I received this washer dryer from Samsung for product testing purposes. The Samsung WD10T654DBH Washer/Dryer is an imposing looking machine due to the lage door on the front, yet it has an elegant simplicity to it without a plethora of buttons or knobs to spoil its looks. In fact the the only knob is the rotary selector dead-center above the door, all other programming is done via either the touch-sensitive areas on the integrated control panel/digital display or else through the SmartThings app connected to your wireless network from your mobile device of choice. The drum itself is large and has a similarly large opening, so getting large or bulky wash loads in is not a problem. I was able to comfortably wash a King Size duvet and, although it filled the drum, it went in and came out without difficulty and was thoroughly washed through without any bunching of the filling – I struggled to wash even a single duvet in my previous machine. There are 24 different cycles (of which I have only used 11 so far), most of which can be customised for temperature, spin speed and number of rinses, as well as options to include (or not) washing, drying or Bubble Soak.once selected, you have to press and hold (for about a second) the ‘play’/pause button to the right of the selector knob (or the Start button on the app) in order to start the programme – this took a little getting used to as I kept wanting to just press it like a mechanical button but that just produces a written message on the display telling you to press and hold it. That said, having done 24 programme cycles at the time of writing this review, it is now second nature to me. What is less comfortable is that it is very easy to lean up against the machine while it is working and accidentally operate either the power or ‘play’/pause buttons – in the latter case the programme pauses where it is and you get a nice message telling you how to continue, but with the power button it turned the machine off and had lost the programme when I realised some time later and turned it back on. So what works well for me: • The machine looks good and is very quiet and well balanced, even when spinning at the maximum 1400 RPM. In fact, the spin is quieter than the water fill. • The drum is capacious, giving plenty of volume for clothes to move around in the wash, even with a large load. • Once you have programmed it a few times the combination of rotary selector knob and touch buttons works very well and is easy to use. • When you select a programme the machine gives you an estimated time to perform the full cycle. This is a worst-case time for a full load and usually reduces shortly after the programme starts as the machine has been able to work out just how big a load it is dealing with and optimised the timings for that load. • There is a Drum Clean option and the machine will even tell you when you should run it, based on the usag information since it was last done. • The door release is very quick after the programme stops. With my last machine you had to wait for several minutes after turning it off before you could access the drum, even if you just wanted to add that dropped sock that you noticed as you pressed Start! • And on that note, the ‘add extra items’ door is wonderful and very easy to use – again accompanied with simple instructions on the display as to how to restart the cycle. • The machine keeps track of usage and the app provides a ‘weekly report’on machine health, which programmes you have used most, what time of day, electricity usage, etc. Minor annoyances: • When the machine first arrived the display was programmed in German or Dutch and there was nothing in the instructions that came with it to tell you how to change it. I ended up having to Google how to do it but the (very clear and simple) instructions didn’t seem to work at first – it turns out that the machine runs a set of ‘how to use your machine’ messages the first few times you use it and you have to work through these to get the buttons to work normally, but as it was in a foreign language I had no idea what was happening! • Given the size of the drum opening, it would be nice if the door opened a little wider than it does. Where our machine is situated it is in a corner with the sink cupboard in front of it on the ‘open’ side of the door, which means there is a slight tunnel to negotiate to get items into the drum because the door doesn’t open flat. • It’s easy to accidentally press the power or ‘play’/pause buttons while in mid-cycle, I’m sure a physical or logical guard could be provided to mitigate against this possibility. • The machine plays tunes when it finishes a programme, which is nice and something I was used to from my previous (non-Samsung) machine, but they go on for far too long – a crisp 5 second ditty would do the trick perfectly well and be less annoying. • While the app is connected you cannot unlock the door, which means that you have to tell it to disconnect by pressing the touch-sensitive button on the machine display (on one occasion the machine and the app seemed to get out of synch and it took several minutes and on/offs to allow the door to unlock). • The app allows you to preselect the programme that you want to use, and any options, even if the machine is turned off (albeit a limited set of options is available) but it cannot turn the machine on so you still have to physiclly go and press the button before it can start. • As with all washing machines that I have ever had, the pump drain mechanism is a pull out tube and a screw-in filter at the bottom of the machine. The tube is gravity fed so whatever you are draining into has to be low to the ground so it is going to need repeated trips of that receptacle to the sink/drain in order to completely empty and trapped water, especially if the filter is blocked. The tube is also very short, even when pulled out to it's maximum length. Also, when unscrewing the filter, any remaining dirty water that hasn’t drained through the tube will flow out inside the casing of the machine and then onto the floor below where you cant dry it up – come on Samsung, I’m sure you can come up with some form of sleeving or chute to direct the remaining water to flow to the container used to drain the pipe in to (or at least create a sealed tray underneath the filter that will hold the last bits of water so you can soak them out without going all over the floor/inside the machine’s casing)! Over all, I would highly recommend this product.

