Salomon Women's Speedcross 5 Trail Running Shoes

Salomon Women's Speedcross 5 Trail running shoes (4, grey/white) - The Women's Speedcross 5 is a revamped version of a classic from Salomon. It boasts the same distinctive lug design as its predecessors, so it’s guaranteed to provide grip and traction on technical trails and mountainous terrain. In addition to the excellent technical features, the shoes look spectacular as well, so you can run the trails or roam the hills with pride! Along the way, the upper will adapt perfectly to the movements of your foot, but it remains tough enough to withstand the wear and tear that comes with trail running. Lastly, the shoe comes complete with a quick-lacing system for a customised fit as well as a lace pocket on the tongue to keep the laces out of the way.

Best Trail Shoe Ever!

I purchased this shoe online. I had tried on a couple of different Salomon trail runners in a store, and knew I was a comfortable size 7.5. I wasn't certain about the shoes I tried on for certain and ended up not purchasing in-store. When I got home, I looked at the entire line of Salomon trail runners available through MEC (there were more available in my size than what was available in-store). I read the reviews on this shoe (which were many and were excellent!) and I was convinced to give them a go.Right from the moment I put them on, the fit, feel and function of them was exceptional. I have actually used them for running trails, light hiking and mountain biking, and they are amazing!!! Comfort, stability, light weight and supportive! These are the best trail shoes ever! I just ordered a second pair because I'm obsessed. I've worn them all over the world and hiked up mountains, on slippery rock trails, through the mud and snow, etc. and they are the best, most grippy, comfortable hiking shoe I've ever worn. I have a wider foot and a narrow heel and these fit great.#sweepstakes

Comfortable, sizing is crazy

I have an older version of the speed cross and had trouble finding an appropriate size this time around. Basically I went from being a size 7 to a size 6 in the same shoe even though the European sizing still is the same number value. I’ve come to the conclusion that Salomon’s sizing is whack and pulled out of thin air. There seems to be no point of reference on sizing even considering I purchased many pairs of Salomon footwear in the past.Otherwise the shoe is comfortable and no break in time was required. It’s a nice snug fit for my narrow feet and doesn’t rub or cause blisters on long runs/hikes. Supportive through the arches for a neutral foot as well. The Speedcross has been my go to trail shoe for the last few years.

Does the work.

The shoes look great and they have a good grip for any terrain. The outer sole provides good support. My issue with these shoes are that the toe box is too tight around my big toe joint and put too much pressure on my bunion area and the inner sole doesn't provide the cushion it promises. It's actually somewhat hard for a hiking/trail shoe.It runs true to size, I usually wear a size 8.5 wide or 9 when wide options aren't available. I bought a size 8.5 because I read some reviews that these shoes run larger so to bump a size/half-size up (don't do it). I would try a size 9 for the toe box if I had found them more comfortable as far as cushion goes. I had a bunion surgery a few months ago and toe room and inner cushion are important to me. If that doesn't bother ... MoreThe shoes look great and they have a good grip for any terrain. Extremely comfortable but lasted only one month
6 May 2021

I walk 6.5 miles each day 5 days a week without fail. My walk consists of 4mph walking over 60% rugged trail and gravel with some incline and 40% pavement. These shoes initially were a dream because they were soo comfortable. Unfortunately after 36 days my feet were starting to hurt and I checked the soles. They literally had worn through the bottom all the way to the inside of the shoe. I have the road runner heat induced inserts so I didn't know they had worn through like that. My thought is that the rubber on this model may be a different consistency than normally used in the past? It felt much softer than similar ones I had bought prior. I am so bummed. I am now hunting for a replacement that has a sturdier sole.

Great design - Too narrow
23 July 2021

I have worn SALOMON Women's 8.5, joggers, approach shoes, hiking boots, winter boots, water shoes - for decades. With few exceptions, the fit has been consistently perfect for my slightly wide with one bunion feet.Over the last 6 months I have ordered 5 different pair of Salomon women's 8.5, of which I can only consider 2 (high top hikers) due to a fit in the others that is leaning toward longer and narrower, rather than the roomy fore-foot and toe box I have grown accustomed to. The Speedcross 5 have a sleek design that I find aesthetically appealing, are lightweight yet appear solidly constructed, with a grippy tread that I imagine would perform well. I'm envious of those whose foot these are made for and will wait for something comparable to be manufactured on the original Salomon last.

Great shoe
7 June 2022

I am an avid runner in the Colorado mountains. I like steep and uneven terrain. The Speedcross 5 felt a bit different from the Speedcross 4 that I have come to know and love. Right out o the gate on my first 6 mile trail run with about 1700 to 2000 feet of elevation gain I noticed a much higher arch. I was happy to say I had no blisters although the higher arch and more supportive sole was a bit different and I think I like the difference as I could tell it was a more substantial running shoe. Although I have a fairly flat arch I felt it throughout my run but not in a bad way and I didn’t have any arch pain afterwards. It was only my first run but I would say keep an open mind as at first I was “oh my god they changed it” and ended with “hmm.. this may be a better ... MoreI am an avid runner in the Colorado mountains. Salomon has been a favorite of mine for trail racing for years and it keeps getting better. I am going to put my faith in Salomon and keep on trucking with the Speedcross 5!

Great shoe for another foot
9 November 2020

The Speedcross 5 is one of the most highly rated shoes for technical terrain.I do short road runs and 12 km walks that include pavement and gravel. With Winter approaching I needed something for less stable surfaces.Gave these a try. Took an 8.5 over my usual 9. It had amazing cushioning. (I usually run in the Saucony Hurricane 22 and had found the Peregrine fell short in this area). The lugs could tackle any terrain. I found the shoe to be too long and narrow. I needed to tighten the laces quite a bit but was still not sure they were holding my foot properly on the ankle area. In the Gore-Tex model the right shoe made a funny noise. Also found it hard to adapt to the feeling of the shoe, felt like I was too high up - with the lugs felt like there was just “too much ... MoreThe Speedcross 5 is one of the most highly rated shoes for technical terrain.I do short road runs and 12 km walks that include pavement and gravel. Impressed!

Having run in Saucony Everun for years I was dubious about trying a different brand. I d started to develop knee and hip problems with the Saucony s due to their limited support and opted for the Salamon Speedcross based on all the positive reviews. The Salamon Speedcross were fantastic from the start. Far more supportive around the foot, particularly the arch area. It s like they hug your foot. The quick lace system was new to me but proven a better method than standard laces especially in wet & soggy conditions. The lugs are deeper than any saucony everun but were not uncomfortable running on tarmac. The heal - toe drop in these Salamons are greater than the Saucony Everun but does not affect balance or grip running off road. Loved the shoes but they broke after 5 uses!
27 January 2022

I loved these shoes, the cushion was amazing and zero break-in period. After my main hikers got soaked on a rainy/muddy trail, I used these brand new trail runners the following day for what turned out to be 19km return trip. Not one single hot spot or soreness experienced, they were awesome. However, after about 5 uses I noticed the stitching coming up where the tongue is attached to the shoe and sure enough, I stopped to adjust and refasten the lacing system half way up Stawamus Chief hike and the tongue ripped right out. I took them back to MEC hoping for a repair but it wasn't possible. This is the second pair of Salomon shoes that have broken (the sole on my husband's hikers complete separated) within one year of ownership so I'm not sure I'll purchase from ... MoreI loved these shoes, the cushion was amazing and zero break-in period.
