Japanese Curry Mix, Golden Curry, Medium Hot This is deliciousness in a box! However, you do need to put a little work in. Now I didn't completely follow the directions on the box. First, I took 2lbs of chicken thighs, skin and bone in, seasoned with salt, pepper, and a little bit of sugar (this gives a nice carmalization to the skin). Take a large sauce pot, add 3tbsp of oil to medium high heat. Add seasoned thighs and cook for 5 min on both sides. Remove and let rest. Add sliced onions, diced celery, and wedge cut rolled carrots, add large diced green peppers to pot and Sautee for 5-6min. While that is cooking, turn your attention to the chicken. Debone it and cut into bite-sized piece (don't toss the bones, they have plenty of meat and lots of flavor). Add chicken, bones too, to the pot. Toss everything and add 5 cups of water to the pot and bring to boil. Reduce heat, add 2 bricks of Golden Curry to the pot, cover and simmer for 20 minutes, stir occasionally. Add salt and pepper to your liking. If it seems unbalanced, stir in a pinch of sugar. Serve over white rice or noodles. Makes about 10 to 12 servings.

Curry is a comfort kind of food. I love to make a quick veggie curry with this SB Golden Curry Sauce Mix Middle hot (no meat contained) because it is designed for vegetarian people who would like to avoid animal ingredients, onion and garlic. It cooks quickly and forms a thick sauce without having to add any additional starch or thickener. Crazy easy to use as you just dissolve a cube and combine with water and coconut milk. Not spicy at all if you want spice go hotter. I like mild curry so it was great for me. I strongly recommend this product. Features details * Traditional Japanese curry sauce mix * Harmony of spices and herbs sets the standard of Japanese style curry * Excellent when served over grilled or sauteed cubed beef and rice

When I lived in a Germany, we ordered this meal at a Restaurant. This tastes just like what they served.

Classic flavor but not spicy
22 November 2022

The box says it’s a medium hot. I know this is pulling hairs, but I’d probably said it’s a mild hot. There’s barely any spice. If you’re looking for spicy , like I was, I’d go with atleast their hot. Otherwise, it’s classic Golden Curry flavor.

Excellent Curry Sauce - Best Walmart carries

This is the best tasting curry sauce and the easiest to make - take it from me, I'm an east indian single guy who loves curry and loves to cook good quick tasty meals. Don't know how to cook? Do this: Get a small sauce pan (small pot in guy language) Add one cup of water to it plus 2/3 cup milk. Break off two pieces of the curry roux from package and put in with water/milk (equivelent to one and 2/3 cup sauce when done) - set mixture on low or medium low. Come by your mixture every 2 or 3 minutes and give a quick stir so it doesn't stick. (Btw, it takes about 7 to 10 minutes for pieces of curry roux to dissolve, then another 10 minutes to thicken up nice) - keep it on low and stir occasionally. (Btw, it takes about 7 to 10 minutes for pieces of curry roux to dissolve, then another 10 minutes to thicken up nice) - keep it on low and stir occasionally. So, what do you do while the curry sauce is thickening? You prep and cook your meat and vegetables. In a fry pan or shallow sauce pan put 2 or 3 tbs of olive oil - warm it up on medium heat. Cut up your meat (chicken or beef). I cut it up to bite size pieces so it cooks faster and easier to manipulate while eating. If you have a cheaper cuts of meat, I fry it for about thee minutes and then boil it with an additional one cup of water. Boiling it will break the meat down and make it more tender. If regular meat and chicken, stir fry until cooked thoroughly through. While you are frying the meat and it is about half way done, chop up quarter or half an onion and throw it in with your meat. If you don't like shopping for vegetables, buy one of the many types of frozen packaged veggies - they are economical and easy to cook. In a medium sauce pan (medium size pot) add about 2 or 3 inches of water, bring to boil. Once water boiling, throw your winter veggie mix in (add about double the amount you eat, so you have enough for lunch or dinner tomorrow). Winter veggie mix is cauliflower and broccoli. Boil veggies for about 5 to 8 minutes. All while you do your meat prep/cook/ as well as veggies - stir your curry sauce every few minutes. This isn't rocket science, it's easy. You can impress your parents, your friends, and even that girl who you know that likes you (or guy, for that matter). When meat is done, veggies cooked, put on your plate and pour some of the curry sauce over top of the meat and veggies - Seriously, it is sooooo goood. Soooo easy to make. You'll be a master at it. Cook some rice on the side if you like it.Yield on the curry sauce, as stated above, is about one and two thirds cup of curry. How far will this go? When I am single, it lasts me four meals. If I have a girlfriend over eating with me, it will last two meals. Left over curry sauce, just put in a container (once cooled off) cover it up, put in fridge, use within a few days. I actually got into a deep conversation about this curry sauce in curry aisle at WalMart Uptown (town and country back then) with a woman I met (years and years ago). We met a second time in the curry ailse a week or so later and she ended up taking me home with her a few days after that (yes, to cook!) - I cooked for her and showed her a few cooking techniques I use. She was impressed. She is probably, sadly, married now. Sad for me, that is, not her. She was a real cutie back then and I happened to be dating someone else back then unfortunately. See, easy peezee eh. Anyone can do it. Now you can to. Love cooking, it is easy and you don't starve (or end up eating at the fast food place.)

Loved it! Instructions very helpful too!
11 September 2022

Loved it! The mild spiciness and heat on label was perfect, and accurate. The instructions on the side panel were very helpful, even though you can easily improvise on it. Just be aware that the curry paste becomes quite thick when mixed with hot boiling water. So if you need a watery curry sauce, make that separately and then mix it with the main ingredients. Best for chicken and turkey. May need a bit more spiciness if you are using it for beef.

Really tasty curry cubes!
27 November 2022

I love this curry! It's very simple but nice and flavorful. Expect it to be a bit salty, but it's so simple to make and delicious. If you find it too salty, just add a little extra water. It's flavorful enough that you won't notice it being diluted much! I simmer mine with chicken and potatoes! It's not really spicy at all- and I say this as somebody who does NOT like spicy food. I really love it! I'll be buying this frequently :-) !

Sops well with bread, as the gravy is thick and rich. It's not limited to beef either, it's also used with chicken, pork and shrimp. This brand my household has been using for over 30 years, and it's the only curry we use for seasoning traditional beef stew, as it doesn't take away from it, but adds the richest gravy e-v-e-r.FYI: Mild version is the typical heat ratio (black pepper heat level) for this dish for Japanese (get the black and red label if you like chili hot).3.5oz is the 2 to 4 person fry pan sized meal version. Get the family size packs if you're cooking for the firehouse or with a 5qt crock pot.

Very flexible comfort food

This sauce mix will turn just about any selection of veggies and meat into a Japanese stew perfect for serving over rice, with enough spice to warm your body but not enough to burn your tongue. Kare raisu is a staple Japanese comfort food, and this makes it super easy.EXPERIMENT with this. Use different meats and vegetables based on what's cheap or what you like. The classic uses carrots, potatoes and onion- onion is important, never skip it. Everything else is up to you.
