The Salomon men's Quest Element Gore-Tex Hiking Boots have been designed to withstand adventures in the harshest of environments. Boasting a lightweight construction with a supportive higher cut than the classic Quest alongside a hardwearing Nubuck leather upper and Gore-Tex membrane, feet will be fully protected from whatever the trail ahead has to throw at you. All-terrain stability is also guaranteed with the patented ADV-C chassis that keeps you stable on uneven terrain. This works by keeping outer ankle articulations safe and protected, leaving the front of the shoe soft and flexible to move freely with a fluid stride. Additionally, an EnergyCell midsole and moulded OrthoLite sockliner provides cushioning to where it is needed most. To finish, the Contagrip TD outsole and deep lug pattern ensure a high level of traction and grip on a variety of dry, loose and wet surfaces.

I bought these boots after trying them on in store with my orthotics and thought they felt okay, I noticed they were quite firm and there was a part of the boot where a stitching line is that just dug in a little whenever I took a step. At first I just figured it was nothing to worry about and once the boots wore in, there wouldn't be an issue. Boy was I wrong. Every time I go walking in these boots, my right foot always ends up sore along the outer edge and both feet get jabbed constantly by that stitching line I mentioned. I'm willing to bet my orthotics are to blame as they raise the foot in the boot a tad higher than the insert that comes with the boot and therefore sits your foot in a place where normally, it wouldn't be an issue. I bought these Salomon quest element boots about 8months ago after previously buying cheaper makes that split after about 6 months. I liked the high cut and have a pair of Salomon trail running shoes that are a great fit (size 9) so thought these would be similar. Wore them couple of time walking the dog just to break them in and felt comfortable straight away, a bit rubbing at top of the boot but this was sorted by just slackening laces at top of boot. I like how the boot holds in place around the middle of the foot so plenty room in toe space and even on steep descents your foot doesn't slide forward so toes don't press against front of the boot. I have done a lot of hill walking over past 8months in all weather and feet have stayed dry even through boggy marsh ... MoreI bought these Salomon quest element boots about 8months ago after previously buying cheaper makes that split after about 6 months. There is no sign of any splitting or sole coming away or burst stitching love the support they give your ankle and amazingly comfortable. Only issue I've found is grip not good on wet rocks and tread has worn down quite quickly on the heals ( see pics) would buy Salomon again but probably quest4 gtx to see if grip on wet rocks any better.

I have had these boots for just over a year, and it has not been an easy year for them. I have worked in Law Enforcement for 20 years and I have never had a boot like these. I have put these through the ringer, from muddy backyards, super hot nasty summer, to standing in one spot for a long period of time these boots are amazing. Everyday I pack an extra 10-35 pounds of gear on a not so small framed person and I love these boots. I have had Merrells, Bates, Danners and more and nothing I have ever had has held up to this abuse. I can’t say enough good things. I will be buying another set as the tread had started to wear down, otherwise I would still be running these boots for probably another year.

Love my Salomon boots. Good protection from water (streams, puddles etc), excellent support around the ankle, a good long lasting heavy duty boot. Feet can get a little warm due to the goretex but that's the balance you have to weigh up. For me I'd prefer having a slightly warmer foot than going for a low cut shoe. I do find it a bit snug compared to my old Keen boots (which were a wide fit - and started to deteriorate after one trip! ), but I think that's just a Salomon thing. Not too tight that it's uncomfortable, just more noticable than other shoes (nb. I do have a wide size 13 dutch foot). Got mine in July 2022 and very happy so far.
I was really sad about spending so much money on shoes, now I am actually really happy because these shoes make me feel invincible. Nice and grippy soles (not good for slippery rocks! Good for other rocks though and also mud) and the waterproofing is just great. If you’re careful about tucking the tongue when you lace up you can wade through the water pretty much up to the top of the boot. Amazing. Yet they are also VERY lightweight and breathable. My feet normally have a hard time adjusting to new footwear yet I wore these for 6 hours and my feet actually felt GOOD when I took them off. This is my second pair of Salomon shoes (first pair is BBS streetwear collab) and I can say the size and fit is very consistent, They are actually not a bad looking shoe either. I bought these in April, the waterproofing of the boots has already failed. The left boot gets wet, the right boot is completely failed and I've poured water out of it despite wearing gortex rain pants so it's definitely not leaking from the top. I've used them for a campground job where a majority of they're use is not actually hiking but light walking and the overall wetness of mopping the floor so they haven't been worn down from extraneous use and haven't been submerged multiple times. The first time encountering actual water from a separate incident for work where water proof shoes were required, they soaked my feet completely.Unfortunately using warranty seems to so far only given a voucher of the same price of the boots for their American site without ... MoreI bought these in April, the waterproofing of the boots has already failed. The left boot gets wet, the right boot is completely failed and I've poured water out of it despite wearing gortex rain pants so it's definitely not leaking from the top. ProsThey look really cool, quite comfortable, extremely lightweight and easy to clean. The shoes also seemed to hold up well with waterproofing until they split.ConsFor the price the quality is really lacking. I've found that with my last few Salomon purchases the footwear has fallen apart at the seams after light use, I just completed 10 days of what was a very taxing hike with a heavy backpack on mainly bare rock and scree and the boots have fallen apart - not something I would expect for a product advertised as upper tier. The rubber on the soles is already more worn than an old pair of scarpa boots that I've easily done 10k+ kilometers in. The stiches have split along both sides, making it more likely you'd roll your ankle as the side support is ... MoreProsThey look really cool, quite comfortable, extremely lightweight and easy to clean. It seems like they have compromised on durability while trying to go more lightweight. I think most customers wouldn't notice the difference of a few extra grams for a more durable product but would certainly appreciate not having to purchase a new pair of boots each year. If you plan on doing any intense multi day backpacking trips and want something reliable and worth the price, I'd avoid these boots.
I bought these boots for my son to hike a portion of the AT and to summit Mt. Khatadin in. He wore these boots around the house and to school and he found them to be very comfortable. The problem began when he was on his hike. He was wearing a pair of toe socks and a pair of Darn Tough socks (he wore this combination last summer when he hiked the Vermont along Trail in a different pair of boots and he had no problems). He was carrying a 30 pound pack and within the first 15 miles of the hike he developed blisters on both of his heels. When I reached out to Salomon I was told that the boots were out of the 30 day comfort warranty. They recommended that he wear two pairs of socks and put blister tape on his heels. Poorly built boot. This boot may be appropriate for heavy people with thick ankles, but it is badly made for average or slimmer ankles.I bought the boot because of the sizing - I need a wide fit - and the high lacing, which is good. However it is poorly made and not fit for purpose. When you lace the boot to the top, to achieve the ‘high’ ankle support, the top lace eye cause the boot cuff to roll inward. This common on boots and is usually managed by the manufacturers by padding this area and ensuring the seam connecting the inner and outer is on the outside of the cuff. In this boot there is negligible padding and the seam is at the top of the cuff. This seam rolls inward - it is hard and has no padding. After tried multiple well known brands of waterproof hiking boots without success (they all leaked water), I decided to give Salomon a try since my wife's Salomon hiking boots had stayed dry over two seasons. She even wore them as winter boots if snow is not too deep.I must say, this is the best pair of hiking boots I've ever owned. It's lightweight and comfortable. I've wore it for >8 hours per day multiple times, and my feet were still very comfortable at the end of the day. Most importantly, the boots remained waterproof after a month. So far so good.
