Useless suitcase. Avoid at all costs. Warranty is a sham.I have used it once on a short weekend trip. The suitcase was lightly loaded (14-15kg). The whole side of the case collapsed due when wheeling it in the airport. The structure is clearly not strong enough or there is an issue with the manufacturing/plastic thickness.I spoke to the repair centre in the London store, showed them the photo of the issue. They said to bring it in as it's clearly a fault. When I took it in a few weeks later, they claimed no knowledge of the conversation. They wouldn't take the suitcase in for repair/replacement. The alternative is to ship the suitcase to their other repair centre at a cost of £15 each way. It was a complete waste of time. The Samsonite Warranty has no value. ... MoreUseless suitcase. When a product has clear design or manufacturing faults they will not stand behind their product. I would advise against buying Samsonite suitcases. I certainly will never buy the products again. The guarantee is a joke.

I really love the build quality of the European-made Samsonite cases, having bought several older models in the past (which I still have and are still going very strong!). This model is no exception, and even though this is the "entry level" model from the EU-made range, it punches well above it's weight in terms of build quality, for the money. The wheels are incredibly smooth on this case and the entire case feels reassuringly strong and sturdy. The handle action is smooth but robust and isn't inclined to twist and deform when pushing the case along on all 4 wheels. The slightly larger diameter wheels also help on rougher terrain. The included zip-up compartment inserts are really clever. They can be secured to one of two sets of hanging points inside - the lower set is useful if you don't have quite enough to fill the inserts completely, as they pull down slightly on the inserts.I also really like the 3 point latches (one on the top and bottom along with the main centre latch). Unlike my older models, this new model has a slide-switch style interlock to stop the top/bottom latches from inadvertantly being opened during rough-handling. This makes the case much easier to open/close, whilst remaining an excellent secondary safety lock.It took me a minute our two to figure out how to change the combination on the main lock (the instructions could have been a tad clearer - Samsonite chose to go with the IKEA approach of no words, just pictures), but once I interpreted the diagrams correctly, it was an easy job.In short, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this case. The design, along with quality construction make this a no-brainer purchase. Yes it's more expensive that the far-eastern made products that litter various major online retailers. However this will be a case you'll still have in 15 years time!

Easy to pack, easy rolling, easy locking. The packing cubes you can remove quick and simple, which make them super easy to clean.Only thing I regret is that you get a selection of 4 random selected stickers. Having both the 75 and 68cm case; I'd liked it to have the same sticker on both of them. And they scratch fairly easily. Changing the code on the lock was a little challenging.Took it on a two week trip, and had to pack for different climates; change of season. I do not pack light. Always bring too much stuff! Completely full it didn't exceed the 23kg for the flight. It survived the first trip as expected.Have 6 samsonite cases, different models and price scales; frequent flyer. Purchased for my frequent London Manchester travel. It's very flimsy and feels cheap. Went ahead with the brand Samsonite but I was wrong. The handle bar is very weak and feels like it will break anytime. The cabin size is just wanted as it could hold 5-6 days of luggage for me. It's water tight so comes handy when in the rain. I wouldn't recommend the bigger size as airline carriers will break it when handling. It's not covered under warranty then. The inner compartment is okay but has no pockets which is a pain. Overall would not recommend as it's not value for money.
Both myself and my partner purchased Samsonite cases after much research, however, this was a big mistake. The cases mark extremely easily and look tired and worn after even one use. Halfway through a recent trip abroad my partners case cracked down the back next to where the handle sleeve is fitted - this was his second time ever using the case. For the price I would not expect the materials so be so easily scratched, marked or as flimsy and breakable.I thought this case would be a good investment for trips over the coming years, but they didn't make it past two uses before becoming completely unusable.Overall down almost £400.00 for two cases that are not fit for purpose. I would recommend saving your money and buying a much cheaper and sturdier alternative.
Here's the translation:It's a very solid suitcase. Rolls excellently. although I can't technically find the praised cushioning in the wheels, but oh well. Convenient that there are two thin 'travel bags' inside the suitcase where you can put all your stuff and each is securely fastened in every corner of a shell. My reason to choose for this striking color: you can actually see them on the other side of the airport or on the conveyor belt. I was the only one with two of these suitcases on a full flight with an A380. In short, if not everyone goes for this color, I'll still travel 'beautifully unique' and 'noticeable' in the coming years.
The essens carry on luggage is going to get the most use in my luggage collection. The wheels glide extremely smooth. I have the green and it is beautiful. My favorite feature of this case is the removable packing cubes. This is genius. Once you get to your destination, unhook them and throw them into a drawer. Your unpacking is done in just a couple of minutes. It has a couple of stickers you can use to customize the suit case. I wasn't impressed with these, most of them clash with the green. I did get a black one that works for my taste. There are no frustrating zippers. The bag is extremely light. It is smaller than my other carry on and that will be great for some of the discount carriers.
Wheels performed great on cobbblestone streets and crossing tram rails. Can easily go over 50 lbs weight limit for air travel due to large volume capacity when packed with just clothes and shoes, and can be too heavy for many people to carry up stairs or lift onto luggage racks. It did fit on overhead train luggage racks in europe. Two barely fits in car trunks. Shell corner arrived dented in the mail. I pushed it out by hand. It did not dent during travel. Three clasps are good but the locking tabs on the small side clamps slide easily, so I put tape over those to restrict sliding to unlock. Easy to open and pack. Zipper pouches are nice. Shoes can go outside the pouches. Sometimes hard to close if full or big clamp doesn't pop out. Recommend this style. We bought this suitcase to be a bag in reserve for a 30 year old Samsonite that we absolutely love. We use that suitcase to bring a foam bed topper with us on vacation, so a normal zipper closure suitcase just doesn’t cut it. Also, both the side handle, the top handle and the retractable pull handle are flush with the suitcase, eliminating another possible damage point during transit. The suitcase also has two removable and height/depth adjustable bags inside for packing your items. We plan to remove one of these to pack our foam bed topper, while being able to pack clothes on the other side of the suitcase. We have yet to travel with this suitcase, but last month one of our bags was damaged during our travels, so we went ahead and ordered two additional Essens suitcases, because we love all the features so much. Thank you Samsonite for another great product!
On a recent trip to Europe, the airline finished off my soft side bag with rough handling. I ended up with a zipper that no longer worked. I saw the Essens bag in a store in Bruges, Belgium. I really liked the weight, the wheels seem robust, rolls great and most of all, I dug the old school latch closure over the too common zippers. I bought mine at Galleria in Germany. American Airlines took their shot at destroying it on the way home and made a great effort! Scuffs all over, a crushed corner, etc. I popped the corner out and within a day, it had returned to normal, a good wipe down handled a lot of the scuffs. I ended up buying a second one after that for my wife. I hope I don't need it, but the ten year warranty is a nice piece of mind. My only gripe....they had all sorts of cool colors in Europe. I ended up with black, boring, but not even an option in the US market. I ordered the neutral for my wife, I'm hoping it hides the scuffs a little better?
