The Samson MixPad is an awesome mixer for an artist or band who wants to use the same mixer for live performances AND recording. Since it has USB capabilities and phantom power, you can plug it in to your computer and essentially use it as an audio interface for recording. Since everything runs at 24 bit, you'll get a great quality sound. It's best application is for live performances. The FX are great. Having compression on 4 channels is perfect for making your vocals just right. This is a real hands-on review from Felix @ Sam Ash Phoenix.

It has on-board compressors! you never see on-board compressors at this price range, and they work great! Besides having all the standard features of other boards in it's price range, having the single knob compressors makes these boards 10x more useful! With the compressors you're able to get a better signal from your key sound sources i.e. vocals, kick drums, acoustic guitar. If you're doing live sound you'll love this board! This is a real hands on product review from Chris O'Neil @ Sam Ash White Plains

Product is used in small jazz combo setting to amplify voice and horns (solos only). The board can be placed anywhere for quick control. I use this with my Samson Resound vx8.1 stack I purchased from Sam Ash. Very compact set up with a big sound. You could easily run the amplified rhythm section through the board and stack. Together, I think its a better combo and sound than the Bose system. Recently heard a concert with two Bose stack systems. The Bose couldn't project the bass over the drummer with low tuned drum heads and the piano sound was hollow. Plus, no feedback from the Samson stack holding the mic right in front of the stack which can be angled in two different directions or straight forward.

I use it for for streaming live acoustic music (Acoustic guitar and vocals). The built in one knob compressors work really nice as do the reverbs. I love this mixer! It has really nice mic preamps and you can do hight quality stereo recording with this unit or streaming shows!
I record with this mixer as well as stream live music performances. I generally record using just two of the first four channels with two rode Nt-5 small diaphragm condenser microphones in an XY stereo pattern with a little bit of the onboard compressors engaged and little reverb (no. 59 vocal works great). the guitar and vocal are picked up as one unit in stereo. It is a realistic sound to record this way. i cannot say enough about the mic pre-amplifiers. They are quiet, clean and have good headroom. Note: I have also recorded via three channels with a vocal mic on one and an acoustic guitar pickup/mic combo respectively on the other two. The reverbs.echo/chorus are very good (as are the eqs) and this little mixer is a great value and is extremely easy to navigate. ... MoreI record with this mixer as well as stream live music performances. The Samson MixPad is a great mixer for live sound. Perfect for an acoustic guitarist and vocalist, or even a small band. The pre amps give off a warm sound, and since it has phantom power you can even use a condenser microphone with it. There is a compressor on 2 of the channels which help get your vocals just right, as well as the knob EQ's. Definitely a great buy for anyone starting to do live sound. Samson is the leader in quality pro audio at an affordable price and they prove that once again with the Mixpad series. 6 XLR inputs with 4 sets of stereo inputs provide 14 channels for the mixing enthusiast. Compressors across the first 4 channels give advanced control of the input signal with 4 band EQ and 2 dedicated main mix outs. The built in FX engine proverbs a variety of choices from different verbs to delays and ethos making this mixer the total package at an affordable price. This is a hands on review from Boz @ Sam Ash Richmond
The new MixPad from Samson has a very sleek look and some very cool new features. As with Samson's previous models of mixers, the MixPad is extremely affordable. They have moved to a plastic chassis which is reminiscent of the former Yamaha models. However, at its current price, I believe it is still a good option for a small mixer. This is a hands on product review from Sam Ash Associate Dave Wiest
Samson's new MIXPAD line is fantastic! I have used this product to do some live recording and it offers great control for your sound when recording USB to your computer. You not only have compression on a couple of channels (great for vocals or that unruly snare) but some built in effects to use live. I wouldn't use the effects if you are recording with it, unless you are recording a live show. I always find it frustrating to have tracks with effects on them when I am trying to mix in a DAW. Overall a great product and great for the musicians wanting a affordable way to multitrack some demos.
i have a channel mixer that I am using for gigs. Keyboard, vocals and cell phone tracks.I went to my local store to see if I could find another like it. No luck. I went on line and finally found a reasonably priced 4 channel....I started getting emails that they were back ordering the mixer. After a week of them searching for the mixer I decided to cancel the order.i was not expecting to find this mixer. It had many more channels. I had never heard of this brand. It was used and very reasonably priced. I ordered it and when it arrived. After hooking it up. I was very pleased with the sound and easy of use. Thanks helping me out. i really needed another mixer for my studio.
