I think this is a very lovely, well made shoe, however the way the shoe looks in person is different than it looks in the photos. For one thing, the tongue is quite padded (1/2 inch thick and has a mesh pocket to hold the laces) and sticks up in a way that somewhat interrupts the overall sleekness that the website image suggests. The shoes themselves are silver with purple-grey to lavender details rather than metal grey, and they shimmer in the sunlight. I ended up liking the reflective look but others who want a stealthier streetstyle look may not be as enthused. The toe box is roomy so if you’re gonna use this as a running shoe, it’ll definitely allow for some splaying of the toes as you run. Another pleasant surprise is that the XT-Slate is way more breathable than the Nike ACG Mountain Fly Lows I bought last year.
