I have now purchased my second Sage kettle, the first I've had for about 7/8 years and my only reason for replacing is that on occasions I'm having to switch it on quite a few times before for it to boil or it switches off part-way during boiling. I don't understand why there is a list of different tea settings but nothing for ordinary tea such as Earl Grey etc. I noticed also that it takes nearly 4 minutes for the water to boil for black tea and I'm sure it was less time with the previous Sage although it didn't have all the different settings. I don't like the fact that the design narrows at the top unlike the previous. Hopefully this one will last as long as the previous if not longer .

I ordered the Sage smart kettle to match my Sage Barista Pro machine. It arrives the next morning (less than 24 hours) despite the order confirmation saying it would take 3-4 working days! It is well packaged just as the high standard that Sage products expected. It also comes with a sachet of descaler. When looking at the actual product, it is more sleek than the photo. Function wise, there are 5 temperature controls and a keep-warm button sitting neatly on the base, soft release lid is adding to the safety. Tested the 100 degree, it heats up really quickly! I am very pleased with the purchase and it is a great addition to my drink station!

We love our new Sage kettle - after struggling for years with a bell bottom shaped kettle, as I have a disability and found it really hard to lift/tip. I decided enough was enough and we needed to get a new one. My husband loves his Sage espresso machine, and a friend had recommended this kettle from the brand, so we went with this. It's super light in comparison to our last kettle and I like that it's a push button lid; the alert features when it's done and when you put it on are great; you can see the water gauge easily, and I love the different heat functions, depending on what you're boiling the water for. Looking forward to using it for bottle feeds with our little one soon, too! Will hopefully make the waiting time for the water to cool a bit shorter. It's a ... MoreWe love our new Sage kettle - after struggling for years with a bell bottom shaped kettle, as I have a disability and found it really hard to lift/tip. Looking forward to when we can afford to swap out the toaster to match!

I bought the latest model Sage smart kettle to replace an earlier model because the plastic soft close lid had failed after 8 years. I was so happy with the kettle that I approached Sage to try to buy a spare lid - however the lid was not available as a spare - and Sage offered me a decent discount on the current model so I bought it. It’s a great kettle - just as many features as the earlier model - and exactly the same soft close lid! So - with an eye to having a spare kettle - always handy - I asked Sage if they could supply that lid as a spare so I could repair my old kettle! The quick answer from the customer service rep was that it’s not available! Such a shame as the plastic does harden and crack over time (8 years in my case!). I’m still waiting for someone ... MoreI bought the latest model Sage smart kettle to replace an earlier model because the plastic soft close lid had failed after 8 years. I’m still waiting for someone at Sage to respond to my request to escalate my suggestion that the lid should be made available as a spare to senior management!I would have given 5 stars without any doubt if the lid was spareable!
I bought this kettle to match my Sage coffee machine. Fairly quiet when boiling and gives you 3 beeps when it’s done. If you use the keep warm feature, it will re-boil it until you remove it from the base. Different settings for different teas and coffee. Very satisfying push button for the lid to open. One thing that could do with being better is the water level gauge. It’s hard to see how much water is in there, you have to give it a jiggle, lift it for weight or open the lid and look in. It’s not a major issue but a niggle. Overall I love it.
We have had this kettle just over 2 years. It's utterly gorgeous and we couldn't have been happier with our purchase. But...and this is a big but, this kettle has been highly temperamental during its time with us. Unlike most kettles, it does not boil when the button is selected, it turns itself off - which means it requires more supervision than our toddler. Unless of course you wish to have 100 degrees hot water and then it does the exact opposite, once it starts boiling, it just can't help itself, it boils and boils until turned off. Which fills our kitchen with more steam than a steam room, which is quite something. It's been highly embarrassing whilst entertaining - promising our guests that "...we will get that coffee to you before it's your time to leave". ... MoreWe have had this kettle just over 2 years. At times it was just downright ridiculous (and stressful, when faced with a horde of children who require that pasta now please and thank you), how much cajoling was needed to get it to complete its actual purpose - to boil water. Again, our toddler has nothing on this kettle, but its good looks and the temperature options made up for its faults. That was until yesterday, when the lid exploded whilst the kettle was being filled with water. The plastic around the lid is brittle and has cracked where every screw attached the inner lid to the frame (which has remained attached to the kettle). One can only assume, it was all the extra steaming those screws have had.Considering its pricetag and the unreliable electrical design that's gone into this kettle, we are now sure we were expecting too much from this brand. It's a shame too, that these parts cannot be purchased to try and salvage this naughty kettle from landfill. Judging by the numerous reviews, these faults are not limited to the kettle in our ownership, which has certainly quelled any feelings of animosity against this particular kettle. Which we expect will last until we purchase the next kettle...
We have had 3 of these kettles in the past 6 years as we are big tea drinkers. We love the kettle but have to add to these reviews to give a balanced perspective. Sounds crazy but it is not waterproof around the electric buttons. Each time we have spilt water by mistake from the kettle onto the buttons, it has killed the kettle. Now a 3rd time which is forcing us to not buy this model again as it is getting silly and expensive. Plus we hope Sage read this because it is a crazy manufacturer error to not ensure of waterproof buttons when the whole purpose of a kettle is based around water. It is not the fuse, once or twice we dried the base our in our airing cupboard but this was on the odd lucky occasion. Too much water onto those buttons and it kills the kettle.
We first saw these in New Zealand under the Breville branding. They work well although our previous one stopped working after 6 years. We could not find a replacement element anywhere on line, which forced us to buy a new one kettle.Interestingly it was the same price as six years ago so the supplies must have been making a lot of profit then.It is now a lower power than my first one which was 3000w, this one is only 2400 Watts which means that it is slower than before. It takes the same amount of energy to boils 1 litre of water using 3kW as it does 2.4kW , perhaps it is cheaper for the manufacturer. The multi temperature function is the advantage of this kettle over others, also we think it looks better that other multi temperature makes. We also ordered a ... MoreWe first saw these in New Zealand under the Breville branding. They did send me a replacement , I do think that is poor quality control.
I bought this from John Lewis with 2 year warranty. It looks a lovely piece of work and I love the LED switches. Mostly it worked fine but does need regular descaling if the max temperature setting, the one we use 99% of the time, is to actually switch off. Otherwise you fill the litchen wirh steam. I'd have thought the temp detector would make it switch off in this case. Now the warranty has expired, tge central glass part if the lid has become unstuck. The kettle still operates but I have to stand over it to switch it off. I will look for a less costly kettle now. This is not worth the high price as it didn't last much more than the warranty period. Not much different to the cheaper kettles I have had in the past.
I have enjoyed using this kettle which has worked perfectly for about 4 years but a few days ago it suddenly stopped working. I checked that it had not blown a fuse in the apartment. My local electrical appliances shop examined it and tells me the problem appears to be in the electronic system and that it would only be repairable if it were still under guarantee. As I've had it for about 4 years it is no longer under guarantee. So how do I get it repaired? I have no desire to scrap an excellent product after such a short period of use, thus adding to the pointless waste in our endangered planet. I'd appreciate your help.