I received this washer dryer from Samsung for product testing purposes. For techies who want an expensive toy it is absolutely great - using the app to control it can make putting on a wash fun. But for busy families - not so much. The design of the machine's front panel to have just one control makes it fiddly to see all the information about the program chosen on the machine's display. The machine's display should be bigger - and be a proper screen (not an LED segment display) to show everything. In other words you shouldn't need to get your phone out and run the app in order to easily see and change the features of the program cycles. Personally I don’t like the way the machine's front panel operates, nor do I like the app - it is not obvious to use - it has been designed to be a flashy 'pretty' thing rather than just being simple and straightforward to use. The filling valve is switched on and off abruptly multiple times during a fill which causes annoying loud pipe banging, whereas this was less of an issue with our previous machine. A minor point - I really like seeing the washing going round, and the opaque door takes that away. I know the reason is to hide the hinge mechanism of the AddWash door - but it is just a shame. However, I do like the AddWash feature. Although the drum has a huge 10.5kg capacity, many of the cycles state that they only operate on 5kg or 2kg. I really like the section in the app which shows how much energy the machine has used over the last week or month. I am a wife, and I use the machine most - I am not that keen on the user interface. However my husband, who uses it less, likes the way it works. When I buy clothes I want them to last, churning them round and round for hours is not compatible with that, and that is what the 'ECO' cycles on this machine do. The ECO cycles may save money on electricity, but that money gets spent replacing clothes that have been washed to shreds. Having said all that, it does do the job of washing. But for the expense of this machine is it worth the additional cost for the 'gadget' appeal?

I love the product so far! Energy rating is a plus! However, I paid for premium installation with the hope of using the appliance on the day. Installer said our sink disposal is old so pipe will not fit and we needed an adaptor which isn't supplied by Samsung. He said we can buy it in any plumbing store. Only to find out that they only needed to cut the pipe and that would have solved the issue. Waste of "PREMIUM" installation fee. They were nice though.

I've tried a few washer/dryer combos. Here is why this 10/6kg Samsung Combo wins for me: - The cycle design and user interface is really the best on the market. Super Speed + Dry is unmatched in other units. One wheel navigation and just a few elegant buttons. Why do all other machines feel like they were designed by a toddler for an adult, when it should be the other way around. - The clothes are dry at the end of the cycle. Yes, other units may have better dryer energy ratings. I think they achieve it by not drying the clothes. 3 stars is fine for me. And the water usage in this latest model is much improved over older models. - Bubble wash and the counter rotating drum are great little innovations Critiques? - I wish it had a built in scale like other units so I ... I hope that doesn't happen again, but to Samsung's credit they were quick to solve the problem. Also, the Harvey Norman Kitchen team have been exemplary in customer assistance as well. I don't normally compliment companies but they went above and beyond for this customer.
I know appliances can last a few years, but the difference in this product is amazing. Its like night and day. Programs that really meet your needs, extremely quiet and very solidly built. The build quality of these appliances is already well known but they seem to keep improving. With the add to wash door, no more single socks being missed!
Received the washing machine as part of a testing opportunity. I have used the machine on multiple occasions in the few weeks that we have had it. I couldn’t see any glaring problems with its function or usability. The drum is a good size and I like the feature of being able to add to the load mid cycle. I also like the fact that there is only one dial on the washing machine as it looks sleek and is easier to choose the settings. There are a good amount of setting for washing and drying. I especially like the hygiene steam option. Overall it is much quieter than washing machines that we have had in the past and is generally pretty quick on its timings. Overall great washing machine. Very happy.
