The Goretex liner is built into the upper tongue area better than in previous years - no more sock to slip into - or it wouldn’t be an option for me. The toe cap & sole are key for features for me. Fortunately the sides (near the ankle) are lower - some of the previous Goretex models were too high. The lacing system doesn’t seem as durable as previous models & I hope it holds up. Thats my only concern. The stiff soles (that I want) make them a bit less comfortable than some of the lighter shoes but these are great for legit hiking.

This is my third pair of these shoes and each pair has lasted an impressive number of years. I have hiked many kilometers and summited many mountains in them. This version I ordered the same size and am dismayed to find the volume (not length) is huge compared to the older models. My feet slop around inside and the cuff seems to come up really high around my ankle. I still love these as an everyday shoe, especially in wet weather but can no longer run in them or do big hikes. Super disappointed to have to find a new shoe for these activities.

Four years ago I purchased a pair of Salomon Gore-tex trail hikers, when I had my right hip replace. I wanted shoes I could slip on and off. I LOVED my old shoes and wore them so much that they were finally starting to wear out. Salomon wasn't making them anymore, so I took a chance on the XA PRO 3D V9 GORE-TEX. I LOVE them. I had my left hip replaced June 19, so I was hoping for the same convenience as the old shoes. These are great and I like them better overall than my older ones.

Overall great qualityI really like the colour combination which I found nothing appealing for a while.Even it has Gore Tex, it didn’t run small.I wore them for a 10K, they felt harder than Cross Speed and other runners for sure. However, the water proof and grappling sole features make up for the comfort and ease of some ugly winter days when you want to have a run outdoors.The sizing is overall true to size for length especially. I chose “it runs big” as it’s still spacious width wise with warm socks.
This is at least my 5th pair of Salomon, I usually bought goretex speed pros , and they fit perfect and lasted well in my opinion, considering I am on my feet all the time !But unfortunately the last pair of a bit different model is a waist of money, they are pretty wide so my foot doesn’t keep stable, also I went out to water plants in the garden some droplets fell on the show not much and my feet were wet, that’s like the second time I wore them! zipping them up tighter doesn’t work as it just kills blood flow. and my feet are tired very quickly, where is before I could go for hours and be perfectly fine. So I wish I could exchange them on my usual pare
Bought this recently and wore during my trip to NYC and it was perfect. Even on urban walks. Love the no tie laces as it makes it much easier to take off shoes at the airport security too. Came back and went hiking on trails and it was just perfect for the terrain. And it’s water resistant! It was raining in NYC and my feet were completely dry and not cold. Always loved my Salomon shoes. H this is my third pair.

The credit can only be used for a purchase made through the Solomon website.I chose the XA pro 3D. Another Gore-Tex product. I am an absolute lover of the shoelace system!! I have seen others who have written reviews that don't like this system but I have no idea why! It's fast and easy and tucks away the laces so I'm never having to stop and tie my shoelaces. The overall shoe design is lovely and makes my foot look narrower than others in the past.So we'll see how the new pair last but based on the warranty system they have in place I feel very comfortable with remaining a loyal Solomon customer.
Really gutted as i have had two Salomon hiking boots prior to these and they were ace. Sadly these are tight over the top of my right big toe - i think associated with the position of the toggles where the lace threads in which is lower down the foot than before. I have worked for three weeks to try and wear them in by I'm afraid they hurt when i walk downhill. If you have high arches or anything approaching a big toe bunion then i think these will be tight. Such a shame as they look great and my left foot is super comfortable!

BUT I just purchased the new ones (black with pink and red) in Oct. 2023 and after wearing the shoe only once, the quick lace came apart on the left shoe. I submitted a warranty and was told they will send new quick laces to replace the broken one. It is known that the laces eventually fail on these usually closer to 1 year, maybe after 2 years if you are lucky. I have had the shoes for less than 30 days and would expect a new pair sent to me (or at the least, to be able to return them for a refund) due to the failure which is clearly a manufacturer defect. I bought a second pair of these for my wife. She loved the first pair so much, and of course she wore them out after a couple years. This is a great supportive walking shoe and being waterproof, is an awesome feature. She took them to Stockholm in November and of all the family that went, these shoes performed best. Although not meant to keep your feet warm, by keeping them dry and breathable, they help keep feet warm and then in the summer they work to keep them cool too. They also look pretty nice and the pull laces are great.
