Review:I recently had the opportunity to test the Samsung 990 EVO Plus 1TB NVMe SSD. Here’s my experience after installing it in my PS5.Installation & Setup:Installing the Samsung 990 EVO Plus was a breeze. The drive fits perfectly into the PS5’s M.2 slot, and the process was straightforward. If you’ve swapped out SSDs before, this will be a familiar and easy task.Performance:The advertised read speed for the Samsung 990 EVO Plus is up to 7,150 MB/s. However, after installation, my PS5 clocked the read speed at 6,335 MB/s—slightly slower than my previous WD Black SN850X, which hit 6,541 MB/s. While there’s a small difference in speed, it’s not something I noticed during actual gameplay. It’s significantly cheaper than what I paid for my WD Black SN850X 2TB back in February 2023. For gamers looking to upgrade their storage without breaking the bank, this is a great option. The slight drop in speed is more than made up for by the cost savings.Final Thoughts:Overall, I’m very satisfied with the Samsung 990 EVO Plus. It offers excellent performance at a much more affordable price point compared to other high-end SSDs. If you’re looking for a solid storage upgrade for your PS5 or PS5 Pro, this drive is definitely worth considering.

I loved the idea of upgrading my PC to and M.2 from a SATA SSD. My SSD is also Samsung. I did a little read and right test and didn't quite get the performance I was hoping for. I placed the M.2 in the slot closest to the cpu, but still no luck. I believe I might need a better mother board, but I was honestly a little bummed at getting half the speeds shown on the outside of the packaging. I know it says "up to 7,150 MB/s. Still though....half is kind of low. BUT with all that said. I do notice a difference in boot up speed and data transfer speed. I was able to reflect everything from my original drive over to this new one pretty quick.

This drive has completely transformed my editing workflow! The read and write speeds are incredibly fast, making it perfect for handling large video files and high-resolution images without any lag. I've noticed significant improvements when rendering and exporting, which has saved me so much time on projects. Even when working with multiple files simultaneously, the performance remains consistent and reliable. It's clear that this drive was designed for professionals who need speed and efficiency in their work. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-performance storage solution for editing!
I upgraded from a SATA SSD, to the 990 Evo plus NVMe m.2... My cold boot time to the desktop was about 30 seconds. The PC now boots in 9 seconds. I play a large open world multiplayer video game as well. Normally to connect and load A server/map would take 4 to 5 minutes. I was loaded and spawned in in about 1 minute with the new drive. It's safe to say my SSD bottleneck is no longer an issue. Setup was a bit tricky, That's no fault of the drive. It was an issue with my main board recognizing the m2 as a bootable device. Once I figured that out, I was able to install Windows from a flash drive in no time flat. This is a great product a great upgrade for PC enthusiasts.
I've used samsung evo series for multiple PC builds over the years and they've never failed me or been a problem child. Fantastic product with fantastic read and write speeds.
This is a powerhouse of an SSD for a non powerhouse price, with blazingly fast read speeds of up to 7,150 MB/s and write speeds of 6,300 MB/s, as long as your hardware supports it, you will not be left wanting if you purchase this little device. Files move really fast across the device and demanding applications like photoshop and video editing are loaded and used in a snap, I also like the boost file transfer speed, little disappointed though at the file transfer rates, but you can't really go wrong, it's a quality product, do yourself a favor and snatch one of these up.
What a big difference in performance. After installing the SSD my computer runs a hundred times faster. Immediately I noticed the data transfer rate is quicker. There's more power in my PC than ever before. I can run games with ease and not have to worry about bogging down when I play a game that requires more memory.
This drive is very fast. It’s made for gen 4x4 or 5x2 so you know it’s good for many years down the road. I mainly game on my pc and noticed all my games load a lot quicker. It was super easy to install. The drive is a reliable, high-performance drive, ideal for both everyday and heavy-duty use. It offers solid value given its combination of speed, durability, and Samsung’s reputation for quality. I’m definitely getting another one!
It has been more than a year since I bought my first 4TB SSD from Samsung and I couldn't be happier. I have been using SSDs for years on all of my PCs, Macs and gaming systems, and the only ones that never failed me were from Samsung. That is why I bought the 4TB 990 Pro for my notebook, which only has one NVMe slot. I needed fastest performance and proven reliability. Nothing else comes close. Working with large videos, transferring or storing files is a breeze, and knowledge that my data is stored safe - gives me the the peace of mind I need!