I received this washer dryer from Samsung for product testing purposes. The short version: I think this is a great machine - it has a good selection of cycles for most types of laundry, it’s quiet in operation, it’s easy to use, it learns your favourite cycles, can wash large loads and the dryer part seems to dry well! Add to that the ability to control it from your phone and you are totally in the laundry zone!! For the downsides, read the longer version below, the main downside is that some cycles can be slow. I would definitely recommend this as a good versatile washer dryer though, it does a great job!. The long version: Looks: My initial reaction was that it was making quite a statement! I would definitely recommend this as a good versatile washer dryer though, it does a great job!. The long version: Looks: My initial reaction was that it was making quite a statement! The large dark door certainly stands out, both from a design standpoint but also, it is quite thick. There’s a reason for that though - the AddWash door! To put a door within a door means you have to have ‘stuff’ - hinges, catches etc and to make that look good, you have to hide it - the smoked glass does this well. The door, as well as the drum, are big, so it’s super easy to get stuff in there. The controls are easy to see - there is only one nice shiny knob (just used to scroll through options) and a few touch-sensitive buttons to select different temps or common options. The display is good - easy to read and tells you everything you need to know about what to do next or how to add a drying cycle etc. Cycles: After the initial setup and calibration was done, it was time to explore the features and so far after just over a week, we have found the ones we like, but we haven't tried all of them yet. On our previous washer/dryer we mainly did quick washes, and the 2020 WD6500T Washer Dryer has this (SuperSpeed = an hour), but it also has a 15-minute wash - marvellous! OK, it takes 25 minutes if you want 40’C, but still, that’s nice and quick for a small amount of stuff that needs to be turned around quickly. Note that for the 15 minute was, you can’t use detergent capsules because they just don’t dissolve in time! There’s lots more to explore in terms of cycles, as there are some that sound great, we just haven't had the opportunity to do them yet. Many of the cycles have options that you can set, and most allow you to add a drying phase to the end, either a times dry or a ‘dryness’ - like ‘Cupboard dry’. Although it does not say this, there must be a sensor to tell when it’s reached this level of dryness. AddWash door: Having never had this ability before, our initial thought was ‘meh’. But we have actually used it twice in a week. Before it was always ‘too late, next time’, or a reset and start again, but now we do have the flexibility to add something we forgot, or found had dropped out from the load. The AddWash door is fairly small, so don’t think you can add a duvet cover through there! We are talking socks, a shirt or some thin trousers. You probably would not get jeans through the AddWash door! Usability: After the initial thing of ‘how does this work’, you get the hang of using the scroll knob to move through the options and it’s all pretty easy. Even the setup of the WiFi was super simple. The App on the phone: This machine is already easy to use with it’s display, but if you have your phone in your hand (and who doesn’t these days), you can set up washes and control the machine through the SmartThings App on the phone. It makes it super easy to see all the options on the phone, and it can notify you when the wash is finished in case you are out of earshot of the finished sound. It’s a great tool to explore the versatility of the washes, and it includes a section where the App chooses the best cycle based on some easy questions about what you are washing. This is also a super cool way to get your teenager invested in washing their clothes if they can do it through the App! Obviously they have to load the machine themselves, and that might be the bigger problem ;-) You can use the App to remove cycles from the list on the machine, making it much easier to find what you use often on the machine itself if your phone is not to hand. Maintenance: We haven't got as far as needing the ‘DrumClean+’ cycle that cleans out the drum and seals, but seeing how bad the old machine got from time to time, this could be a good plan to keep the machine clean. The filter drain seems OK, but I have not yet tried it. Manual: Hopeless! First 12 pages are ‘Don’t do this, don’t do that’. Sigh. The rest is mostly about installation and then a small section on actual washing! Unless I messed it, it didn’t even show what one of the displays means (The number of rinses). Maybe it’s obvious...maybe not! Delayed Start: It’s actually got delayed END, which makes more sense, I want the stuff to be ready at 8:00am so that’s most important. Handy! Overall: Great machine, lots of versatility, washes and dries well, looks good, is easy to use, big 10.5 kg capacity and very quiet when running. BUT: Bad points: Although it has got a couple of fast