I purchased this after reviewing multiple stud finders around this price bracket. I can report back and say the Ryobi Stud Finder works and found the studs on the first attempt. I haven't tried looking for live wires behind the wall yet. As a DIY'er this suits my needs perfectly.

What a refreshing change - a stud finder that actually works! I’ve now successfully wall mounted a TV, dryer and toilet roll holder thanks to finding stud locations with this tool. The lights are intuitive and the inbuilt marker is an added bonus I was not expecting.

A bit hit and miss really. It worked well for locating the first two studs, but completely failed to indicate the third one. I know it’s there, as I had brackets on it previously, but the finder didn’t find it. I’ll persist with it, and hope for the best, but I’m afraid I’m going to end up with small nail holes all thru my gyprock again?!? Lol

It gives all fall result. Sometimes blinks all the time and sometimes doesn't light on. It is really frustrating. Minus 5 star form me. Unable to refund it because already throw recits. Please please don't buy if u re beginner like me. It will stress you a lot.
Great in locating studs behind gyprock. I have tried others, including much more expansive brands but it seems that this is the only one that accurately finds the studs. With lights you can easily move left to right to find the middle of the stud. Saves drilling test holes and filling mis fires.
Just switched from the German brand scanner and my gosh what a difference.This stud finder is actually easy to use and quick at marking studs rather than trying to confirm the centre of a single stud by going back and forth multiple times.This new ryobi stud finder provides precise results and even the AC detection is quite accurate with no spamming warning when the wire is more than 5cm away.Even half the price compared to similar designed stud finders.If you’re a beginner, just read the simple instructions and you’re set.Don’t know what the 1 star reviews on about, dude doesn’t even know how to use a keyboard.An easy recommendation from me.

Firstly, its relatively cheap, but that doesn't mean its nasty. When comparing other stud finders when purchasing I found that this one offers the same if not better features, for example, AC detection and LED light up to show the center of the Stud, a feature normally reserved for higher priced items. The Stud finder came with its own battery so no need to worry about that. I simply unpacked the item and used it straight away. Was a bit sceptical when reading all the reviews but decided to give it a go after having absolutely no success with my Stanley stud finder. The Ryobi stud finder worked perfectly and found all the studs located behind a plaster wall - simple and easy.
Bought this on 25th Feb 2023. Worked ok. But it could not differentiate wood with other materials. For fixing my TV wall mount in my apartment, It found the first vertical timber. For the second one LEDs flashed full. But unfortunately it turned out that wasn't timber. More likely it must have been some kind of metal or aluminum behind the gyprock. The screw went straight in.
This great value stud finder works exactly as advertised. We have used it in several different situations and we can't fault it. The ability to warn us of power in the area is a fantastic feature. Definitely recommend as a great product and great value.
