities.

This is excellent apart from the ability to source spare sanding sheets in the correct size. The sander is reasonably priced for the quality and combined with large battery will last for ages with no cord getting in the way. Build quality and power are good but limited aftermarket availability of sanding sheets makes they expensive in the long run - basically beyond one project.The ryobi sheets are overpriced, if you can get them. I cant understand why B&Q stock this sander and not the ryobi sanding sheets or anything else in the correct size! Bought one today and as far as sanders go its great. Gets into corners and when used with a 4ah battery you have plenty of run time, makes it a bit heavier but you only get so much run time with a 1.3ah battery, best advice is go for a bigger battery if you have other ryobi one+ tools as it's worth it in the long term.Only down side for me is that the power switch can be easily switched off during use, other than that no faults and would have had 5* for everything . Also sanding sheets for it are plentiful and cheap enough if you look around. Best advice is grab some extra sheets at the same time as you pick one up.
We're renovating our living room and we needed a sander for smoothing caulk and plaster here and there. Therefore, very light use. I didn't get the chance to use a full battery charge before it failed. It makes noise, but it doesn't vibrate anymore. This has to be the worst power tool I ever bought. Unfortunately, I lost the receipt so I can't claim warranty. Ryobi? Never again. I have a nail gun from the same company and I'm expecting it to fail too.
As I already had other Ryobi 18V ONE+ tools, I thought this would be useful in sanding back external painted timber window/door frames/moldings. I had low expectations but thought better than my old corded sander when moving about the house. Whilst I do have a 5AHr battery, I was so surprised at the running time and its got plenty of muscle in it. I haven't so far ran the battery out in any one session. I run out before it does.
This sander is great when it worked, however I have lightly sanded a small bathroom ceiling 1.5 doors, a window frame and it has now stopped working? Disappointed to say the least. I bought it in March and used it for a total of an hour? Come on RYOBI you can do far better than this surely? I have other RYOBI products and they are robust and fantastic. I bought this sander as it was part of the one range. :(
This tool is good, being cordless. But when the battery is fitted.Its very badly out of balance. Feeling "Back heavy" all the time. Works well. But using it a long time. your hands will ache. Honest review !! Dave. Suffolk
While the sander works ok the removal of the battery from the sander is extremely difficult. I have tried a number of batteries but it is the sander. My other Ryobi tools don't have the same problem so this is disappointing and I wouldn't recommend this particular sander.