cycles, some of the others are slow. Or appear slow at first glance. Select Towels and it claims 6hrs! Not had the time (!) to try that yet! On the plus side, it does load sensing, so the times initially quoted are often shorter when it sorts itself out, but it freaks you out when it says huge times like that. I think the initial learning curve may be quite steep for some people compared to a simple machine. For something that’s quite flexible, there must be lots of options that must be selected or scrolled through. But it does settle down once it learns your favourite things. The manual is hopeless! Some cycles cannot be adjusted ‘enough’. E.g. SuperSpeed will only do up to 40’C. It won’t go up to 60’C so you have to use a different cycle. I’d be happy if 60’C took 10mins longer than 40’C, but the next option is 2hrs and several scrolls away. The 'Eco 40-60' cycle is the default and cannot be removed. It decides 40'C to 60'C based on load, but surely the temperature is determined by the fabric type, not how much is in the drum? This does not make sense and is not explained clearly enough. Who is it for? Due to the speed of the machine on some of the ‘heavier’ cycles, I am not 100% sure it would actually have time to get a family of 4 or more with kids playing rugby clean! While the ECO-ness of the machine is a good thing, that causes cycles to be longer and more frugal. Also, if you are not happy with technology, then this is probably not the machine for you. I think this machine is clearly aimed at the young professionals who are happy with technology and who are out at work all day (so a slow cycle does not matter).
‘I received this washer dryer from Samsung for product testing purposes.’ First impression was “what a big door”, the door certainly dominates the front of the machine, probably because the front is otherwise minimalistic. Single silver dial, and the multifunction display to the right is all you notice. The on/off “button” is a touch sensitive imprint on the facia itself, as is the pause and go button. Or as I think of it now the play and pause button. Setup is very easy, switch on for the first time and it says “calibrating” and then it comes up with the welcome routine. I’m assuming the calibration is to ensure the drum is as balanced as possible. Some slight confusion between the instructions and what initially appears on the front display, but only takes a ... Or as I think of it now the play and pause button. Setup is very easy, switch on for the first time and it says “calibrating” and then it comes up with the welcome routine. I’m assuming the calibration is to ensure the drum is as balanced as possible. Some slight confusion between the instructions and what initially appears on the front display, but only takes a moment or two to work it out. As part of the setup you can also connect it to your home WiFi network this does require you have a phone or tablet with Samsung’s SmartThings app installed. The controls are straightforward, like most machines the dial is used to select the program you want to use, simply rotate it and the programme is displayed on the right. The control panel is split into two, one section is your programme “summary” the second is the details and where you can alter the programme, want an extra rinse for your delicates? It’s as easy as touching the button under the number of rinses and it will cycle through from 1 to 5. And you use the same method to adjust the spin speed and temperature. All in all to use the built-in programmes is as simple as it could be. With the built-in programmes Samsung seem to have anticipated every wash type, from a standard “Cotton” wash and dry to a “Bedding” to “Towel” to “Outdoor” … well you get the idea. I’d say 90% of the time it will be bung your wash in, turn the dial and away you go. The machine has “AI”, in other words it is meant to learn how you wash and adjust programmes based on this and this isn’t just a marketing bullet point. It has already learnt that I usually give things an additional rinse and I’ve noticed my towel wash now defaults to an additional rinse so I don’t have to remember to add one. Nice feature. Now if only it could remind me to check the pockets…. But the controls and options don’t stop there. If you have the SmartThings App installed and connected to your washer you can choose a wash and dry programme from that, and once a programme is going it will tell you how long is left, and even which part of the cycle it is on. And if you have other Samsung devices connected with SmartThings you may be in for a surprise. I’d put my first wash on, settled down to watch a movie on my 4 year old TV, and at the top I suddenly get a discreet banner telling me the wash was completed! It will also send you a message to your phone to tell you it has finished. For me this is simply brilliant as I’m always forgetting I’ve put a wash on. It will also inform you when you need to put the washer through its built in cleaning programme, it recommends to run it every 40 washes and you don’t need any fancy cleaners. The smart app also allows you to programme completely custom washes tailored for your use. Always washing a dirty football kit? Build a programme that is for very dirty clothes with a prewash, extra rinse, 40 degrees and 1400 spin speed , label it “Soccer” and it’s then a touch on your phone or a turn on the dial to select it. The technology and all the options can seem overwhelming but really it is all very straightforward and if you have ever used an automatic washer/dryer you already know how to use it, and you can completely ignore the technology if you want and still get superb results. In the end all the bells and whistles mean nothing if the washing and drying isn’t up to par. I’ve not yet used all the programmes but all the ones I have given great results. There is a quick wash that is under an hour… 59 minutes, and it is still a good wash - I’ve used this wash for work shirts that are usually worn once, one even had a small ketchup on one and that came out. The machine does adjust the programme time depending on the weight and so on of the wash, so it might show an hour and 10 minutes but then recalculates it so may only take 2 hours. It updates the time remaining on the control panel and also in the app. Wool wash is very good, although using a slower spin speed than my previous washer/dryer the woollens came out drier, ready to be dried in an airing cupboard. For those who want to use as little energy as possible there are cold washes and intense cold washes, and you can always drop the temperature of a wash. However the lower energy programmes are often a lot longer than the more standard washes. In terms of drying, the drying side is not as good as a separate dryer but beats my last two washer/dryers hands down. It also uses the smart technology to measure the moisture so will cut off when the drying completes. You can – with this machine it is of course - choose different levels of heat, can set it to dry for a predetermined time and so on. Like all washer/dryers you can’t always dry a full load, for example cottons, however this is a 10kg capacity machine so you can do a complete wash and dry with a 6kg load of washing. Which is still a good amount. The drum opening is huge and you are never struggling to get your laundry in or out. A word about the noise level – it isn’t! It is incredible quiet in operation, the spin is no more noisy than the filling part of a cycle. The washer also claims to have a stay-clean detergent and conditioner drawer, not had it long enough to tell how effective this is longterm but so far not a speck of detergent or drop of conditioner has remained in the tray. One of the issues with a washer dryer is that you can’t use a of liquid detergent that you have to put in a dispenser and then in the drum, the dispenser would melt during the dry cycle. However this machine comes with a little widget you can put in your detergent drawer so you can put liquid detergent into the drawer. That attention to detail is what really makes this washer-dryer stand out, from enhanced eco cycles, to the add-to-wash door in a door, there are so many different features and options I could make this review twice as long. In summary: Superb washing results, which is in the end what really matters Good dryer “Smart” features that are useful. Highly recommended.
Having spent a considerable amount of money on Samsung wash products in the past which have all been excellent I did not hesitate to purchase this machine. Unfortunately, they have taken digital automation to the next level and you can no longer manually adjust the drying temperature. This is crazy as it basically makes this machine unusable for anything that needs drying at 40 degrees or under. As the door has a safety hold on it at 50 degrees or hotter and the door will not open in any of the preset drying modes I am going to assume that all cycles are 50 degrees plus. This is backed up by my now damaged outdoor clothing.... Because of this ridiculous error in the specification of the machine and the fact that the lack of manual temperature control is not clearly ... Because of this ridiculous error in the specification of the machine and the fact that the lack of manual temperature control is not clearly advertised (along with a thousand pounds of damaged clothing and no means to get a refund on the machine itself) this product gets 1 star across the board.
Received this washer dryer from Samsung for product testing purposes. " Simplicity at its best ." Just a few words to describe it. Overall performance is just great. You can put big loads of washing. This is great for large families. The first thing I noticed after my first load of washing was ,this machine is kinder to the clothes that you had put in. It looks like it washes clothes with gentle care . It does'nt trash the fabric of the clothing. Probably people may say " that depends on what cycle you use " , but still regardless on what cycle you use it is still washing your clothes with gentle care. I am very particular in inspecting the clothes when I am folding it, therefore I noticed the difference between the old washing machine we had then this new Samsung ... This Samsung washer /dryer performance is excellent. I would recommend this to every household.
